The nine tails seemed to know the 8 tails when he was in Naruto's inner mind. It also seemed like he was on less than friendly terms with the 8t. He said something like you should be ashamed for getting help from the 8t.

Well, the Hachibi already mentioned that he doesn't like the Kyuubi. Its sound to me like there's some beef between the two. Maybe the met some time in the past and had a battle of epic proportions.

The 9 tails natually has more chakra than the 8 tails. So I mean its kinda obvious that the 9 tails would win. Plus he has a extra tail. He could just slap him with it lol
