Without CST or CT, Gaara might be able to solo. Team red head stomp because Juugo is terribly outclassed by the other redheads.

People really need to read the restrictions. Pain isn't soloing anything here without CT or CST.

Juugo is useless here as well.

Team 2 wins without too much difficulty.

How so? Jūgo is way out of his league here, but nobody in Team 2 can stand up to Pain when the latter can just spam summonings to keep Gaara busy and one shot Mei, Sasori, and Kushina with Banshō Ten'in + Shuradō or Ningendō. Gaara doesn't have the sealing power here necessary to use Sabaku Sōtaisō Fūin and put down the Cerebrus, unless the OP gives him sealing tags, but it's still going to be hard to defend and attack with 3 or 4 different summons blitzing including the Cerebrus who can split itself. All of the paths can ride on Chikūshudō's bird, except Tendō, who can fly, so Sabaku Taisō isn't much of a problem either.

Kushina's chains can deal with any summons, they're good enough to hold down Kurama, they'll easily take care of any summon Animal path uses, so Gaara doesn't need to worry about the summonings.

Kushina could even trap them all in the barrier she used vs Kurama:

And this was done with her having very little chakra left:

Not even Hiruzen, the man with knowledge of every single Konoha jutsu, could figure out a way to get inside the barrier:

With that out of the way, Gaara is more than enough of a power house with the assistance of Sasori and Mei to destroy the remaining paths while Animal is stuck in the barrier with his summons.

Kushina could still fight even after using the barrier given she pulled it off on death's door, but she isn't needed here.

Good points, but problem is that Nagato is an Uzumaki, so he should be able to identify Kushina and her barrier/sealing ninjutsu + the chakra chains right away, not to mention that she won't get the chance to trap Chikushōdō before it calls on its 4 main offensive summons + the bird (its exectution speed is fast). Are you able to get a scan that gives us a rough estimate of the barrier's size? It may not be large enough to contain all of the summons, but I may be wrong. In all probability, Pain also has full intel on Sasori's abilities, and would get singled out as the most dangerous due to poison-laced Satetsu and would get Banshō Ten'in'd and/or blown up by Shuradō. Mei's only utility here is using the mist to inhibit Pain's sight, but that'll only work as a distraction for several seconds, and the scale of Gaara's sand is not what it was when he was Shukaku's jin, so the paths shouldn't have trouble dodging it while riding the bird.

He's had no connections with the Uzumaki in his life that I know of, though, so not sure that's accurate.

And she doesn't have to pull it off before the summons come out. Afterwards is fine too.

There's not a whole scan of it. The kyuubi helps give some perspective obviously, given he took up a good amount of space in the village, and it contained all of him+room for Kushina/Minato/The Reaper/Sealing "Crib" For Naruto/etc. Here's a full shot of the Kyuubi:

I dunno about full(unless Zetsu watched his fight with Chiyo/Sakura?), but some is likely. And that gameplan of yours is assuming Mei/Gaara/Kushina do absolutely nothing to assist Sasori. He's not fighting them all by his self, and Gaara can use sand at several different locations at once.

Mei's only utility here is using the mist to inhibit Pain's sight, but that'll only work as a distraction for several seconds

That's incorrect. She has the acid version of her mist(This has to be used strategically, of course, to avoid harming teammates), and her lava can pose a ton of problems too. One hit from that and any of the paths are done for. She also has her suiton mastery, which can be used mostly for defense of the team to assist Gaara.

Gaara can create sand from the earth with or without Shukaku:

NINJUTSU; Ryuusa Bakuryuu (Desert Quicksand Cascading Stream*)
User: Gaara
Offensive; Close, Medium, Long ranges; Rank: none

Main text

From the sand he is himself carrying, he grinds the rocks and minerals from underground into an homogenous sea of sand and manipulates it like a tsunami that engulfs absolutely all things in his line of sight!! This jutsu is for no one except Gaara, who lives up to his "Of the Desert*" namesake. This raging sea deals a lot of damage by itself, but one can further take advantage of the sand for a second and a third consecutive assault! That sublime succession of sand attacks has this jutsu as its starting point!!

so I'm not sure how or why that really matters in that regard, and several have noted Gaara's sand is as strong as ever even without it, including Naruto and Sauske:

The Uzumaki were famous for their many forms of barrier ninjutsu and fūinjutsu, and Nagato will at least notice the color of her hair, which is an Uzumaki trait, so he'll be alert to the possibility of Kushina using the chakra rods and other sealing techniques.

I see. Well, you do have a point about Kushina being able to restrain the summons and trap them within a barrier, but there must be some kind of limit to the number of chains Kushina can utilize at a time, plus the Cerebrus can split itself infinitely, so if she traps the latter she'll most likely be killed unless Gaara uses his sand to save her, but he'll be preocupied with the paths. Not to mention that Pain could withhold his other summonings and send in the Cerebrus first.

Pain was the pseudo-leader of the Akatsuki, so we can say the he at least has good intel on all of the members that joined. The only one who can counter Banshō Ten'in is Gaara. Kushina will most likely be dealing with the Cerebrus on the ground. Mei's techniques won't be very helpful whether she's on the ground or riding on Gaara's sand when the paths will all most likely be riding the bird summon. What Gaara can do is grab Sasori with his sand, but Sasori's puppet body doesn't adequately cover his core of living flesh, so a barrage of missles will either do devastating damage to Sasori, or may very well end up killing him.

The acid mist only poses a threat if the paths decide to enter its AoE, and the lava won't very useful in mid range combat against the paths, who will be airborne and far away from Gaara. If she tries to get close, she'll be killed by Shuradō or Tendō. Water Pillar is a good jutsu, but I'm not sure if it can defend against Shuradō's missiles.

I was referring to the sheer scale and potency of Gaara's sand techniques.

Gaara's war arc sand control feats don't really come close to these ones, and obviously the scale is much larger, with the sand taking on the form of Shukaku's very own sand and limbs. His ultimate defense was still intact, which was what Sasuke was referring to.

Well there's no need to attack the cerebrus if it's trapped in the barrier. I dunno how she's going to be killed by it when it's in the barrier.

Mei's techniques won't be very helpful whether she's on the ground or riding on Gaara's sand when the paths will all most likely be riding the bird summon. She has proficiency to fire her lava in over distances, not sure why it wouldn't be effective just cause their flying. They could keep trying to evade it, sure, but avoiding Gaara's sand, Mei's lava and Sasori's puppets all at the same time? Good luck.

Why can't Gaara's sand block the missiles? Or in a dire situation, Sasori use one(or multiple) of his 100 puppets to take the hit before it reaches him? I mean it's not as if Sasori is a sitting duck who is incapable of fighting..

Covered this above.

His scale was that great because he was in a desert/his "home field". He did similar things in fighting the Edo Kages/Madara in terms of scale, while in the desert. I mean I guess he loses the ability to use Shukaku's form with his sand, but that doesn't much matter here, those "limbs" didn't really add much use/anything that just his regular old unformed sand couldn't do.
