Tattoos: Are they frowned upon/a sin or are they art and meaningful/not a sin?

I consider it art. And even if it is a sin, I'm not religious anyways and plan to get a few once I get enough paychecks.

I have no tattoos because I don't like them and I couldn't work as a model with them, but I can't see why they're a sin

Depends on your religion, but even if there is a law like that (I know Judaism is very strict about tattoos being forbidden), there's no sin that can't be asked forgiveness for. I'd never do it just cause I don't want a tattoo, but to each their own really.

They're a sin according to the bible but i'm not a religious person so it doesn't apply to me, the word sin to me it's pretty much meaningless.

As for what i think about them... well... they're cool, some of them i guess, people get them for different reasons. Just don't get something you might regret later on like i did, since it's permanent. And they hurt like a mofo, getting a tattoo feels like someone cutting your hand with a razor.

Uhm, not really. Sure, pain is an individual feeling, but I don't have a high pain-limit, yet it didn't hurt when I got mine, 17cm x 8cm. Don't know how really big tattoos (an entire arm, the whole chest etc.) feel like tho. I almost fell asleep during the process. Only colouring-in some smaller areas felt a bit itchy, but still far from being painful.

exactly. it doesnt hurt bad, more like little pinches over and over. unless you get it in a spot with a lot of nerve endings or extensive coloring

OT: without a doubt its art, sin or not. probably the hardest medium because you cant mess up on someones skin and fix it easily. the meaning depends on the person

but yeah i have a few that i love. i also never planned on getting like an office job though, which when i was in school older members thought was a bad idea for my mom to let me. but they were wrong lol ive also seen a lot of fails with tattoos. all perspective
