Now remember when they first introduced Akatsuki in the first naruto we didn't know what the **** they were. And when they introduced in the second one we were still in dark about it. As the story develops as any manga would we start knowing a little bit about them, even going as far to say Minato was the leader. There were all these fan pics about how he would look like and you couldn't prove these fanboys wrong. And then we saw Pein, but Pein still wasn't the the true leader, and then the man behind the mask (Tobi) was the leader and an Uchiha.
Many fanatics came crashing in to say with no proof that's Obito. Now to be timely accurate I can provide many reasons why he's not and stop saying that. First Obito was a genin, he was 12 or 13 that's during the third shinobi war, he died and months later Naruto would be born and Tobi would attack. There is no way for Obito to have grown so much, and know so much about the nine tails even knowing how to bypass the barrier. One of the stupid argument they do make is that because one eye is showing with the sharingan and that's exactly the side he lost his sides. Obito was too young, too and knowledgeless to know anything. He couldn't have known anything about the rinnegan, Madara and Hashirama. I don't want to spoil your little daydreams, but it's just that Tobi is Tobi or someone else during Hashirama and Madara's time.
