You never know. I can see Naruto getting away with it if Kishi truly wanted it. I feel like nobody would question it. It doesn't have to be labeled a love story or yaoi/yuri to feature a love story or a homosexual pairing. Naruto is an action story with life lessons and emotional tolls. NaruHina and NaruSaku are romances and Naruto is not a romance. I feel like Naruto strays away from romance for a good amount. Romance is the last thing in what Naruto is, really. Adding Naruto/Sasuke to the end result is no different from NaruHina or NaruSasku. It's just adding some romance to the overall product, which is not a love story. Now, I agree with you as I don't think it'll happen, but if it did, it'd work flawlessly in my opinion, from a story standpoint and I think the Naruto fans would be accepting of it.
Also, Sasuke doesn't have to be a girl for it to work. I, personally, think it works better here because it's the original story. It'd work either way, but Sasuke is a boy and Naruto is a boy. Nothing wrong there. In fact, it'd be huge thing if NaruSasu/SasuNaru happened the way it is, the way it's meant to be as it's currently layed out if one supports them together.
I like how I'm debating the couple not even in the poll and with the actual least chance of happening in this reality, but I stand my ground.

There are people out there who only care about one of the two characters, in NH's case they're more likely to only care about Hinata and in NS's case they're more likely to only care about Sakura. Basically, it's all about which girl you despise/like more.
You are partially correct in saying that Hinata doesn't know his pain. But how could she know it when all she has done is watch him from afar? Furthermore Naruto really started paying attention to her back during the Chuunin exams when he was finally starting to get recognized by other people. Naruto never really realized that there was one person out there who went as far as admiring him regardless of the fact that he was considered the monster fox. Hinata and Naruto have never really had any kind of conversation, you could even say they barely know each other, but regardless of this fact she has been one of his greatest supports. She doesn't know him and his past pains that well but even so she is capable of lesseing his pains and insecurities, she is capable to reach his heart and give him the strength to stand up again with his head held high. She is basically the reason he was able to escape death when fighting Pain AND Obito/Madara.

Hmm well from the very start Naruto was after only Sakura. Hinata didn't even exist for him during part one. Or she existed but she tried to approach him in her own innocent way and got quite frankly ignored.
But. People grow up, they mature and they value others differently in the process.
So it was about time Naruto stopped being childish and get over his childish crush on Sakura. Kishimoto did this (at least kind of). It started in the Pain arc, to be completed in the war arc. Naruto obviously noticed Hinata and is (hopefully) able to understand that she is the type of woman that he needs.
To conclude, my opinion is that it would be better for the story and also better as a way to pass a message to the manga's teenage audience if he ended up with Hinata. However, there is still the possibility that we won't have any pairings at all and Naruto might even end up a little dead
(p.s. I can't help but to underline the fact that Naruto had more feelings for Sasuke than any of the 2 girls mentioned though, and you have to agree on that)

If it DOES happen, I'd have to definitely bow to Kishimoto in admiration. Not only did he commit "heresy" in terms of Shonen Manga custom, but also basically he broke the record of Most Valiant Writers ever. Homosexual love stories are definitely made fun of by most males, and there are a TON of males following Naruto. Now that I think about it, curiosity would kill me if he so much as gave a small hint of NaruSasu happening. I still think NaruHina FTW though.

Yeah, he'd be deserving if that was his initial plan and/or what he truly wants to happen. If he has something else, he should do what he wants, but if he wants NaruSasu, he should go for it. I think it'd break barriers too, like you said. Naruto is so popular and a really good story. Not to go off topic, but I believe it would makes waves upon the acceptance of homosexuality in the world. I think we'll get that hint. I hope to God we get Naruto or Sasuke saying "I love you." to the other. Of course, we can take that any way, but that'd awesome. And yeah, of NaruSaku vs NaruHina, NaruHina.
Man, now I'm all curious. I went from supporting NaruSasu to now wanting it. With what you said, it'd be so big and cool, in my opinion, but I support it, so I'm maybe bias for the latter part.

I do get why it would be better for him to end up with Hinata, as Kishimoto has always 'sent a message'. And this one seems to be to 'get out of your shell' type. You know, the friend zoned getting a real shot at it. I think he'll make it into an inspirational type of thing if Hinata ends up with him. I can actually imagine the manga scans now. Hahahaha. Them holding hands or something and them both thinking about past moments together. xD
You know what's the funniest thing of it all? If NaruSasu was canon, the funniest thing would be the reaction faces of all the male readers. Now that's a proper way of separating the homophobics from normal people LOL. Sad thing is, sexual orientations aside, as a couple, NaruSasu is weak because of Sasuke's arrogance. He still refuses to acknowledge Naruto, and unfotunately the only way to get Sasuke's attention seems to be a display of considerable power. That's why I think Sasuke would do a puuuuuuurfect job in Kingdom Hearts. Heck, he'd say Darkness even more times than Ansem.
I'm interested in knowing why people tend to think Kushina's remark of "find a woman like me" gives an advantage to Sakura and not to Hinata? For all we know, Kushina might have said "like me" as in "like the way I am with your father"... Sorry, I fail to see Kushina as a Tsundere when she's with Minato. That guy just pressed all the perfect buttons within her. He was just too much of a prince charming.
Of love to see those threads. God, I wouldn't be able to hit the report and neg rep buttons fats enough!(for the ones against homosexuality of course.) And there are relationships like that already, one massively arrogant and the other passive. Although, they are both kinda the alpha-males in their own right.

Yeah, it'd separate the people, but for some reason, I think most Naruto fans would accept it. Then again, maybe that's just me having too much faith. I gotta remember what some of the Naruto fandom is like XD
Even in weakness, I still feel like it's strong. Think about it this way. Sasuke is to Naruto like Naruto is to Hinata, but the only difference is all the interaction between Naruto & Sasuke in part 1.
I think we can all say that NaruSaku may have the least amount of chance here XD
Supporter of NaruHina and all, I still am upset with BOTH girls Sakura and Hinata, for the fact that neither of them stood by Naruto's side when he found out about Jiraiya. For me, that chapter having Iruka be the lecturer was quite disappointing... And don't get me wrong, I like Iruka's relationship with Naruto, but I think men react more radically towards the touch of a woman in these situations than with another man.
