Now that I think about it, depending on circumstances, Shikamaru could beat Kiba despite his strength in numbers. He managed to outsmart Tayuya and take control of her demons despite that fight being 4 vs. 1

I disagree there,

tayuya uses telegraphed guerrilla tactics that can become slugish depending on her flute relays being compromised.

Kiba is a blitzkreiger who moves thru mid-air for the most part. his jutsu will repel & cut thru shadows
his smoke bombs also compromise the shadows.

shika won't have much time to do anything at all really
