Some people should not be cops.

Remember, there are good cops that die or risk their life every day and would never do something like this.*

*on purpose.

that's just one part that doesn't add up. If she sbot the kid point blank as he opened the door, why was she ready to fire in the 1st place? I thought the purpose of the visit was to serve a warrant. Was the father dangerous? Was he even home? Did dispatch tell her that the suspect was armed and dangerous?

You are right, a number of things don't add up. It's clear by her reported actions that she didn't mean to kill the kid, but this also doesn't mean she is a good person either. Again I ask what would have happened if the father answered the door? Would he have been shot? There is so much that needs to be investigated before judgment can be passed either way.

Yeah, you're right. But it seems like there's some important facts left out of the news report, and the whole picture wasn't presented to us. Sensational journalism and all that nonsense.

Either way, I hope she gets what she deserves, whether that be pardoned/forgiven or convicted/hated.

Chill ma brother. I am raging, Yes, but I'm definitely not a Psychopath. That's for sure. I saw many bad things that happened (Police Brutality and such). The more I see/read about it, the more grows my Hate against it.

The "Protectors of the Law" are corrupt. I won't say that there isn't one good man or woman in service to protect others, but I feel that a larger epidemic of law enforcers end up in this field of work simply to have a taste of power. It seems this woman was genuinely regretful of killing this poor young man, but I think that officers need to undergo some kind of psychological assessment before they are hired and put to use. There are way too many f**ked in the head cops who aren't working their jobs for the right reasons. We don't even hear about all the messed up stuff that really goes on.

This sort of thing is becoming all to common. Im sure most policeman, dont mean to do it. But it is the result of the training and procedures. Basically they are being taught more or less the opposite of the justice system(innocent until proven guilty).

The police are taught innocent until suspected guilty.

Go watch that station that broadcasts policemen. If you notice, most of the guys seem to have good intent. But they are SO ROUGH, and VIOLENT. I understand, that they are trained that way to reduce the chance of injury.

This is not a police that treats its citizens properly.

This incident shouldve had the officer useing a taser, instead of bullets, for a situation like this. (which honestly, there shouldve been no reason for the officer to have weapons drawn anyways.)

The KID went to the door and asked who is it. He simply opened the door to see who it was/let them in. And he was shot.

To me it sounds like the officer approached the door with gun drawn, and had a finger on the trigger(which is a gun safety no no. You have your finger off the trigger unless you intend on shooting, and rest it on the trigger guard or alongside the barrel)

So it sounds like it is both a combination, of treating a person who merely answers the door as if a dangerous hardened criminal(haveing weapon drawn, and raised), and haveing improper training(haveing the finger on the trigger)

Both the above is assumed. I assume that as soon as the kid opened the door he was shot.(by a accidental reflex by the officer)

If the above is true, then in my opinion 2 things are needed.

One is the police department, needs to not be approaching a home which they intend to talk peacefully, with weapons drawn.(a person on parole, wont be dumb enough to just shoot police officers who knock on the door. He may threaten, but he wouldnt shoot on sight.(as such no reason to have weapons drawn)

2 is that the officer needs to have better training, regarding her gun safety. She clearly(again im under the assumption of the above 2 things), needs to not have her finger on the trigger.

I think the officer is a victim, of the police training and methods. I do not think she meant to shoot him. I think that she had some poor gun safety(again I am makeing assumptions on the assumption, that she did not just draw gun and shoot after seeing the wiimote, but she already had the weapon drawn). I think she is also the victim of the police training, where they pretty much treat everyone as a potential lethal criminal.

It is sad though that this kid died. And the officer should certainly be put on suspention for a while, and have some retraining.(again assumeing the event went the way I think it did, and that it was more a result of police training, or lack of)

Seriously watch the police show sometime. They can be really brutal. You will see that they are being taught more of "shoot first ask questions later(usually shooting involves a taser)"

Perhaps that is just a tv bias, where they only focus on the more brutal clips. But regardless, when you are taseing someone who is bleeding heavily after flipping their car speeding in a chase, who is clearly unarmed, and barely able to crawl out of their vehicle....that is too far.....regardless.

I wish the best for this kids family, and if the officer didnt have bad intent(which it seems like), that she can learn to get over this unfortunant event.

At first I thought to myself "Wow, this cop must be an idiot," but it looks like she made a mistake. While I believe that she should be at the very least suspended from duty for a while, we shouldn't be too hard on her. It sounds like she panicked and she is clearly in distress from what happened, and she has to live every day knowing that this mistake cost an innocent and young person their life. She doesn't need people condemning her further for it.
