Alright, people, what do we all prefer?
Please give legitimate reasoning. The excuse "I prefer subs because the Japanese is the original and the English version sucks because it's not the original" will not suffice.
For me, I personally prefer dubbed because I can understand what they're saying and so can focus on what's happening on the screen rather than having to read the subtitiles at the bottom and potentially miss visual cues.
But aside from that, I also prefer dubs because they have more of a logical voice actor selection. I know that the voice actors in Japan represent ideas about the character as well as just providing the voice, but (for example) Goku's Japanese voice seriously bugs me, even when he's SSJ3 he still sounds like a ten-year-old girl. I know it's meant to represent his innocence and child-like nature, but his English VA (Sean Schemmel) just sounds more like what you'd expect him to sound like. It's more natural.
However, I'm not against subs in any way and do find them preferable to dubs on some occasions. What I am against is people choosing subs for the sole reason that they want to be seen as clever, intelligent people for watching the "original".
So, let's begin: Allow me to board your trains of thought. Subs or dubs?

I prefer subs because the voice actors do their jobs as if someone has a gun to their heads, they put so much effort into it and it just fits the characters better.

At the start I prefer'd Dubs, greatly because I was so used to watching Dbz, that watching Subs wasn't my thing at the time
But then when I reached the end of the Dubs in Naruto, I had no choice to watch Subs, as annoyed as I was.
When I first saw the episode of Naruto fighting Kakuzu, I was amazed at how awesome it was. And started to prefer Subs. I just loved the Japanese Voice acting, then I watched Bleach in Subs and I just generally loved subs after that.
Also don't say Dub is better because Dbz's Japanese Voice Actors suck, thats a joke comparison imo :lmao:

the only anime i liked dubbed was dbz, and that's because of the portuguese voice of goku was just amazing. the other ones i watch is always subbed, naruto in portuguese and english is just terrible and so is one piece.

The subs simply because the English dubs never guarantee a true preservation of the material they are translating something always gets left out and dialogue is not always 100 perecent faithful so i rather forgo the hassle entirely and just watch subbed version and watch the dub merely as an afterthought or kinda like a bonus at the end of the day lol When i grew up watching dragonball z i had to go seek out novelty shops to buy the subbed vhs tapes it was horrible trying to digest the ocean dub ):

i prefer subs its just the emotion they put in like if you listen to naruto say rasengan in dub it wont sound as good as the Japanese version and normally they only talk when there isnt much to look at so it doesn't bother me its the same with Asian martial arts films i pick sub over dub also in Japanese they branch out to other voice actors but in English dub they recycle the old ones even do it is fun pointing out where you remember them it can also ruin it as you manly hear there voice as a certain character and not as each individual character
i dont hate dubs apart from one piece dubs god i hate that so much

Sub: I'm of the opinion that such things should be watched in the original language with subtitles to understand what they are saying. In case of anime, it's even useful for me to check my progress of Japanese
That and I greatly dislike dubs, because for some reason the voices sound odd

Don't get me wrong, the Japanese DBZ was still really good, it's just Goku's voice actor that gets on my nerves a little. Trunks' Jap VA is amazing.

Subs. Why? Because I get to know another language and the fact that I always found the voice of the actors better in the original ones than the ones in the subs.

Plus, with subs you can also do connections and stuff and later on learning that language. :)
That's how I learned English in the first time, before studying it at school and that's how I got to know some words/phrases in Japaneese and not only. :)

Subs all day, they put so much emotion into it. When its dubbed its like the voice doesn't even fit the character.
