[Suggestion] FF Advertisements

I know their is currently Social Group for something like this, but it's quite inactive so my suggestion would be a sticky thread or an announcement for people to advertise their FF.

They could pay using Kumi to have their FF advertised on the thread or announcement.

Why? Because some people write brilliant FFs but do not get the publicity or awareness and then it just shoot downwards like a negative exponential graph

You must be registered for see images

Example:

Member A pays x amount of Kumi to have his FF placed in the thread/announcement for x amount of days/weeks/months.

x = WBD (Would be Decided) by Mod or Gmod or whoever would be in charge.

I agree that many great FF writers don't get the viewership they deserve but it's gross to use Kumi for that.

Plus there's no guarantee that this announcement thread will gain enough viewership in those days days allocated as you says to the FF writer. In short, the announcement thread will help but it will be far from the expected result due to that limited time given.

- There's no time limit. You post your FF description and it will remain here. Perhaps, the thread-maker could link all posts in his first post to help.
- It's no silly advertisement like "Read my FF" "Give me CnC" ect...It's just subtle basic description of your FF and those interested in those type of FF might check in.

That's was my concept for the Kumi. To create another use for it (besides GFX). It was a measure of preventing everybody just putting their FFs even though they know it isn't great. But i like your idea too.

1. Many FF writers may have just joined and thus will have low Kumi.
2. Most GFXer are even making avys/siggies for free now. It's been some time since I paid one. Mostly all of them (whom I usually ask to) refuses to take payment.
3. Let that thing remove useless as it is. For me, it is clear - either you make Kumi become extremely useful like numerous betting games or make it useless so that the Admins will have to remove it someday or the other. Frankly, since betting signifies gambling which is illegal under 18 and most members are minors, there's no way the 1st option will occur. Thus, I badly want the Kumi system to be removed.

I like this. This would be a good way for FF writers to know if they should keep going; by getting it out there in the opertune conditions for people to see, and hopefully like it.

I like the idea of being able to put like a preview "fanfiction.net" style. But I have a feeling that thread is going to get inundated either way. It would kinda be like the FF thread we have now except with summaries/genres and stuff. Which could help readership. You don't have to draw readers in by title alone. So I guess it couldn't hurt.

I like your idea way better. Simply because we should have our own FF area, just like chatterbox, and Manga Discussion, etc. And it would make sifting through the crappy and good FF's a ton easier. If they write their description like this " dis be how awesum lord Sasuke is fer sure" Then, I will not even give it a second glance. But if it is a nice, well though out, organized and well versed description, as long as I like the idea, I'm in

Agree with you 100%. I got my first avi for free. If the gfxer is your friend, they don't mind if you pay or not.
I'm a fanfic writer but me doing fanfics depends on my mood and I don't have many kumi and if my mood is good in doing fanfic, I'll make many fanfics as possible and if I want my work to get advertised, I have to give up kumi for that and what if I don't have enough kumi..I wouldn't able to adverstise my work so its better not to invlove kumi.

Well isnt that what the contest is for if you think about it.

The contest is good advertising but in the contest:

- The no. of participants is limited which doesn't give all members their chances. A thread which will be like an "FF Guide" will be quite interesting to me.
- Also, there isn't summaries or more subtle descriptions of the FFs in the contest and some people just tend to vote for their friend without checking it first. So, in a way, the advertising plan is the contest doesn't work well.

I think what he meant is that your idea is good as long as everyone has equal opportunity w/o giving up anything. For me its hard to be a fanfic writer if that's the case. Its seems like, you're the one who made a lot of effort and yet you're the one who's payingxd

everyone's talking about the whole "paying kumi to advertise" thing, and how it's not a good idea. well, if the kumi system were altered so that for every thanked post, the poster would recieve "X" ammount of kumi. this way, your advertising pays off, like in the real world. what do people think?
