The Captain commander Persona/Shunsui's change

Since Shunsui is the New captain Commander aka the head of the Gotei 13. It seems like he changed DRASTICALLY. This guy used to flirt around, and just sleep and etc. And now out of the blue hell, hes the most serious guy there. This leads me to the first part of the title, "The Captain Commander Persona".


I now believe noone besides Shunsui could've captured that persona. Whether its the Zero Squad, Urahara, Ukitake, Isshin. By his Persona I'm not just refering to his personality, but his portrayal as a character and his appearance.

• He has that "Tough guy/ Manly man" appearance to him. If I had to pick a commander based off of looks, I would definitely go with Shunsui.
  
• His attitude, is that off a calm peaceful butterfly and then with the mix of a smart intellect Tiger.
  
• His dressing is also, that of a elite samurai , or someone who could be a leader. For example, Shanks from One piece, he is the same way as Shunsui.

The Questions to discuss about with all that said:

Was he the right guy?
IS he the right?
Are his decisions good so far?

I figured he'd be the new CC, but what bugs me is that he's making kenpachi and unohana fight to the death and one has to die to become or stay the kenpachi.

I might have chosen Unohana if it were up to me, but it's definitely not. And I also think we haven't seen everything Shunsui is capable of yet.
I shall miss his goofy side. I don't think we'll ever see it again. :/

But thats the only way to have a powerhouse monster who can give the Quincy run for their money ;l.

Captain Unohana is my personal favorite captain followed by Shunsui......but lately its just gone downhill....

Unohana doesn't even look like Unohana....I mean even her face is different. Her eyes are fully one color not actual eyes. Her chin seems far sharper compared to normal....and she's a complete psycho. While I think it is a rather dramatic and very cool twist....what's the point of making her just like Zaraki. When they presses how she'd be in combat they made it sound as though unlike the wild and insane killer that is Kenpachi, Unohana would be calm and collected when doing the same thing!

You already mentioned Shunsui.

To get on topic: he easily has the expirience. He is also the third strongest captain occording to ratings (after Unohana and Yammamoto....I'm excluding Aizen.

He also has a sense of charisma that Unohana doesn't carry amongst the other captains.

I miss his funny side, but understand why its gone....he needs to be serious.

But yeah.....da fu** is up with a death match. If you have two people with ungodly strength....the logical choice is to put them in a death match against each other which cuts the soul societies fighting chances -.-

Also....It is a slap to Unohana's face by saying it is a fight to the death.....Zaraki will win if anyone because 1. The training was for him. 2. He has closer ties to Ichigo.

Honestly...Unohana was given far higher stats, has Yammamoto's expirience, master of Kendo, expert in Kido, and a Bankai....yet she is only going to get one fight in which the plot is against her!

Sorry to rant, but that and Shunsui's personality changes have really been troubling me lately :'(

I agree with everything you've said. And I must once again point out the absence of the chin braid. I don't know why I'm so sad about it, but it just feels wrong. That chin braid was something I looked at, laughed at, tried to copy, and now it's just gone!! :'(

I have a mixed feel....while yes the braid was part of Unohana....I just imagined her hair differently unbraided than this....it just looks completely unorigional...she looks almost like As Nodt!

Yeah that face she gave while turning around was epic....I mean it was a mix of beauty, but with clear insanity or just the desire to kill!

She's my favorite captain so I'm excited.

As far as As Nodt goes....sad he got killed....he seemed intelligent. Then he charged Yammamoto -.-

It's more or less showing that Shinsui has a serious side which I think is awesome I have always assumed it was there but its great to see him like this and considering the situation and how beat up they all got I don't think his normal relaxed flakey self would help the situation and he knows that.

Thanks KingHashirama, Why wouldn't Shunsui make right decisions... he always been laid back/romantic and exotic but also he always been wise and serious... he knew about Kenpachi and knew what must be done... interesting thing about all this is that other Captains probably didn't know about Zaraki.

This. I think Shunsui's always had that serious side to him. He's not as giddy as someone like Kisuke but he's just really calm and doesn't like fighting. Plus he's always had that thing for women. He was definitely the right decision, Unohana seems quiet and fairly unbalanced (almost schizophrenic if you want to go that far), and Ukitake is too frail when you need someone on the front lines.

The 'serious side' is a recurring thing among the senior captains, they're all relaxed people but they fight dirty and they don't play fair. Shunsui attacks people mid-conversation, Ukitake doesn't even tell Starrk his shikai and lets him figure it out for himself, and Unohana randomly pulls out blades to stab Zaraki during their battle. But looking at the other captains, someone like Ichigo will hold back for a bit and try to find out someone's emotions through striking swords with them, Rose tries to make battles artistic, and the rest of them give a 10 minute speech on how their Bankai works before they attack.

This is probably why Shunsui is one of my favourite characters, along with the other senior captains. Fight, get the job done and return to SS for a nice cup of tea.

That's something Zaraki could do to disadvantage himself for bitter fight. But why others do it I still can't figure...

Imagine if Shinji didn't explain his damn shikai to Aizen and just pulled his mask out and went for it. Not saying Shinji would've won but could've atleast wounded Aizen enough to make it easier for Ichigo or so.
