Chapter V: Insolence, Treason, Judgment
Izure: Caliburn, huh?
Caliburn: That?s right. Seeing as how you?re one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, you?re going to be a pretty skilled opponent.
Yoshino: Caliburn? I?ve never heard of him.
Goro: He must be one of Roku?s student?s? I?ve never seen him in the village before, so I?d guess he?s a Kiyoshi O_O
Caliburn: That?s right, people.Before you guys left, Roku-san left a seal on the gate of Konoha that would activate in 3 days, telling me to follow you all and join the team as quickly as possible. He must have known that something would have happened near the leaf because same day that I left, Crutch Kaguya betrayed the Kiyoshi and killed several residents with a neurotoxin gas. I wasn?t there to stop him, but I was lucky to be called here.
Kiwii: There was a traitor amongst the Kiyoshi? What has this conflict elevated to?
Ace: Treason is always a sign of the beginning of a great war.
Caliburn: On my way, I learned that this lady here was tracking you all, so I sent a messenger bird to Roku to notify you guys. Looks like I made it in time?
Izure: My original target was Roku Kiyoshi. Where is he?
Caliburn: Roku-san won?t be joining us today. But you, on the other hand, will neither be meeting him today, nor even in this lifetime. I will put an end to you. *looks at everyone* Go toward the destination. I?ll handle this from here.
Izure: What makes you so confident? My sword, Spirit Reaper, is the largest of the Seven Swordsmen?s weapons. Its reach will extend to the skies and beyond!
Izure swung her sword horizontally, and despite her being at least 30 feet from Caliburn, Caliburn rolled to the side as the trees beside him began to be divided. Izure swung Spirit Reaper into the air, slicing an unfortunate bird in half.
Izure: Do you see? My sword?s reach is beyond any man?s escape.
Caliburn: (thinks: that doesn?t make sense. How is her sword able to hit what it doesn?t touch? That?s impossible. No sword could have that type of ability?unless?) Hmph.
Izure formed several handseals and puffed her cheeks up.
Izure: Katon: Fenikkusu Dansu (Fire Release: Phoenix Dance)!
Izure suddenly spit out a flare of fire that shaped into a phoenix and soared at Caliburn at high speed. Caliburn reacted reflexively, throwing his two swords in his hands into the air and turning his head up so that he could grab the weapon in his mouth with his right hand downward and twirl it in his hand for two seconds and then catch the two swords in the air with his left hand. The phoenix was close. Caliburn grazed the three swords against each other, and once he did so, they started glowing white.
Caliburn: Tenrai Kiritentou (Divine Slash of the Heavens)
Caliburn slashed all three swords at phoenix, resulting in a large collision of chakra, but Caliburn?s attack prevailed and a straight slicing wave of chakra ran toward Izure after cutting through the fire phoenix. Izure repositioned her sword and sliced sideways, cutting the wave horizontally in half, and, with delayed reaction, Caliburn ducked to just barely the extended reach of Izure?s sword. Yoshino yelled for everyone else to duck and they did as to avoid being sliced in half while they were running from the battlefield. Izure held her sword to the side. Caliburn sent another Divine Slash at Izure, who flipped quickly to the right, spinning in the air from left to right, at which point she brought her sword around, grazing the ground, and turned to the side in midair to release several white spheres of energy that flew rapidly toward Caliburn.
Izure: Tenkyuu (Celestial Spheres)
Caliburn snapped his fingers!
Caliburn: I?ve got it! O_O
Caliburn realized the celestial spheres heading for him and stuck his hands out.
Caliburn: Kiyoshi Style: Energy Wave!
A semi-invisible pulse of energy shot out of his palms and collided in a rippling struggle of power between the celestial spheres and the energy wave, but eventually the attacks canceled out. Without a moment?s notice, Caliburn came out of nowhere and struck Izure from behind, before she could even react! Izure leaped backward, though Caliburn was able to make a deep cut across her back. Caliburn flew forward, propelled by his chakra, and slashed at Izure again. This time, however, Izure blocked the attack with minor struggle, but what she didn?t expect was for Caliburn to throw the sword in his mouth at her point blank, grazing her across the cheek with it. As blood spilled out of the wound, Caliburn positioned his sword to have the tip facing Izure and thrust it in a jabbing motion into her right shoulder. Izure dropped her sword, Spirit Reaper, and fell down in pain, screaming. Caliburn unsheathed his longest sword, which was on his back. It was a shining silver sword with a demonic red hilt and black rope around it. He held it up, as if ready to behead Izure.
Caliburn: I figured it out. That sword of yours is simply a filter through which you channel your own chakra through, allowing it to amplify it greatly, which gives it its incredible reach. When you used that Tenkyuu jutsu, I realized that even though your slashed in my direction, nothing happened. I also deduced that if you were filtering your chakra into the Spirit Reaper, all I needed to do was break that connection. Thus, I used Energy Wave to temporarily sever it, because as all Kiyoshi techniques use Energy instead of Chakra, they can separate the physical and spiritual properties of a completely chakra-only attack and convert that energy into pure energy, which you cannot control. So, I got in close combat and stabbed your shoulder, where one of the most important chakra network zones are, cutting you off from transferring chakra through your right arm. It?s funny how you said your weapon will extend reaches beyond any man?s escape, and here you are, laying on the ground cowering in fear of my sword reaching down to you.
Izure: You bastard! You will rue this day. I swear on your grave that you will be sorry that you and I ever crossed paths. If I die, the other Swordsmen will be out for you and if Kaito-sama gets to you, then it?ll be too late!
Caliburn: Let them come at me. I?ll be waiting to slice each and every one of them in two. And if Kaito-sensei is going to be out for me, it only makes me want to kill you even more.
Izure: What?! Why would you?
Caliburn: You wouldn?t understand the need to surpass one?s master, would you? In the end, you turned out to be as incompetent as your student.
Izure: DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SWEAR I WILL FIND A WAY TO DESTROY YOU BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! DAMMIT!
Izure formed several handseals with a single hand!
Izure: KATON!!
Caliburn: Reverse Blade
Caliburn drove his weapon down, slicing Izure in half as she began to ignite, preventing her jutsu from continuing, but instead of her being completely sliced, her body remained intact for one moment, and then the next, blood exploded from the sides and Izure front and back halves were covered in blood as they hit the ground.
MEANWHILE
Yoshino, Goro, Kiwii, Ace, and Hiruzen reached the Kiyoshi settlement, but they did not get the welcome they expected. There were two dead guards, stripped of their clothes, and two live men dressed in the guards? attire. They smirked, chuckling while doing so as they saw the reactions of Kiwii, Ace, Hiruzen, and Goro. Kiwii gulped.
Kiwii: Unbelievable. O_O
???: I?m sure you didn?t expect to see us here, huh?
???: Just look at their faces. They?re completely speechless.
The two men picked up the two lances of the dead guards. Goro stepped back tentatively.
Goro: Wrath?Mugi?you betrayed the leaf?
Wrath: Life throws a lot of funny things your way, doesn?t it?
Mugiwara: *notices the monkey* Who is?
Yoshino: Everyone, stand back. I think this fight is one I must handle alone. Don?t interfere without my consent?or you WILL die. And that?s not estimation. I?m saying this with all sincerity. Stay out of my way!
Ace: But?
Yoshino: Must I give you any more reason than that? An order?s an order. Follow it closely. Now listen to me. Goro, cover me. Kiwii, Ace, and Hiruzen?keep each other alive in the case that Goro and I die. If we?re lucky, we?ll last long enough for Roku to show up. If not?I must say, it?s been an honor serving with you all.
Wrath: *smirks* Let?s get this battle started then
