my opinion is Shinsui and Kenpachi. Shinsui defeated Espade NUMBER 1 with only Shikai (and a some help). His bankai must be extremely deadly if Ukitake stopped him.

Shunsui and Unohana defiantly, Ukitake is just too sick.
Two of the most experienced and oldest captains (excluding Yamamato)
For ex-captains no doubt that it's Aizen, Gin, Yoruichi, and Kisuke.
Aizen - Well he was the evil dude so of course he has to be strong
Gin - His real bankai at the end was deadly, probably only a few could reject the poison
Yoruichi - Goddess of flash, ex- 2nd captain, rules at hand-to-hand combat skills, Royal Shihouin family? She's awesomely epic
Kisuke - Nerd scientist, 100x better then Mayuri imo... simply bad ass
