The 6th Great Ninja War
Chapter XV: Verify
Akira led the group into a deep forest, in which the light of the morning sun shined down in different areas in the form of a ray of redeeming light.
Goro: This place seems so strange. It’s like…there’s something almost magical about this forest.
Ace: It’s so bright and lively.
A joyful blue bird flew past Ace and circled him, landing on his shoulder at last.
Ace: O_O Woah…hey there little fella…
Hiruzen: Ace…what are you doing?
The bird chirped at Hiruzen and then flew off.
Ace: You scared him, Hiruzen.
Hiruzen:
Roku:
Caliburn: I can feel stupendous amounts of the purest energy here. It’s so tranquil…so perfectly harmonized…I would mind settling down here…*looks up* one day
Akira: You know, you’re pretty dramatic…o.o
Caliburn: *sigh* What can I say? :|
Akira faced forward and stopped suddenly. There was a very large tree, with wood in perfect condition and moss growing on its bark as green as the leaves of the tree. In the very front of the tree, however, was a door which seemed to be merged into the large tree. The door was made of the same wood, but carved intricately. There were several patterns and designs on the door that made it look very sophisticated, but its age was also very apparent. There was but one lock on the door, and that lock was made of a celestial bronze metal. Next to the lock were five dots, each with ridges and lines that resembled those on a human finger.
Akira: We’re here O_O
Goro: This is it?
Ace: I thought it’d be much bigger than this. 0_o
Roku: I wish you could see the inside…it’s pretty incredible O_O
Roku walked up to the door and placed each of his fingers on the five dots next to the door’s lock. His fingers glowed white and then gold and then white again.
Roku: The door’s seal reads your chakra, your intentions, you heart, and your soul. When you do what I do and it deems you worthy, you will be able to enter. Goro, Ace, Hiruzen, protect this door with your life O_O
Hiruzen: Our lives for a door?
Akira: Pretty much o_o
Roku suddenly disintegrated slowly and ended up as nothing more than gold dust on the ground.
Goro: Wow…that’s sweet!
Akira: My turn *cracks neck*
Akira did the same as Roku, and he too disintegrated into nothing but black and white dust.
Caliburn: Good luck, guys. O_O
Caliburn touched the tree’s key and his hand glowed, followed by a surge of white light throughout his entire body. Goro, Hiruzen, and Ace averted their eyes from the brightness. From behind a nearby tree, a rope whizzed by the team and latched around Caliburn’s arm tightly. Caliburn’s eyes widened, and he looked to the source, which was behind a tree. Caliburn’s eyes glowed teal green and he gasped.
Caliburn: You!
The person behind the tree walked slowly out from behind, a tiger seal formed, holding the end of the rope between his hands as he held the tiger seal.
Hiruzen: Kaito? O_O
Ace: How did you find us!
Hiruzen: Don’t ask! Attack him!
Kaito: Ninja Art: Two Become One!
Kaito’s rope started to glow white as well and then his arms did too. Hiruzen pulled two chains with blades at the ends out and threw them at Kaito. Goro shot bone bullets from his hands, and Ace stretched his arm like rubber to punch Kaito, but Kaito and Caliburn, in a flash, transformed. As the flash promptly cleared, nothing was left but their physical bodies, in the form of stone. Goro’s bone fingers shattered against the hard stone. The rope, which had also turned to stone, however, was glowing white still.
Ace: What the heck just happened? O_O
Goro: ……………
Hiruzen: *sigh* No way! No way! Caliburn was turned to stone! o__o
Goro: Okay, okay. Calm down. He might still be alive. Now, Kaito used some jutsu called Two in One or something?
Ace: Two Become One O_O
Hiruzen: So it turns them both to stone?
Goro: Kaito wouldn’t turn himself into stone as well. They must both be alive. There has to be something more to this jutsu! O_O
Hiruzen: I wish we had Yoshino-san…
Goro: O_O
Ace: We do!!
Ace opened his bag and took out a scroll: Yoshino’s scroll. He followed the instructions again and performed the summoning. In a large explosion of white smoke, steam, and unceasing coughing, a monkey burst out of the smokescreen screaming.
Yoshino: WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?!!?!?! O__O
Ace: Yoshino-san!!!
Yoshino: -_- Oh…you kids again.
Goro: Yoshino-san, we need your help.
Yoshino: Ugh. You called me out for help did you? Is Roku away again? 0_o
Hiruzen: Kind of…
Yoshino noticed the door.
Yoshino: My word! O_O The Hall of the Ancients.
Ace: You know about it? O_O
Yoshino: Of course I do! I helped them build it!! What a pain in the ass that was.
Goro: Just how old are you anyway?
Yoshino: Hundreds of years old. Maybe even a thousand or more. After the three-hundredth year, you stop counting. ~_~
Ace: Back on topic! Are you familiar with a “Two Become One” technique
Yoshino: Why do you ask? What happened? O_O
Ace pointed to the stone statues.
Yoshino: Uh oh O_O Whoever used it must have a sinister chakra medium. That technique links the fates of anyone the user desires and the user’s. Once it takes effect, well, this happens O_O And when this happens, they enter a state of an eternal battle until one is killed. When one is killed, the other will return to normal in the physical world and the loser will remain stone.
Goro: What?! O__O
Ace: But Caliburn was entering the Hall.
Yoshino sighed and released smoke from his pipe.
Yoshino: In that case, if Caliburn went into the Hall, so did this other guy. Since the Hall itself does not truly exist to those who do not know of its absolute truth, it is almost separate from this world. On a spiritual basis, it exists completely with no utterance of falsity.
Hiruzen: So Kaito could be anywhere in the Hall right now? O_O
Yoshino: Exactly. Since the door reads one’s intent, it will place your friend in the Hall away from his assailant.
Goro: So we can’t do anything. Not even destroy the statue?
Yoshino: NO! O_O If you destroy any of the statues, both of them will die. That is their shared fate.
Goro: That sucks! We’re of no use!
Ace: Well…all we can do is wait, I guess…
Yoshino: If you’ll excuse me…I’ll be going now.
???: Please don’t go so soon. It’s always been my lifelong dream to battle a living ninja monkey.
Yoshino: O-o You hide yourself quite well, whoever you are.
Ace: Uh oh O_O
Goro: Ali?
Ali: So I wasn’t forgotten about so soon, right Goro-sensei?
Hiruzen: What the…O_O
Yoshino: That sword…you are one of the Seven Mist’s swordmen.
Ali: Right! And I…
???: Don’t worry’ bout, monkey man. I have a bone to pick with this kid.
Ali: Elias.
Elias was standing on a big branch of a very tall tree, his arms folded and a confident smirk crossing his face.
Elias: Don’t any of you interfere.
Hiruzen: We never get to do anything >_<
Yoshino: Fighting him will be like fighting two people, so I suppose it’s only fair if I join.
Elias:
Fine………just try not to be a nuisance.
Yoshino: I should say the same to you, Fire Sage.
Ali: So...three masters of fire are here. This will be a great battle to quench the hunger of my sword.
Goro: He seems awfully confident...
Elias: Time to settle the score…
