Ummm....

*sits at his usual training spot, drinking a Taro Boba Cooler and waiting for Adachi-sensei. It was a sunny, quiet day; perfect for shinobi training!*

*thinking: I wonder if Green Tea coolers are any good...*

Green Tea Cooler is pretty good. But I've had enough shots working there, I would never even buy anything from Cha even when stopping by it. Ever. Again.

Alright, like two months late, but let's get this started.
But first, why exactly do you want to learn suiton? What fascinates you about this element?

I don't even go there that much. Last time I had Boba was about a month ago for a club fundraiser for the beginning of year.

Ermehgerd, a reply! thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule ^__^

(yes, I made his bio U_U), upon hearing the faint noises that seemingly resembled words, mumbles and shakes his hand in the direction of his sensei, half-asleep.

"I dunwanna wake up, mom......."

Mumbling a few words, he then opens his eyes wide and glances over at the figure standing in front of him. Yu had rested his back upon a tree, and dozed off for God knows how long. Probably about two months, by any estimation.

Realizing who it was, Yu jerks up, dusting himself off and trying to at least look presentable. He rubs the back of his head sheepishly as he greets his sensei, laughing nervously.

"Hahahaha... Sorry sensei... I sorta dozed off... How long has it been since we agreed to do this? Oh, I had a drink to give you..."

Looking over to his side, Yu sees the boba cup, with its contents long since melted and evaporated, leaving behind a thick crust of sugar residue, and if his eyes hadn't failed him yet, there was mold, too.

Yup, two months.

Looking back to his sensei, "Oh, sorry... It's been super long, huh? How long was I out for? And-"

Upon meeting each other's gazes, Yu freezes up and stops mid sentence. This man... Who was he? He looked awfully familiar, as if he were an old friend... Or some kind of adversary. It was an inkling feeling, almost an out-of-body experience; as if alternate reality versions of themselves knew each other as well, albeit on a deeper level.

But he shook off the feeling. Two months and he was obviously delirious. Or high. He couldn't tell anymore.

"... Sorry sensei, I jus had a weird déjà vu moment right there."

There was still some of that feeling remaining, but Yu decided to keep mum about it for now.

"Anyway, I'd like to learn water because it's such an amazing element in our universe. It's the universal solvent; key to almost all organic life; an important part of our environmental systems. The fact that we, as humans, are able to tame and manipulate such a world changing force, so free flowing and powerful, with our own mortal beings and our chakra begets some kind of exceptional power that's hidden in all of us. Surely a phenomena such as that would arouse the curiosity of any shinobi."

"Plus," making gun shapes out of his hands, "I get to shoot water out of my arms. Pew pew pew!"

(Sorry for the wallie. I often start trainings with an RP post to gauge my teacher's training style; whether they decide to humor me or get straight to business)

You think that's a wallie? You should see some of my other trainings...dear God, someone gave me a whole short story in their reply! And third person it is, I like that!

The white-haired boy named Yu seemed rather out of it. Adachi had to double check the letter he had received earlier to ensure he had arrived at the correct place. Nonetheless, after sorting out his shit, it appeared the message was requesting him to teach this curious individual the basics of the water element.

He shrugged. It could have been worse, frankly, if the student was some lowly elementary kid, but that didn't seem to be the case. Shoving the letter back into his pocket, he fixated the white-haired youngster with a careless glance. It didn't hurt to start with the basic question either, most of his previous students had replied in the most boring, meaningless manner.

"So?" Adachi questioned, seating himself across from Yu. "Why exactly do you want learn Suiton? What fascinates you about this element?"

A slight pause, a rubbing of eyes. Then a brief response, something about the universe and shinobis, ending with an enthusiastic mockery of guns.

"Huh." Adachi nodded, barely having heard the words, then with a careless wave of his hand, directed Yu towards the flowing water on their left side. "Well then. I'd like you to meditate for some time besides that water. How you do it is up to you, but the experience is important. Imagine if you were to take control of the flow of that water, making it a part of you, of your chakra..."

Well, this is a RP... so... we Play Roles. Anyway... some people are more dedicated than others, I suppose.

At least it's much better than the generic copy paste "I gather my chakra and perform the technique" post.

Seemingly shrugged off by Adachi, Yu looked at the flowing water source to their side. When did that appear? ANyway... his initial impression threw him off. It looked like he'd have to try and prove himself to his sensei in order for the latter to be more motivated. This was something he became somewhat competent at, after months of tutelage from other shinobi. Adachi was going to be a tough nut to crack.

Not wasting a moment, Yu removes his jacket, and sits cross-legged beside the flowing water. Then, silence.

Meditating by the water with his eyes closed, he first takes note of the sound of the flowing water, as it crashed gently upon the edges of the lake. Apparently, there was a small waterfall that came from the top of the small hill beside the lake, so that made sense.

The plopping of large globs of water... the silent hiss of sprinkling splashes... the resonance of waves. It all moved in one harmonious cycle, almost akin to a natural orchestra. If dripping, sloshing, and flowing sounds could be considered classical music.

Next, the smell of the water. This wasn't like the sea water Yu was accustomed to, but rather, fresh water. There was no scent. It was pure. Whole. Devoid of any imperfections that would have otherwise caused an olfactory nuisance.

Taking his hand closest to the lake, he then plunges it in, allowing the cool water to send chills through his nervous system. He allowed it to rest there... until he could no longer feel the water... as if they were beginning to synchronize.

Yu's own chakra system, in conjunction with the sensory experience of the flowing water, began to change, taking on the properties of the way it flowed. The freedom it expressed. His chakra, for lack of a better phrase... just "went with the flow". Adachi noticed his student's relaxation and apparent tranquility. Yu, on the other hand, was slipping into an almost trance-like state, as his chakra and the water were "becoming one"...

This shit was cool. Who needed drugs when something like this was possible?

Surprisingly enough, the student seemed extremely concentrated - there was an almost peaceful, yet serene look upon his face, and Adachi frowned. The situation...somehow fit, yet irritated him in a way he couldn't explain.

A small sigh escaped from the man as he shoved his hands back in his pockets, leaning back against the tree. Closing his eyes, he found himself tuning into the sound of the crashing waters as well. At first, it seemed intriguing, almost as soothing as his student must have found, then it quickly became repetitive and even an annoyance to his ears.

Deciding that the silence was long enough, he released a small cough, drawing attention back to real world. "It seems you've...somewhat got the hang of it." After assuring he had Yu's attention, he sauntered up towards the white-haired boy, dipping a single finger into the water, moving it in a circular motion in an almost childish manner.

"Now, Suiton..." he paused, as if forgetting where his current topic was headed. "Suiton has three different forms, as you may know...(I mean, you'd be dumb to not know that), and each of them have a certain usage." The pool of water within his hand changed from liquid to freezing ice, then vanished into the air as gas, leaving mere droplets within his palm.

Without even turning to his student, Adachi remained kneeled at the edge of the large, crashing waterfall, eyes focused on the flowing water. "Given these three forms," he continued quietly. "What use do you think each could have in battle?"

Having been brought back to reality by Adachi, Yu looked around for a few moments, with a slightly blank expression. Upon seeing his teacher apparently musing by the lake and playing with the elemental properties, his eyes focused again, regaining their color as he absorbed and processed his sensei's words.

The crashing waterfall and the lake were pretty to look at.

But crap... why such advanced questions? Yu grimaced and nodded, as if he knew what he was going to say. Well, he did... sorta.

Alright, time to wing it... it's just like writing a paper... say a bunch of fancy words and ramble and he'll think I'm at least competent. he thought to himself.

Standing up, he looked at his teacher and the water in front of him.

"Adachi-sensei, water comes in three forms, the solid, liquid, and gas. It's one of the few natural elements that can exist in all three states. Of course, chakra manipulation can somewhat buck these trends, but that's talking high level stuff."

Yu began pacing slightly, looking inquisitive as he furrowed his brow and tried to come up with the answers. Being less experienced than most, he hoped his answers would at least be acceptable. He started stroking his chin.

"The solid form is known as ice. It's pretty layered and structured, symbolic of order and certainty. In our world, shinobi combine both a liquid and gaseous element to form solid ice. It's amazing how it works. But in battle, the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai can be used as armor, as a way to throw off an enemy's balance by causing them to slip and lose their balance, or general offensive measures such as Ice spikes and whatnot. It has similar qualities to earth. More inquisitive users can use the reflective properties of ice to their advantage, and can play a role in reflecting light, or even in some visual genjutsus... Haku's Ice Mirrors, while not a genjutsu, helped to enhance his/her speed while attacking."

Yu looked at the lake, his reflection rippling in the clear water.

"The liquid form, known as water, is the most commonly used form in battle. It is flexible, free flowing, and versatile. Primarily used to counter fire techniques, or can even be used as a flexible defense. The water can have incredibly sharp cutting properties if manipulated as such, or can overwhelm an opponent caused by torrential force, drowning or stopping their movements. Of course, there are many other uses which I can't put my finger on... but that's what we're here for, yes?"

Finally, he looked at the foamy water that was evaporating from the base of the waterfall.

"The gaseous form, water vapor, is a high energy variant of water. Water vapor can form thin layers of fog... hiding the user from their opponent, or can otherwise be condensed under lower temperatures, forming liquid water. I'm not exactly sure what else it entails in terms of battle..."

Yu rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. Perhaps he sounded too pedantic...
