Terumi Mei. Will Kishi use her potential?

She wasnt the weakest kage against madara imo. That would be A. He needed help to do something Tsunade could do by herself (smash through susanoo). Mei's hidden mist jutsu came in handy. She was also able to save Tsunade from that giant katon, which when used for the first time, needed 10 people block it. And it was because of her they were able to get that final hit on madara (they used her water dragon as a base for various other techniques).

Yeah, her water jutsus were pretty useful. Raikage A might have been less useful indeed in the Madara battle.
I really liked his combo with Onoki though .

Still, she could have been made in one of the coolest kages with a few extra tweaks and maybe Kishi still has something in store for her (I hope). A his defence is his speed. Tsunade has her healing moves, Byakugo and endurance. Gaara has his sand and flight. Onoki has his flight and Golem. Mei has nothing so far. That seems to hurt her the most.

One tweak like if she could use the Hozuki water form or blend in the lava and boil, that would have completely changed her fighting power from not that impressive to really good imo. It would have complemented her character. She feels unfinished to me.

I don't think she was THAT useless in the fight against Madara. She provided good supporting jutsu and usually bought her allies some time. She wasn't a star player or anything but only Onoki and Tsunade seem to be able to claim that role in that certain fight. What's really trolled is her KG to be honest. Lava release seems to have even less diversity than Katons do >_> I'm sure her acidic release is more than the mist but we haven't seen any other jutsu as of yet. Would be pretty cool to see some acidic bubbles or something. Or even like one of my friends once said, a giant lava dragon that spits out controlled acid.

She is a walking *** object who won't shut up about being married. I'm surprised she has actually been involved in a fight. And I haven't dared read through this thread, but I imagine a lot of the replies are about her looks and not her skills.

I might have overlooked some usefulness of her a tad when I talked about the Madara part(others pointed this out as well, Ill edit the main post a bit). It has a bit to do with my disappointment. I had such high hopes for this character. In her introduction I was like ''awesome character'' and than she was kinda left unfinished imo.But yeah she had some uses in the fight, like the mist she used, the firejutsu of Madara that she countered with a water jutsu. The water dragon that was the base for their 5 kage combo. Still she was far behind Onoki, Gaara and Tsunade. She is the only known person with 2 kekkei genkai, yet she hardly used them vs Madara (1 lava release attack or so). If Kishi would have made her use those more, if he would have let those jutsus shine, than she would be on par with the 3 in the sentence above I think.

Yeah there are many interesting options for her. It is possible to be really creative with her character. Although I would rather see some abilities that would allow her to avoid and/or defend. She has shown mostly attack jutsus so far.

Lava release from Mei seems to be in the Katon diversity league indeed.
However Dodai's Katon and Kurotsuchi's Katon are pretty diverse with the rubber and cement abilities,
the latter being possible due to adding water element after it though.

She was introduced with 2 Kekkei genkai. A kage from a village that used to kill people with Kekkei genkai and she managed to become kage of that village.She could have an awesome background story. I liked her character and expected Kishi to do something great with her.

The problem here is that people keep focusing on her being a woman. She's a "female Kage" rather than just "Kage". Her entire 'personality' is based around being a woman, rather than actually being/having a character like most men do in fictional series.

Also, it didn't help that she's designed to please the male fanbase - One can only take a look at all those braindead posters in the 'who's the hottest chick in Naruto' threads.

I feel like Konohamaru is just a funny kid and the whole pervy stuff Naruto and him do has some innocence/is playful at the same time. I dont see it as ''yay boobs'' or something like that, that you see around the base in those hottest threads that you mention. At the same time It puts a smile on my face when Naruto is getting smacked miles away by Sakura as well . Sometimes I have a gaara sig, sometimes Kakashi, than Sakura, than the Sannin, sometimes its not Naruto related, and right now it is Konohamaru.

I read it. And you are right, I don't know you. But I suppose you've heard of something called 'first impression'? You're not doing a very good job at it. Your sig is a fair indicator, so don't bother trying to weasel out of that one.

First of all, her design makes it very hard to take her seriously. It's hard to think well of a character when even the creator obviously does not.

Secondly, I'll just flat out say it: it's too late for her to have her time in the spotlight. Naruto is supposed to end in, what, one year? Just think of all the characters we have to deal with at the moment, and how many characters that have been neglected that ALSO need some precious screen time. Between Madara, Obito, the Ten-Tails, the entire Ninja Alliance, Naruto, Sasuke, the four Hokage, Orochimaru, Kakashi, the Konoha 11, the other current Kage and a nice, non-rushed ending, I doubt the focus will shift to her, of all characters. Someone who was introduced as a weak character right from the very beginning. Where would you put a Mei flashback now? What, when Tsunade heals her? Why would we be interested in her life NOW, when the entire world is fighting for its very survival?

Having a first impression of someone doesnt have to make that judgement right. If you jump to conclusions based on a little thing as a sig, makes you seem very narrow minded to me. Shouldnt project your frustrations that you have with people in threads or somewhere else, on me. Doesnt have anything to do with internet honor. I just really dislike your behaviour and tone and i felt the need to respond. I am allowed to. Anyway, believe what you want to believe.

About Mei.
I talked about what I would have liked to have seen from her. But that is not gonna happen anymore, cause that should have been done in chapters in the past. Many characters have flashbacks about their background though and a kage having a small one wouldnt be that weird, although it might be to late. Maybe when a new Mizukage has to be selected, some room for her flashback could be shown, who knows (maybe it will fit, maybe it wont).
Kishi could still make her pull out some good jutsu, cause she wont be healed up for nothing I guess. Even though the manga is nearing at its end, there is room for stuff like that. Hinata has a moment in the spotlight right now. Ino did an improved shintenshin. Lee has his moment to shine by kicking Madara in half.

That Kishi doesnt take her seriously or that her design makes her not possible to be taken seriously is your opinion btw and not fact. For you, apparently a joke about marriage or a character having large breasts=not get taken seriously.
Others who are more openminded, might have a different opinion.
