Unlike any other character, Pain (And I say Pain, not Nagato) never truly got his ass kicked without delivering divine retribution back to whoever tried him. The only fight he ever lost was an unfair struggle against a Bijuu after he'd spend almost all of his chakra raiding Konoha. Give him a fair fight and he would have wrecked.

Madara didn't turn into a b-i-tch after he lost his siblings and family, he was raised in the worst war era and kept getting stronger until him and Hashi were the strongest amongst all shinobi.

Even if Madara get a chance to fight back he still need to abide to plot. Unlike Pain where they not tied to main story plot.

Give Madara free role without tying him to central plot and he will wrecked everyone in his Rinne version or JJ version.

Yet, he went down like a fodder. He's more of a puppet than Pain, since he didn't even know he was being played until the very end.

Pain, on the other hand, knew Tobi was behind everything and respected that, they were working towards a common goal which he was willing to give his life to even though Tobi was the boss. Plus, he went down fighting, unlike Wankdara over here.

Give Madara free role without tying him to central plot and he will wrecked everyone in his Rinne version or JJ version.

Don't try to justify Madara's ultimate fail with an "it was all because of plot".
