See, I hear that argument but my point of view is that I shouldn't have to sit through 2 seasons that most people acknowledge as sub-par just for a show to get good again. To me that's just an excuse.
I mean its not like I just say it without any reasoning to back my opinion. I get that there are fans, and thats fine - and believe me I LOVE supernatural, I just wish it ended on Season 5. There are two two types of television shows: Shows that focus on characters (How I Met Your Mother, The Office, House, really most other shows) and shows that focus on the narrative (Breaking Bad, Supernatural, Daredevil, etc). The shows that focus on characters are the ones that usually end up lasting for 10+ seasons, because the bulk of the content are just whacky scenarios for the characters to play in. The shows that focus on the Narrative however, those are the shows that usually always propel the story forward, thus (a good show of this sub-genre) knows when to end.
Breaking Bad ended on a high note. Not everyone likes Breaking Bad, but the people who do (myself included) are clambering for more. However, the show cut itself off because the narrative was the priority. Shows that artificially lengthen themselves or continue past the clear conclusion may sit well at first with audiences, but after awhile the show clearly has lost its heart. This is how I fell about Supernatural, and this is how the Creator of the Show feels too. Supernatural was meant to only be five seasons, but the Network decided to force a continuation because of ratings, despite the VERY clear resolution of the plot. Honestly, if the Finale of Season 5 didn't have the cliff hanger of Sam standing outside of Dean's house then I wouldn't have an issue with the Show continuing. I could have my five seasons - one perfect, flawless story, and be content. But now everytime I conclude the original story, I am insulted by a single cliffhanger and reminded that the story has continued.
Am I the only one confused with episode? Chuck and amara are supposedly equals yet it took so many to weaken her just for chuck to get wrecked? What???? I understand the need for drama but seriously...
On a side note I do want supernatural to end, very soon actually. Story seems to be sporadic and becoming one of those shows that are forced to continue. I can't see how they raise the stakes anymore....unless God/amara become Dean/Sam.... lol
