~~~~~~~~~~~AUTHOR'S NOTES~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wish I knew how to indent, it'd make reading this thing a little easier if my paragraphs were spaced appropriately. In any case, chapter two is still when I was just trying to get things set up in the Team Seikashi world. If it seems rushed, that's because it is! lol.
In advance, sorry if you dislike this!
EDIT: I fixed the format!
CHAPTER TWO: NYUUKAISHIKI!
___"Nani!?" A shriek cried out, causing birds to fly from their birches amongst the leaves. Saiounji Hanadoru was standing under the tree, plugging both of his ears with his index fingers. In front of him were the two girls. The pale-looking girl was standing by a large rock with her hands folded at her lap. Her golden-yellow eyes watched the other for a brief second before looking away.
___"You mean that the only way I can become a ninja is by teaming up with this... this..." The healthier-looking girl was standing in front of Saiounji, yelling at the top of her voice. She pointed towards the pale girl, turning to her somewhat before returning her attention to Saiounji. "...this thing!?"
___"Shikari," Saiounji spoke with a clear voice, but also in a soft tone as though he were trying to ease a difficult situation. He raised his hands to gently push the twelve-year-old in front of him back a few steps so she wouldn't be right in front of him the next time she screamed. "Kanako here isn't an object, she's a person. According to her record, she's a very talented girl. You two should be able to--"
___"I'm not partnering up with a demon seed like her!" Shikari shouted out, interrupting Saiounji. Those chocolate-brown eyes shifted towards Kanako, who by now had turned away. "Isn't there anyone else I could team up with? Someone who's actually normal?"
___Saiounji sighed and shook his head. His own turquoise-colored eyes shifted towards Kanako. Kanako had turned away from the other two and proceeded to walk away and make her way back to the village.
___"Kanako," Saiounji called out to her. Kanako stopped when her name was mentioned and turned towards Saiounji. Shikari shrugged and crossed her arms, scoffing at Kanako in general.
___"Kanako, what do you think? Do you want to be Shikari's teammate or would you rather not be a ninja at all?" Saiounji's tone was a little less strict towards this one.
___"I guess it's fine..." Kanako spoke in a quiet voice, prompting Shikari to raise a hand up to her ear to mock her. Kanako offered a light smile towards Shikari. "I promise not to hold you back, Shikari-san."
___"Right… tch. I still want a new teammate. Someone who won't steal my soul when I'm asleep." Shikari jeered, turning to Saiounji after a moment. After seeing how set he was on the situation, Shikari just sighed and began to walk away. "Fine... just don't get in my way of becoming a great ninja!"
___Kanako laughed a little at Shikari's jeering, though when Shikari walked away, Kanako frowned and lowered her eyes to the ground. Saiounji shook his head before raising his right hand up to his chest. A swarm of flower petals formed around his body before a gust of wind blew them away. When the flower petals flew away, he had disappeared.
___"Oi, just because we're on the same team, it doesn't mean you have to be up my ass everywhere I go." Shikari's voice broke the silence of the quiet meadow tanning under the midday sun. Shikari and Kanako were standing by a wooden post. Shikari's arms were crossed over her chest while staring at Kanako with her brown eyes.
___"Hanadoru-sensei disappeared, I wasn't sure if that meant we're done for the day or not." Kanako murmured, her golden-yellow eyes shifted away and looked at the ground. She spoke with her usual quiet voice. "Shouldn't we talk and get to know each other since we're on the same team?"
___"Get to know each other?" Shikari raised a brow. "What's there to know!? I'm part of the great Nara Clan of Konoha and you're a demon seed that Hokage-jiichan is too weak-hearted to banish. My goal is to become a proud Konoha shinobi while your goal is to destroy Konoha. See? I already know what needs to be known!"
___"None of that's true!" Kanako shouted at Shikari, Her golden-yellow eyes began to form tears, though she wiped them away with her forearm. "Stop trusting rumors, thinking they're true!"
___Kanako clenched her fists though they slowly opened up while she bit her lower lip. She attempted to speak again before a gust of wind blew by, followed by a swarm of flower petals. When the flower petals disappeared, Saiounji stood in front of them.
___"Enough arguing. It's time we figure out whether or not you're both ready to become true ninja." Saiounji's voice broke the silence between the two bickering girls. His voice was clear and sterner than before. "I placed a bell in the forest. Your goal is to find it."
___"Piece of cake!" Shikari grinned and began to stretch. "So I find this bell and I become a Ninja, right."
___"Hm. Yes, you could say that." Saiounji nodded his head while closing his eyes and bringing his hand up to his chin. He gave a slight smile and motioned his hand towards the forest. "However, whoever doesn't get the bell will never be allowed to become a shinobi."
___"That's not fair!" Shikari shouted at Saiounji before pointing towards Kanako. "She'll no doubt attempt to get it first just to spite me!"
___"Then you probably shouldn't have teased her this whole time." Saiounji smiled and tilted his head. "Another rule, I'll be attempting to grab the bell. If I end up grabbing it before either of you, then both of you fail and neither of you will ever become a shinobi."
___"W-What!?" Shikari stared at Saiounji. She could see her dreams and goals fade away in front of her. "How is that fair!? You already know where the bell is and we don't! Of course you're gonna get the bell before us!"
___"Those are the rules. I'll give you both a ten minute head start. Starting..." Saiounji raised his left had, which had a watch around the wrist. His right arm rose up into the air as though he were raising his hand to be called on in class. During this moment of silence, the gentle wind blew by, causing leaves to drift between the three. Shikari and Kanako share a glance to each other. Shikari's eyes were filled with anger towards her while Kanako's eyes, for once, didn't drift away or lower to the ground.
___"....Now!" Saiounji threw his hand down, horizontally towards the forest of Konoha. The moment this happened, Kanako disappeared. Shikari's eyes widened a little at the speed and was set back before she too disappeared. They both left Saiounji standing in the meadow, watching his wristwatch closely. The time was 3:00pm.
___"I wonder how they'll do..." Saiounji questioned himself as he turned his attention towards the forest. "More importantly... I wonder if they'll realize the purpose of this test. Kakashi-senpai did recommend something like this, after-all."
___Shikari began hopping from tree branch to tree branch, keeping her eyes peeled for any shiny object resembling a bell. Every time she landed, she had to crouch down and spring with her leg strength again, using her hands to keep her footing on the branches.
___"If I find it before the ten minutes is up, not only would I prove my worth to pretty-boy, but I'll also make that freak look so bad, she wouldn't bother showing her face again." Shikari thought to herself, forming a grin across her face.
___Meanwhile, Kanako had placed herself hidden in a group of shrubs, hiding herself amongst the leaves. She made sure to be able to peak out at the path in front her. She closed her eyes began to focus on the task at hand. Tiny threads, nearly invisible to the naked eye, surrounded the area around the group of shrubs. These threads joined together beside her, wrapping around a stick that had been stabbed into the ground. Kanako opened her and inched her hand close towards where the threads were tied down.
___"I'm sorry, Shikari-san," Kanako thought to herself, her golden-yellows narrowing as the wind blew by. "But I need to become a shinobi and do what I have to, to complete my goal."
___Saiounji glanced at his watch again. He silently nodded his head and took a deep breath before forming a light smile.
___"Show me, children. Show me if you're worthy of becoming true shinobi." Saioujin spoke in a clear voice. Of course, there was no one there to hear him. It was more of a battle speech more than anything. The moment the wristwatch he had clicked on 3:10pm, Saiounji disappeared threw a whirlwind of flower petals.
