Minato has to be strong enough to take the whole soul out of his opponent for him to seal them.

He may fall short and only seal their arms like Sarutobi did Orochimaru.

Now that Madara possesses the Rinnegan, he will be able to beat Hashirama. Madara didn't unlock the Rinnegan until he was old and his death was approaching quickly.
