Well...if you go by their last fight Madara in direct combat was stronger than Hashirama, no? Just asking as Madara was the last one standing *in direct combat*. By that it would make them equal, or Madara slightly stronger? I'm just speculating as no one but Kishi knows. I wouldn't dare be intrepid enough to try and state facts about something I didn't create. Atm I believe Madara is far stronger due to being beyond his prime, and Hashirama weaker than his. Just my opinion.

Madara was in direct combat with a clone.... not Hashirama himself.. Hashirama was standing somewhere else. Note that Hashirama got off the buddha instead staying on it and finishing of Madara.
