I just posted that because it was something from the manga. It doesn't mean I agree with that holding any value (as in the most basic sense, it doesn't since like you said they are all dead... what villagers think of them no longer matters).

When I post, I'm also keeping in mind this is fiction, the shinobi setting, and the angle Kishimoto went for- I wouldn't justify any of the same things in real life (just so you know xD ).

Uhm, Itachi always was a terrorist. He did think that the outcome justifies the means, that's it.
Also, he requested Sasuke to murder his best friend in order to get the Mangekyou Sharingan, which is not something a good person should do.
