The girls aren't innocent, they are bloody stupid teenagers. I know stupid teens can be very very damn annoying but normal people don't stab them for that. It's not name-calling that causes bully victims to flip, it's the damaging of status. He was clearly an "outsider" type person in school, saying that the school viewed him as a wimp.

I doubt this assumption was based even on his actions, but rather that a group targeted him to make fun of. Bully victims probably don't care about the insults that much, however, what is truly damaging is basically becoming a school pariah.

After awhile, a bully victim becomes the joke for solidified groups, anything they say is instantly made-fun of or ignored (someone else could say the same thing and be praised for it), their achievements and strengths are downplayed while their weaknesses and screw-ups are magnified by others, others don't want to become friends with them at the risk of associating with them, and many times people just don't see these kids as human in school.

Adults don't care about name-calling (in general), because the work culture is performance based, not "being cool" based.

This kid was in the wrong for sure, but never underestimate the cruelty of kids in a school culture.

Don't get me wrong, I think 19 is still a kid. But at 19 he has some responsibilities, rights and so on so he is supposed to behave accordingly (the law says that at least and they say the law has a long arm, people fought the law and the law won, so you shouldn't go against it lmao). Or else I could argue that he shouldn't have those rights too. Which would be a very good idea but that's another subject
