Summoning techniques are ways to transport animals, things or in some cases people as well. But its commonly use to summon animals to aid oneself. For someone to summon an animal they must be sign a contract with the said specie and the users blood is the one used to sign. Summons can differ in species, size and level, all depending on the one summoning them.

Thats about all I know about it.

So in essence you are correct. The summoning technique is a type of a space-time ninjutsu which would allow for an individual to transport their personal summoning onto the field through a summoning ritual. The ritual itself is composed of user chopping a small portion of their body which would cause for blood to start dripping and then performing a specific set of hand seal. To end the ritual one would go over their summoning tattoo with the blood before slamming their hands onto the location on which they want their summoning to appear. The slam on the surface would cause for a specific seal to appear in which center the summoning would be standing. In addition to the seals there also would be smoke.

For an individual to be able to summon a contract of sorts they would firstly need to sign it. Each contract comes in form of a scroll in which every past and present signer names is located. Keeping in mind that one must use blood as to sign their name within the scroll as well as place their fingerprints onto it as to leave a mark. After that has been done, upon doing the ritual they would be able to summon their respective summoning. The size of their summoning would vary depending on the amount of chakra they utilize whilst performing the summoning ritual.

Now, within the contract, if one only uses the summoning technique without actually posting the specific animal they summoned, they would summon a generic summoning animal of their particular contract. That animal would come with all the ''basic'' characteristics which are written within the original description of the contract.

Additionally the summoning technique can be used to summon custom weapons within the midst of the battle. Well, there is no other way to summon your custom weapon.

(Kuchiyose no Jutsu) - Summoning Technique
Rank: B
Type: Defense/Attack/Suplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description:
To summon the creature the ninja will wipe blood on his hand, perform the Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram handseals and then touch the ground or another object, where a sealing formula will appear. Though it appears that as long as significant pressure is placed against the blood in some form, the summon will be complete, most summoning uses use a solid surface, though in some cases it can even be done mid air. There can be variations to the summoning steps, some ninja like Temari will wipe blood on her fan, then by swinging the fan the animal is summoned. Other ninja like Orochimaru wipe the blood across a snake tattoo on their arm first, then touch the ground. Others will clap their hands directly like Nagato through the use of his Animal Path. The user must have signed the contract with the creature he wants to summon but the technique can be used to summon a generic creature of that contract (B-Rank) which will have no special traits or abilities beyond those normal to the rest of the animals in the contract. The animal is always summoned on the mark that appears upon slamming the users hand or, if not the case, always in short range of the user.

In addition to the Summoning Technique there is also a Reverse Summoning technique which would allow for ones summoning to summon them rather then the other way around.

(Gyaku Kuchiyose no Jutsu) – Reverse Summoning Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique is the counterpart of the summoning technique, in which it allows an animal to summon the human that they have a contract with back to their side, regardless of where they are. The animal must be at least B-Rank in strength to have enough chakra to use the technique though all animals that can use Ninjutsu in any form can use this technique on their summoners.

If you don't have any questions, let's go over the customs when it comes to the summoning!?

Right, what I wish to cover when it comes to customs is the amount you can make when it comes to the canon and custom contracts and what are usual limitations of summonings. First and far most, If you are signer of a canon contract you are allowed to submit up to 5 summonings of the said contract. An interesting fact to take into consideration is that although some animals within the canon contracts are allowed to stay on the battlefield once summoned indefinitely that can not be done when you create custom summonings for your contract. Additionally, when it comes to the amounts of turns one summoning can stay on the battlefield will usually depend on its rank. The lower the rank, the more it can stay in the battle. However this is not a defined rule, and will solely depend on your summonings abilities. When you create ninjutsu/additional techniques for your contract they will count towards your 35 custom jutsu limit which one can create. When creating a custom summoning animal, the said animal will be allowed to have abilities which you are in possession of. So, if you have let's say fire up to A rank, you will only be allowed to create a summoning which can utilize fire up to A rank.

Alright. 1 question, I know now that I can submit 5 custom summons for a cannon contract but how about custom summons that were taught to me? Is that included on that cap im allowed to have, or is that on top of the 5 custom summons?

Each custom contract can have up to 10 summoning animals submitted either by the one who is the owner of it or signer, of course in case where they are given the permission to do that. For each respective summoning contract you are allowed to either submit 5 animals in case whereas it is a canon one and 10 if it is a custom one.
