(This chapter is the end of PART I of Tales of Hikusa. I forgot to mention that this novella if you will is divided into three or four parts. Part I is introductory and the shortest. Also, I don’t know if “Ama” means anything in Japanese, but if it means something other than love I didn’t mean to convey that. I mean the Latin root for love. Symbolism, isn’t it great? [Where did Sasuke go? How did he escape?]
Sasuke entered the candlelit hallways of Orochimaru’s hideout. The pale man waited there. “Well, where have you been for the past week?”
“Konoha pests annoyed me.”
“Konoha?” Sasuke retired to his room.

“What could have happened? Inoichi, wake Ibiki and then you are dismissed!”
“Yes, my lady!” He slapped Ibiki and left.
“OW!”
“Ibiki, I demand to know as Hokage how Sasuke escaped!”
“Well, after interrogating I told the two ANBU Black Ops members to find Inoichi. Sasuke apparently had been storing chakra through it all and was waiting for a chance to strike. He said something like, ‘Chidori nagashi!’ and electricity freed him and hurt me. He then sliced and stabbed me while the ANBU and I were stunned. I was then too weak to fight or speak. His used something called ‘Chidori Senbon’ and electric senbon shot out and knocked an ANBU out. The other tried attacked, but Sasuke blocked with his sword. Sasuke then swung and the ANBU blocked, but the Sasuke’s sword went right threw the ANBU’s sword and sliced it! I then don’t remember anything else.”
“Passed right through it? What, how?” Shizune interjected.
“Team Yamato reported the same when they found Sasuke. Yamato said that Sasuke claimed it was a sword of Kusunagi like Orochimaru’s. Maybe.”
“So, then Sasuke must have used a transform jutsu on himself and Ibiki making Ibiki Sasuke and Sasuke the Ibiki we saw walking away!”
“Probably Shizune. Ibiki, you may leave!”, he once did so, “Shizune fetch Hikusa”
“Right!”

“So, they let Sasuke escape? How pitiful! Sai! You have no authorization to explain these events to Team Kakashi.”
“Yes, Lord Danzo”
“Apparently, Hikusa will be working with a jonin-level Hyuga partner. Pity, I would have rather had you be his partner so that I could have watched over him, but you must watch Naruto for me who is far more important. I’ll still send Fu or Torune to watch Hikusa. He has become dangerous.”

“You wished to see me, Lady Tsunade?”
“Yes, Hi. I want to show you your new assigned partner, Hyuga Ama. She is of the Hyuga clan and your age of course.”
“Hyuga clan? What’s that?”
Tsunade looked surprised. “The Hyuga possess the Byakugan. A doujutsu, eye jutsu, that grants them special abilities related to chakra sensing. The Byakugan eyes appear totally white when inactive, but when activated the veins near the eyes pop out and a faint grey circle appears in the eye. It is said that the Sharingan came from the Byakugan.”
“Cool. What other abilities does she possess?”
“I’ll be brief. She’ll tell you more when you meet her. She is a jonin-level medical and sensory ninja, and has mastered water ninjutsu. She is quite useful in battle. You will live with her and her family in her home to get to know her more. Now, go and meet her in the Hyuga neighborhood. ”

Hi walked through the stone garden and knocked on the door of a large home. The location seemed tranquil enough and a lovely place to live instead of the little apartment Kakashi provided. A middle-aged woman with those white eyes answered. “Hello and who might you be?”
“I am Uchiha Hikusa. I am supposed to be living here with my new partner, Hyuga Ama.”
“Oh! Welcome to our home! We have been expected you. I am Hyuga Shiho and my husband is Hyuga Shimo. Ama! Come down!”
An angel descended, with rich, black hair flowing in the air. Her skin as white as snow and aura charming, she glanced at Hi with her pearl white eyes. Hi stared in awe for she truly was an attractive girl. “Hello, I am Ama. It is very nice to meet you”, she finally said with a warm and congenial smile.
“It’s a pleasure for me as well” Hikusa replied.

Hikusa passed his days in the Hyuga house perusing the many books he found in the library, it was an enormous mansion. He also had conversations with Ama and her parents. Her presence always filled the room with kindness and sympathy. He always gazed at her beauty and skill in housework as well as ninjutsu. They had become good friends because they shared many interest like reading, learning new jutsu, and walks through the many gardens. The mother was just as polite and compassionate, always willing to aid Hi. The father was a little more distant, but amiable. He spent most of his time in his room review Hyuga affairs. He didn’t speak much and when he did speak it was about politics, he showed little emotion except when he spoke of Ama. The meals prepared by the chefs were world class and Hikusa delighted in the manor’s old furnishings of mahogany and paintings of when the village and Hyuga clan were founded. Indeed, they had been the clan’s elder’s family before Hyuga Hiashi’s father took over. He also trained in their private training grounds when he wasn’t exploring their gardens. One late afternoon, while walking in the tranquility garden over a bridge with the lily ponds Hi asked Ama, “I have been here for two months now and I appreciate your hospitality, but there is one question I have. What are your abilities as a Hyuga and as a ninja? I know I am ignorant.”
She sweetly answered, “You are not ignorant. You just have been isolated from Konoha and are from a different time period to boot, but here are my abilities. With the Byakugan, I can see my opponent’s chakra points basically where chakra is released. I can then use what’s called the Gentle Fist to, with my fingertips infused with chakra, seal them. I can also release chakra from any of my chakra points to form shields, and attack. There are other abilities of the Hyuga I wish to be a surprise for you and other abilities of the Byakugan I have developed. As a ninja, I have mastered the water element and medical ninjutsu. Well, you’ve already told me about yourself, so I needn’t you to explain to me your abilities. We should go to dinner, follow me please.” They went to the front door and entered the home.
The father stood at the door. “Hi, before we eat, I wish to speak with you. Ama, prepare the table.”
“Of course.” She then was off! The sun had started to go down and it was growing dark.
“Yes sir?”
“Have you enjoyed your stay here?”
“Of course.”
“I am glad, but some of the other prejudiced Hyuga feel your presence here, being an Uchiha, has ‘tainted’ our clan. This of course is absurd, but I am sorry to say you must leave tomorrow morning. You have a mission anyways form Tsunade, you first mission with Ama. Come, let us feast.” The words both burned and excited him.
‘How could they be so illogical and mena? Oh well! A new mission awaits!’
