they also didnt want raikage at 1st because he raged and destroyed the table

I first thought yes... for sure but then again... he was already old by the time he died... and years have passed since that time... i highly doubt he would still be hokage if he were alive... he would be the best suited for the job to bad he would be too old.
This also made me wonder who would have been the next hokage if the Third didn't die? who would have he appointed as his successor?

he would have appointed jiraiya, I bet... and the storyline would have continued as is.

Mifune would have choosed Hiruzen instrad. He's old, but he doesn't have back problems.

i would have loved to see him as the leader but sad to say he was too old and i think he might have picked kakashi to be hokage he had great respect for him, he wanted orocimaru to be hokage but you know the hole being crazy thing messed that up and the third couldent pick jiraiya 1. for the fact jiraiya didnt want the job 2. this would have pissed orocimaru off more and could have started more problems 3. the third couldent pick one of his pupals over the other just for the fact that he still had hope for orocimaru. but thats just me

He more than likely would have been chosen above every one else. Hiruzen was a highly respected man throughout the nations without any real connection to Akatsuki. His wisdom and knowledge would be perfect for the role as alliance leader.
