The 6th Great Ninja War
Chapter I: Into the Storm
It was a overcast and stormy morning, but oddly enough, there was a subtle lack of lightning in the skies of the Land of Fire. A mile away from the gates of Konohagakure, a messenger passed through the gates of a clan’s entrance, whose kanji for peace was their symbol. The messenger walked toward the center of the nice settlement and approached a regular-sized Japanese house, with highly intricate designs of kanji and musical entities etched into it. The front door was made of marble and accompanied by Corinthian Greek columns on each side. To the side of the main house was a walkway leading out from one of the rooms and a pond filled with Koi fish and Japanese garden objects. The messenger entered without announcement and walked towards the den of the house. The fireplace was lit, but it was brighter than a regular fire and had a golden hue to it. A man was sitting in a chair, chewing on a toothpick and reading the Bingo Book. The room was very dim, so all that could be seen of him were his golden eyes. When he noticed the messenger enter, he shut the book with three fingers and stared as if expecting the messenger to speak.
???: Who let you into this settlement? *raises eyebrow*
Messenger: Master, Lady Hokage requests an immediate audience with you. U_U
???: Rei? She wants to see me? *sigh* Well, well, this is truly something that hasn’t happened in a while. Thanks for the message. Now, please leave.
Messenger: Yes, sir. o_o
The messenger took his leave. The man rose from his chair and smirked. The toothpick that was in his mouth began to steam and then slowly burnt to ashes.
???: Why must you always be so impatient, Rei.
At the Hokage Mansion, Lady Rei was signing a few papers and approving/declining applications. She had long, mellifluous black hair and radiant green eyes and was quite young, in her mid 20s. There was a knock at the door, so she sent her assistant to get it.
Amaya: Come in…
The man from the settlement walked in, and when Rei looked up, she removed her glasses.
Rei: Roku. It seems you received my message.
Roku: Yes, well, the messenger was a bit more ballsy than usual. The messengers Bianca used to send would always be shaking with fear, despite their efforts to hide it. Maybe it’s my dashing gold eyes.
Rei: It’s good to see you again, Roku.
Roku: I should say the same about you. You’ve gotten older but still look as youthful as ever.
Rei: Like Lady Tsunade used to say. Sake works better than a hundred beauty products.
Roku: *chuckles* Alright. Now, what exactly happened that you sent for me?
Rei: There are rumors of the 6th Great Ninja War circulating. Riots and ship raids have occurred all along the coasts of Kirigakure. The amount of missing ninjas has increased by a factor of 5 in each of the Five Great Ninja Villages. Three days ago, at midday, a group of former Jounin-level ninja from the Hidden Grass Village burned down several small towns near the Fire Temple. I sent three of our Jounin, Wrath, Riku, and Mugiwara, to track down the group of Jounin and put an end to them.
Roku: Any word from them, yet?
Rei: Not yet, but I should be receiving information later today.
Roku: This sounds just like what happened before the 5th Great Ninja War. Anything else?
Rei: *stands up and looks through window* A week and a half ago, I got a distress call from Naruto in Kumogakure. He’s been taken prisoner along with several other chunin and jounin who have been distributed amongst the highest security prisons in the Hidden Cloud and Mist villages. It seemed like every rogue ninja was aligning with the Mist and Cloud villages.
Roku: Naruto was captured? O_O
Roku’s mood changed from calmness to concern.
Roku: Why would Kumogakure violate our peace treaty like that?
Rei: It’s that no-good Raikage of theirs, Kirabi.
Roku: Kirabi? O_O That kid is the new Raikage?
Rei: Yes, and unfortunately he’s become even more powerful than the last Raikage.
Roku: How? I saw him fight in the International Jounin Bout. He’s strong, but not at that level.
Rei: Kirabi acquired the last Raikage’s power through a Forbidden Jutsu that allows him to steal the energy of whoever he uses it on. When the last Raikage was killed by an assassin, Kirabi was his assistant, and thus the closest person to him. He must have planned it out and killed his Master.
Roku: *clenches fist* Mizutoki, my friend, was killed by Kirabi? ………what a shame.
Rei: Anyhow, the prisons are guarded by shinobi of the premier levels. We, being the Kazekage and I, don’t know everyone guarding the prisons yet, but we are pretty sure that Gatsndshanks and Shigure are two of them. We also have some leads that say Kaito is as well.
Roku: Gats?! Kaito?! O_O Those are really some tough ninja. What’d you do about it?
Rei: I sent Ragnaroc and Bishamon on a top-secret mission four days ago to liberate each of the prisons. No word from them yet. I have a mission for you. You will lead a team of 4 highly skilled shinobi. They’re listed in the Bingo Book as some of the world’s strongest ninja, so I needed to choose a strong shinobi that could lead them.
Roku: Oh, really?
Rei: This will be one of the toughest missions I’ve ever given. It may even be suicidal…
Roku: You can trust me with whatever you throw at me. The mission will be a success.
Rei: It’s not you that I’m worried about. It’s two the subordinates. This is their first S-rank mission of this stature. They may get killed.
Roku: Whoever they are, I promise you that I’ll protect them with my life >=|
Rei: *sighs* Okay…your mission is…
Ten minutes later, four ninja were lined up in wait at Konoha’s northern gate, each prepared to go on the road. One of them was a well-built man with brown hair and two red dots on his forehead. Another was a short green-haired 16 year-old who was picking his ears out with his pinkie. The third was a young, spiky brown-haired man with the emblem of the Sarutobi household on his outfit. He was equipped with a variety of weapons. The last was a shirtless young man sporting black shorts, a sword, a red necklace, and a hat topped off with glasses positioned on the hat. On his left shoulder there was a tattoo that read “ASCE”. Roku appeared in a flash before the four. He took out a blank orange seal and placed it on one of the doors before activating it. After activation, the seal displayed a number 3 with the Kiyoshi Clan kanji for peace.
Roku: You four are Elite Ninja chosen directly by the Hokage to serve as teammates with me for this exceedingly vital task. Goro Kaguya, Kiwii, Hiruzen, and Ace, this mission will test your very skill to the bitter end. I am proud to be working as your teammate, and I hope that you will see the same way about me. I understand that two of you, Ace and Kiwii, have never been on a mission of this level before. It will be a long and gruelingly dangerous task, but I assure you, we will succeed. O_O

Goro: Captain Roku, what exactly is our mission?
Kiwii: Yeah, we were not informed of it. Just that it is a mission at the highest S-ranked capacity.
Roku: Our mission is…to kill the 7th and current Raikage, Kirabi. O_O
