Too many to name. And if your list doesn't comprise of at least 99 percent rappers from 91- 04 era you are mentally unprepared to engage in this debate. Because that's when real originality and lyricism flourished

Greatest rappers include but not limited too.

Bun b
Outkast
Mos def
Naas
Jay z
Biggie
Tupoc
Ghost face killa
Tylor the creator
ASAP rocky
Schoolboy q

And I'm not gonna add eminem because 1)he's more of a pop singer now then anything, 2) he attracts the wrong kind of audience, 3) I personally don't like his music and this is my list so ya. Got a problem? Suck it

My top 10 rappers (in this context, I suppose): Joe Budden, Crook, Pap, Lupe, L, Bis, Cass, Monch, DOOM, and Mos Def. Wasn't really in order but the first 5 are my top 5.

Honorable mentions to the rest of the Slaughters, Black Thought, A Team n*ggas, and Charles Hamilton.

Oh and lol @ the dude who thinks Em is the best lyricist.

EDIT: Almost forgot to shout out Redman.

Like you said,it's all very subjective.what matters to me the most is the lyrics.the originality(rapping about a variety of topics),the fluidness(having rhymes that connect but aren't insanely random)and most of all the picture.when rap tells a story, that's real

A few examples of this

Only god can judge me-tupac
Toy soilders-eminem
Children's story-slick rick

I don't like lil' wayne.it seems like he lacks the ability to actually rap about a topic/storytell.I've heard alot of his work,(all the carters, dedications etc) but it seems he often creates a rhyme, connects it with another string of words then says something about a woman's private parts or the n word

Rap doesn't have to be explicit.if you think otherwise, your perspective is quite limited and that's a damn shame.

I didn't read/participate in the last one,
but yea, its eminem for me too. I don't care about fluidity and all that....I get what he says, what he means, and i relate to it. That's all I want from a rap.

"No apologies, nah suckers I'm not sorry
You can all sue me, y'all could be the cause of me
No apologies, y'all feelin' the force of me
No remorse for me, like there was no recourse for me
No apologies, not even acknowledging you at all
'til I get a call that god's coming
No apologies, laugh f***ers it's all funny
I can spit in ya face while your standin' across from me, no apologies"

Jermaine, lamar and drake are the best new boys out right now and are the leaders of the new rap Gen. The best rapper is between eminem, jayz and nas. Wasnt old enough to hear biggy and pac.

Biggie/Tupac/Big L were just on a different level than we've seen before. The way they made people feel literally divided the US.
If either one of these 3 did not die, he would have been the king of Rap, not bum ass Jay Z. Truth be told, Big L was the better lyricist, but didn't have nearly the following Tupac did, and couldn't tell story better than Biggie.

Don't get me wrong though, Jay Z spits hot shit(well he used to). I'd say Jigga/Nas/Eminem would be the next three in no order. This is a level of music I don't think anyone is touching in a while. All three may have slightly fallen off, but their past work slays anything anyone has come out in 5 years.

Next I'd put in Kendrick. I know people are going to call my a ****rider, but with his new album dropping soon, I have a feeling it'll be another classic. If it is, no one in the rap game will be able to touch him. If his new album is equally as good as GKMC, he will be the best rapper out all hands down. Think about the amount of love he got when he did the control verse. Now imagine the scale it will be on when he drops his album. He does need a lot more content before he deserves this spot though.

A few Wu-Tang members can get a spot on my list. J Cole, gets a spot on my personal top 10(#1 as my favorite artist to listen to). DMX gets a spot.
