I'm so happy to see this:

The fighting is incredible and awesome.
CGI still sucks a little; I hope it is beta.

I can't wait...
I like the cgi with this art style it doesn't bother me. I believe this will be good. Next movie is said to have the sinister 6

The first one would've been the perfect superhero movie if they had just got The Lizard right :/ I grew up with the Lizard and they just massacred him...

Andrew Garfield is a great Spiderman but this film looks average. I LOVE the concept of worldbuilding they're doing (introducing 3 more villains with hints to like 5 other villains) but at the same time every single villain they touch they're ruining.

Rhino has a transformers michael bay mecha now? Electro looks like Mr Freeze from Batman & Robin? They stuck a good actor like Dane Dehaan in that awesome Goblin makeup? Atrocious.

That's 4 villains the series has done so far and they all look awful, it's also 3 attempts at making a decent Green Goblin costume and they've failed every time.

i just dont feel any sort of connection to what spiderman stands for in andrew garfields portrayal.
we dont see the turmoil he goes through. he isnt a dork. all the ladies swoon over him. hes like the guy that the girls want because hes a bad boy and that is NOT spiderman.
the aunt and uncle in the other movies were PERFECT. the love story in this one isnt even a love story; its a horribly awkward romance between two teenagers and i dont even care if it ends.
overall i would say that these movies are focused way more on the action and the plot rather than the human side of superheroes and the personal connection between characters.

the parents weren't in the original...

Uncle, Aunt, getting spider powers, using his powers for money, making the suit, Curt Conners...

I do like the new ideas they are using like Web Shooters, but the origin was so rushed and forced in...
All of these came from the original comic, it was the sh*tty 2000s Spiderman that made all their own crap and thought Tobey Maguire would seriously be a good casting for Peter Parker. Also rushed? Forced in? It was the whole plot of the movie, it didn't spend a full 2 hours doing it like the other one because everybody knows the Spiderman story and Hollywood has been desensitized to Origin stories. Amazing Spiderman was so much better than any of the Maguire films imo. The only problem was with the Lizard.

Web shooters are comic accurate actually... That's how it was originally
really? I knew about their existence but I didn't know they came first...

honestly I like the idea of him getting spider powers better even if its not canon...

the Origin with Uncle Ben was the main reasons he became a hero...

in this movie not only was it sudden, but it was poorly executed....

in the original I actually felt bad that he died, plus Peter got revenge afterwards...

He did get spider powers, the only thing he made himself are the web shooters which I didn't like myself for about...5 days. It just shows how smart Peter actually was and it gives him a limit, also technically how was he even swinging and also spiders spew webs with their ass. Web shooters are a much better option if you wanna be real about it... The web shooters are such a minor part of the film though and aren't worth analysing.

And I personally disagree, it was just more subtle and didn't throw it in your face like the other one. Nothing about the Maguire films are subtle, it's just a lifeless power rangers with miscast actors and bright neon masks. I agree with the getting revenge part but it wasn't absolutely necessary when there was so much more impact in the actual death of Ben (literally being Peter's fault instead of Maguire one where it was just chance) that it didn't need it.

all he had was strength, agility, and spider sense...

talk about underpowered...

in the cartoons web shooters are a BIG disadvantage 1: they can break 2: you have to refill them 3: you have to hide them...

the original films could have been better, personally I love the Gwen Stacy over Mary Jane...

the new Peter is not a nerd, and he seems like he would fit better in Twilight...

J.J. is hilarious and no one is funnier than him...

okay maybe the movies were over the top but I love that about them...

plus how is Peter's identity a secret? even I would have figured out he is spider man by now...

so? also Spiderman isn't meant to be some OP marvel demigod, power doesn't even matter in Spiderman movies, you might be watching for the wrong reason otherwise.

What you seem to be describing as criticisms of the movie is just that you want the reboot to be the same as the original. This isn't Hollywood 2001 anymore. The superhero genre can be taken seriously and there are 5 films for the new Spidey universe to unravel, give them a chance. There's loads of things the originals didn't have either. Correct female lead, correct timeline, they didn't have Peter schoollife, they didn't have the police department subplot... they barely had Peter Parker...Both have pros and cons but my personal favourite is Amazing Spiderman. To be totally honest as much as I know it's a bad movie...I LOVE Spiderman 3. Always have as a kid and still now so I understand where you might be coming from. I think all 3 films are bad films but at least Spiderman 3 has fun with it.

the new Peter is not a nerd, and he seems like he would fit better in Twilight...
Don't disrespect my Garfield like that please ^-^
Just because he is good looking does NOT make him not Peter Parker. In fact the 'nerd' Hollywood stereotype is so outdated and as this is a modern Spiderman film Peter is more like a common geeky student of today. We live in a time where 'Geekiness' is generally accepted, he IS the same awkward and nerdy Peter- just not as visually as previous versions. He still stutters, has awkward posture and body language, is a boy genius, fun-mannered and carefree when swinging through New York and has problems fitting in at school.

Sounds like Peter Parker to me, the criticisms of Garfield are always so shallow, like nobody has actually thought them through in any detail. See more than just face value and you'll realise Garfield was probably the second best thing about the (needed) reboot. Also is THIS seriously any better?

Well most of the villans design is based off Ultimate spiderman series where green goblin is a goblin, rhino is more a suit of armore/metal suit. And electro is basically pure electricit/ energy so with knowing that they did a good job.

Yeah definitely they're accurate but it remains to be seen whether they translate well into film. Personally i'm good with Electro so far, Rhino STILL looks silly compared to his comic version and Gobbles just looks like bad cosplay :/ at least give him a hood or something...

Agreed but I feel like with the rhino it's kinda hard to come up with a rhino based suit without it being too cheesy. Some things in comics don't transfer to film real well. With green goblin we have yet to see a good pick of his face so I have some hope.
I feel like they are trying to make the villains a little more realistic and practical (to some existent knowing most of this stiff is impossible) and just leave some things to the imagination instead of logic. Seeing people nitpick at small this can be annoying (not total king about you but people in general).
