But if you attacked the meteors that were coming high from above, I don't think you can re-direct the combo towards us at ground level.

I'm not redirecting them at you, I'm redirecting them just out of the way.
I created a large spiraling column of wind (and water). The currents generated by it sent the earth meteors off course.

I'm talking to him, and what he did was throw the rocks away with his water + wind tornado and the attacked us with the same tornado.

The wind current or the water current? Because the wind would just amplify the flames on the meteors.

How did the tornado that you sent to the sky against the meteors ended up attacking us at ground level.
When they hit the meteors you can't just make the tornado turn around, can you?

The tornado works by sending chakra up into the sky. Then, a tornado comes down, forming from the top down.
