The Castle Hidden In the Shadows

He sat there listening letting her rest up against his side. I know it's hard especially for you. I want to free you from it, even if I could just take a little bit of the burden off of you and help ease your situation I would. I care for you a lot and all I want to do is see you smile and for you to be sincerly happy.
Howard continued to gently hold her hand noticing her struggling to return to a human appearance. He held her a bit closer and whispered to her quietly. Please don't force yourself. I'm here no matter what.
He rested his head on top of hers again not speaking giving her time to think and speak.

*she sits in silence, as the sun starts to set on the scene she pushes away from him slightly, releasing her hand from his grip, leaving a simple black pendent in it's place, she shakily tries to stand, her hood remaining down with her head bowed low* I..can't do this here. I need...to head back. *she lifts her head slightly to look at him, her face partially restored, the remainder a mess of muscle and bone, as she tries to smile sweetly at him as she starts to fade* I'll...be back...soon...thank you. *she forces out the words as she finally disappears, leaving the area in an eerie shadow, a gentle breeze brushing by Howard as he's left in the silence.*

Howard sat off to the side of the roof top hidden in shadow down below the lone column on the top of the roof. Around his right forearm and wrist a small black chain is wrapped three times unseen to everyone else is the small pendant that has never left his hand. He held it softly as if it were more important then his own life.
He peered aimlessly off into the distance his head back against the cold mortar of the stone castle. His knees were pulled up towards his upper body which allowed him to take up little space. He continued to look on-wards towards the blackened sky towards the horizon. 'Is it just a keepsake to remember her by? Has she gone from this world forever, or so long that I'll never see her again in my lifetime, so many things I left unsaid.'
He clutched his right hand tightly for a moment before releasing it he closed his eyes and lost himself slipping deep into thought about everything and anything his wondering mind could think of.

*watching her wings with interest* I still don't know how you manage to maintain that form without losing your mind and killing everything...anyway. don't worry, either it'll pass and calm down again...or I'll die and forget everything anyway so just have to wait and see really.

Technically I am still part human remember, thanks to my mother, but one day I am going to have to die and take on the anthropomorphic personification role of death, this process has been going on for a while but recently it's been getting faster and worse. I'm forgetting more, my forms keeps changing without me knowing and my human form is getting harder and harder to maintain...I don't think I have long left to...well, live.
