I was always under the impression that Hyuuga techs were similar in concept to air distortion/impact through speed. Similar in concept to Maito Gai air pressure techs.

I always thought the base of Air palm was a palm attack using the principles of gentle fist but by resourcing to use the Byakugan as a mean to see the opponent vital points and then use compressed air to hit them.

I think it needs chakra from the user (A Hyuuga) to create a high-speed palm but the attack is mainly based on the compressed air that hits the vital point.

If we think about it, this is a major feat because being able to compress air and make it travel a determined distance in order to create damage on a vital point is praiseworthy.
