So this friend of mine in Japan went see the movie twice in a row a few days back, and did me the courtesy of writing down the plot and conversations of the film in great detail, at least as well as she could remember it. She doesn't speak/write English, so I've translated what she sent me and thought I might share~
Start of the movie, in the snowy Kaguya dimension with the castle (one of the dimensions shown in the Kaguya fight in the manga), Sasuke fights Kinshiki. Momoshiki is watching the two fight with great interest. The fight is completely in (awesome) taijutsu. At the end of the skirmish Kinshiki's weapon is about to hit sasuke when sasuke used Ameno to swap himself with a stone statue in front of the castle gate. The two talk, and Kinshiki says he wasn't expecting Sasuke to be this powerful, that he's impressed.
The scene switches to Konoha, to a shot of the back of Naruto. Sakura, Temari and Ino are having a get-together, and a shadow clone of Naruto runs past behind them.
Pedestrian: "Ever since the Seventh took office, all his shadow clones running around have become part of the konoha vista."
One of Naruto's clones is interviewed on TV, while the real Naruto is watching the interview from the Hokage office.
TV host: "After the great war, the world has entered an age of peace. It's only because of the hard work of the Seventh that Konoha is enjoying its prosperity today. Now the five nations are working together to hold the upcoming Chunin Exam. So what does the Seventh think is the heart of the Exam?"
Naruto: "Well it's all about three points: teamwork and will."
TV host: "That's only two."
Naruto: "..."
TV host: "..."
Naruto: "Ah that's about it... Let's all do our best!"
The clone went "poof", and real Naruto turned off the TV.
Scene switches to Boruto, Mitsuki and Sarada, who are on a mission chasing a panda/bear thing. Sarada is arguing with Boruto whether it's a bear or a panda. Mitsuki extends his arm and wraps it around the panda bear. Sarada went "shannaro", rushing at the panda, but Boruto and two of his clones suddenly came out from all directions and took down the animal.
Boruto: "See? Didn't I say it'd be a breeze."
Sarada was displeased: "What about the team work we talked about?"
As the two fight, the panda bear got back up again. At this time, Konohamaru came out and trapped the bear with Shadow Imitation jutsu.
Mitsuki: "Hey, isn't that Nara clan's secret jutsu?"
Konohamaru explains it's the new devise developed by the science division, that it shoots out the ninjutsu sealed within, requires no chakra and can even be used by normal people. While explaining, Konohamaru used a scroll to seal a Rasengan, then the scroll shrinked to the finger's size, and Konohamaru loaded the mini-scroll into the bracelet-shaped devise. The Rasengan is shot onto a hill some distance away and caused an explosion, causing Konohamaru to panic in embarrassment.
Konohamaru: "The bracelet shot the Rasengan, so it's technically not from me!"
As he speaks, a small house on the hill collapses in the background.
The scene switches to Hokage office. Konohamaru and his team are reporting their mission status.
Naruto: "Don't call me Dad. Here in this office I'm Seventh Hokage. Besides not just me, but all the former hokages are looking at us."
The camera pans all the hokage pictures up on the wall. Boruto is not happy about it. Naruto and Boruto stare at each other. Naruto then began to talk about Chunin exam with Konohamaru, when Katasuke, the leader of the science divison, entered. Katasuke asked Konohamaru if the bracelet worked well, and went on to boast about his invention, claiming it's the future direction of ninja arts, how now with the technology, ninjas don't have to waste time training in order to gain great power. Katasuke even suggested turning the Chunin exam into a show using the bracelet's tech.
Naruto: "The Chunin exam is an important occasion that teaches the new generation to bear the responsibility of the future. It's not a show. Your bracelet is not the real power of a shinobi, and I forbid its use in the Exam."
Katasuke tries to argue, but Naruto tells him to leave. Before he walks out the door, Katasuke shares a glance with Boruto. Boruto starts yelling at Naruto again.
Boruto: "Have you forgotten what day it is today?! If you forget a day as important as your daughter's birthday, I will never forgive you!"
Boruto then runs out of the room following Katasuke. Konohamaru, Sarada and Mitsuki continue their conversation with Naruto about the Chunin Exam.
Scene switches to an alley. Katasuke asks Boruto if he is interested in taking part in the Chunin Exam.
Boruto: "I'm not interested in that. So where's the stuff you agreed to get me?"
Katasuke pulls out a computer chip (probably an SD card) and gives it to Boruto.
Scene changes to a burger shop, where Boruto, Shikadai and Inojin are playing games on handheld consoles. Sarada finds Boruto and asks Boruto to enter Chunin Exam with her and Mitsuki. Sarada hands him the application form, but Boruto refuses.
Sarada: "I have to become Chunin first before I can become Hokage, so don't you be the one to hold me back!"
Boruto yells loudly: "I don't care about Hokage, nor do I want to become one!"
All the people in the burger shop turn to look at Boruto.
Boruto: "You'd better go home. It's not a good place to fight, people are staring."
Inojin: "But without all three people on a team, you can't hope to pass the Exam, you know."
Boruto: "Never mind that, let me transfer the gears to you."
Boruto transfers the fully leveled-up gears for the video game they are playing to Shikadai and Inojin. Boruto got the gears from the chip Katasuke gave him.
Shikadai: "I actually kinda like the feeling of accomplishment of leveling up bit by bit."
Inojin and Shikadai then say they have to train and leave the shop.
Scene switches to Konoha central street. Sarada and Boruto are sitting on a bench. Mitsuki is standing facing them. The three are chatting, and somehow start talking about Sasuke.
Mitskuki: "Say, the only person in this whole ninja world who can fight the Seventh on equal footing is Sarada's dad..."
Sarada: "Speaking of parents, we still don't know yours."
Boruto become interested as well.
Mitsuki: "Huh? Haven't I told you guys? My parent... "
Right at this time, Himawari enters the scene.
Himawari: "Big bro!"
Boruto turns his head and sees Himawari and Hinata walking towards them.
Boruto: "Today's my sister's birthday, so I gotta go home right away."
Boruto's face breaks into a big kiddy smile, then he runs towards his mom and sis, talking loudly about what to eat for dinner.
Mitsuki looks at the three walking away: "So Boruto has a side like this too."
Sarada: "Boruto wasn't always the way he is now. In fact, he..."
Scene switches to the Uzumaki household at night. Everyone is happy. Naruto is lighting the candles on the cake while his wife and kids look at him do it. But when Naruto is carrying the cake to the dinner table, he goes "poof" (turns out its a shadow clone). The cake smashes onto the floor. Boruto's face suddenly switches from joy to anger.
Boruto: "Is this how a Hokage should be like?! Working and working all day, won't even bother to come home!"
Hinata tries to calm Boruto, but Boruto shakes her off. Hinata looks very sad.
Boruto: "Grandpa was hokage too right? Are hokages all like that?! It's because Grandpa died so young that dad doesn't get the pain I'm going through! A dad like that is better off not in my life from the start!" (the wording means like Minato dead and absent from Naruto's life from the start, it is an ugly thing to say...)
Boruto runs upstairs, and sees the door to Naruto and Hinata's room ajar. Curious, Boruto goes in to take a look. The window is open in the room. Boruto sees on the desk photos of him as a small child happily playing with Naruto, their family photos, as well as the old part 1 team 7 picture. Near the wardrobe he sees Naruto's part 1 orange outfit.
Boruto: "This thing is ripped apart and full of holes and he still kept it. What an ugly piece of crap."
Boruto throws the outfit out of the window. At this time the door bell rings. Boruto thinks it is Naruto coming home. He excitely hurries downstairs, opens the door and throws a combo attack towards the figure standing in the doorway.
Boruto: "Yo, shitty dad! You've come home at last!"
Sasuke effortlessly blocks the attack with one hand. Boruto lands on the floor and sees it isnt Naruto and becomes embarrassed.
Boruto: "I'm sorry! I thought my dad had come home!"
Sasuke: "So you are Naruto's son. What's your name?"
Boruto: "Boruto!"
Sasuke: "Boruto, huh?.."
Hinata hurries to the door, and sees it's Sasuke: "Oh hello Sasuke-kun!"
Sasuke: "Naruto's not at home?"
Hinata: "I think he's in Hokage's office."
As sasuke leaves, boruto's eyes are sparkling (lol).
Boruto (thinks to himself): "So he is Sarada's dad, my dad's rival, Sasuke! He's so cool!!"
As Sasuke walks down the street, he sees Naruto's childhood outfit lying on the road. He looks up at Uzumaki house's open upstairs window, then silently picks up the outfit.
Naruto sits in his office, when he senses something flying towards him from the doorway. He catches what turns out to be a scroll Sasuke threw his way. Sasuke walks into the office. The two talked and mentioned Boruto.
Sasuke: "It's got to be tough, having a son like that."
The conversation moves onto the technological development of the era, things like the science division.
Naruto: "Are we being left behind by this day and age?"
Sasuke: "I believe the essence of shinobi will stay the same no matter what era we are in."
Sasuke leaves the office and walks down the street. Boruto tries to ambush Sasuke, but Sasuke body-flicks behind Boruto instead.
Boruto: "Wow, so this is the power of my dad's rival, Sasuke! Please let me be your apprentice, I have an opponent I have to beat no matter what!"
Sasuke: "Do you know how to use Rasengan?"
Boruto grew silent.
Sasuke: "When you learn Rasengan, I will agree to be your master."
Boruto hurries to Konohamaru's place in the middle of the night.
Boruto yells: "Konohamaru-sensei, are you home? Stop sleeping, get up! I need your help!"
Konohamaru gets up and is still half asleep: "What the heck are you yelling for in the middle of the night?!"
Boruto: "Teach me Rasengan!"
Konohamaru is instantly wide awake and close to tears.
Konohamaru: "Boruto, you finally want to learn this jutsu. I'm so happy to be the one to teach you this technique!"
The following morning.
Boruto: "I asked you to teach me Rasengan, why are you giving me a water balloon?"
Konohamaru: "It's for your Rasengan training."
Boruto: "Isn't there a more efficient way?"
Konohamaru: "Get started if you are impatient."
Boruto keeps complaining but starts training nonetheless. Sarada is hiding nearby looking at Boruto train.
Boruto passes the water balloon then air balloon training, and is finally able to create a tiny rasengan. He then runs to find Sasuke.
Boruto creates the mini-Rasengan in front of sasuke.
Sasuke: "You call that a Rasengan? Wait until you can make a bigger one then come and find me."
Boruto goes mad and throws the Rasengan out of his hand. The Rasengan slowly disappears in the air. Boruto runs away. Sarada jumps off the tree where she's been hiding.
Sarada: "He's your daughter's teammate after all, you know, you can't let him hold me back, come on dad and agree to be his master. Why are you so hard on him?"
Sasuke turns his head and sees a tree some distance away from them. It shows the damage of being hit by a Rasengan.
Sasuke: "He is indeed talented."
Katasuke finds Boruto, and urges him to use his devise during the Exam. Boruto refuses.
Katasuke: "The Seventh will be present to see the Chunin Exam, you know. Don't you want to show up your power in front of him?"
Boruto: "Dad's going to be there?!"
Boruto has a flashback of Sarada saying she would show her power in front of the Seventh, then agrees to use the devise. Boruto tells Sarada he will participate in the Exam with her.
Boruto keeps training until he can make a normal size Rasengan, then goes to find Sasuke, who finally agrees to be his master.
Scene changes to a camp fire, the master and the apprentice sit by the fire.
Sasuke: "What do you want to learn as my apprentice?"
Boruto: "I want to beat my dad, please tell me his weaknesses."
Sasuke: "You dad has countless weaknesses, but he who always ranked last in school still became the person he is today. It isn't the current Naruto that you should get to know, but rather his journey till this day that should matter to you, don't you think?"
Boruto: "Huh?"
First day of Chunin Exam. Examiner is Sai. The test is "true or false". Those who picks "true" are to stand on one platform, while those who chooses "false" stand on another one. Team Boruto chooses "true" while Team Metal Lee chooses "false".
Sai then reveals the answer to be "the team that isn't painted black has made the right choice". Just when everyone is puzzled, the floors of both platforms, true and false alike, collapse. Beneath the collapsed floors are tanks of black ink, so the whole thing is just a trap, "true or false" is irrelevant.
The instant Boruto begins to fall he considers using Katasuke's devise, but before he decides, Mitsuki and Sarada save him. The team passes. All teams who hanged on to the ledge and didn't fall into the ink are victors.
Sai says smiling: "Congratulations to those who are now painted black, you have failed."
Inojin (thinks to himself): "Seriously dad..."
Hokage office.
Shikamaru: "Your boy passed the first test. And of course my son passed too."
Naruto: "Have you come here just to say this?!"
Shikamaru walks towards the door, then turns and says: "Because this is supposed to be important."
Uzumaki household, Boruto's room. Boruto lies on the bed. He noticed there's a new email on his computer, and sees it's from Naruto.
Mail says: "Congratulations for passing the first test. Dad"
Boruto is cheered up and laughs: "Shitty dad, at least send a shadow clone for something like this!"
Scene changes to Naruto in Hokage office, who just pressed "enter" to send the mail on his computer. Naruto's hand is shaking out of exhaustion.
Boruto is training with Sasuke.
Boruto: "Why do we keep training with shurikens? I'm not good at shurikens, my strong suit is shadow clones."
Sasuke creates a dozen shadow clones on the spot: "I can do shadow clones too. Naruto can make thousands. You can't claim this is your strong suit."
Sasuke proceeds to teach Boruto Itachi's badass "no-blind-spot" shuriken technique.
Sasuke: "Don't always expect others to have the right answers for you. There are things you should think hard to figure out yourself."
Second test, capture the flag. Team Boruto vs the triplet brothers. Boruto is in charge of defending their flag, Sarada is charged with capturing enemy flag, while Mitsuki stays in the middle to intercept enemies and provide backup to either end of the battlefield when necessary.
The brothers, on the other hand, leaves no one to defend the flag, but uses genjutsu to make it appear there are countless identical flags on their base. This way all 3 brothers are on the offense. So it's Boruto vs 3 brothers.
Boruto starts with shadow clones from the start, reaching his limit with 3 clones, 4 counting the real Boruto.
Boruto: "Seems like I have the advantage in numbers!"
The 3 brothers go on to create shadow clones of their own, 2 clones each, so there are now 9 on the brothers' side.
Brothers: "What about now?"
Boruto has a hard fight with the brothers, Sarada sees this and tells Mitsuki to go help Boruto. Boruto's clones are all defeated and vanished. The brothers are about to take the flag, so Boruto uses the cheat bracelet. A big Suiton jutsu, followed immediately by a Raiton (the "chidori" shown in the trailers), demolishing the brothers. Meanwhile Sarada uses Sharingan to dispell the genjutsu and captures the brothers' flag. Team Boruto wins.
The battles of other teams are shown after this. Chouchou uses body expansion jutsu to capture the flag. Metal Lee's team had their flag captured by the enemies, presumably the fault of his teammates, since Metal Lee is shown fighting, not near the flag defending it.
Tenten, the examiner of second test: "As expected of the Seventh's son, Suiton plus Raiton!"
But Tenten notices something about the fight, but chooses to keep silent about it.
Sarada is chatting with Boruto in the test area. A very happy Sarada get very close to Boruto's face, causing Boruto to flush. Mitsuki appears, Boruto is startled and jumps back.
Sarada: "Boruto, your eyes are just like the Seventh's."
Mitsuki: "Really? You sure pay attention."
Sarada: "Seventh is very easy-going, he'll let you stare at him if you want."
Boruto is absent-minded and thinking about something else.
Back home, Boruto hears Himawari greeting him.
Himawari: "Welcome home, big bro! Congratulations on passing the second test!"
Hinata hears and comes out of kitchen.
Boruto: "I'm heading upstairs. I don't want to eat tonight."
Boruto broods in his room. Naruto opens the door and enters, but is uneasy and unsure of what to say, so just picks up Boruto's photos from the desk and fumbles about.
Boruto: "Get out if there's nothing you need me for."
Naruto makes up his mind: "You did great! Do your best in the next round too!"
Naruto extends his fist to bump with Boruto. Boruto half extends his arm but then withdraws.
Boruto: "That was a breeze, there's nothing to it."
Naruto's fist bumps into boruto's chest instead, then leaves the room. Boruto is so happy he tears up, then goes roll around on the bed.
The scene switches to Momoshiki arriving at where Killer Bee is. The two fight and Killer Bee is no match for Momoshiki, who absorbes all chakra attacks with the rinnegan on his right hand, then transforms the chakra into a pill, which boosts his power after he consumes it. Killer Bee attacks with Bijuu-dama, but gets absorbed and then reflected via Momoshiki's left hand. Momoshiki even amplifies the explosion, then picks up the defeated Bee and absorbed his remaining chakra. When Bee's chakra is sucked dry, he is thrown into the waterfall, lifeless.
Morning of the third test. Sarada heads out of home, and says goodbye to Sakura.
Sarada: "Mom you're like a new gal now that dad's back."
Sakura: "Shuddup kiddo what do you know."
Sakura is like a teenager again during the conversation, and Sarada makes fun of her.
Gokage arrive. Kakashi arrives too, pushing Guy's wheelchair. Ino, Sakura and Temari are arriving together again. Hinata arrives with Himiwari.
Test begins. After a few other fights, it's now Boruto vs Shikadai.
Shikamaru says towards Naruto's seat at the Gokage table: "Looks like it's my son versus your son."
Shikamaru then finds Naruto is not sitting at the table, but had gone join Hinata in the normal audience area.
Naruto says to Hinata: "Our son won't lose."
Himawari: "Do your best big bro."
The fight is intense, in the end Boruto is about to hit Shikadai's face with what's apparently Juken, when he's trapped by Shikadai's Shadow Imitation Jutsu.
Shikadai: "Well I had planned on giving up after trading a few blows."
Boruto uses the bracelet to shoot multiple miniscrolls unto the ground, which turn into dozens of Boruto clones surrounding Shikadai.
Naruto notices something at this point.
Shikadai: " I give up."
Rock Lee, referee of the third test, announces: "The victor is Uzumaki Boruto!"
A troubled Naruto asks Hinata to see if there's something up with Boruto with her Byakugan.
In headquarters of Cipher Division, Sasuke is checking on the deciphering progress of the scroll he brought Naruto. The content of the scroll is made clear to Sasuke, who says the Chunin Exam should be paused immediately, and heads towards the third test arena himself.
Hinata confirms Naruto's suspicion, who jumps down into the arena. Boruto happily offers to bump fist with Naruto, who instead grabs his arm, revealing the cheat bracelet. Naruto asks Lee to change the victor to Shikadai, and forcefully takes off Boruto's headband.
Naruto: "The lecture can wait until we get home. The test is still on-going. Leave the test area now."
Boruto: "Lecture?! If you had time for lecturing me before, things wouldn't have come to this. I have never had the privilege of you lecturing me!"
Katasauke breaks into the arena, with a cameraman following him, and starts advertising the bracelet technology to the audience and gokage, despite Naruto telling him to stop.
At this point Kinshiki arrives from the sky, and start smashing up the place. Momoshiki comes out and kicks Naruto in the head, sending Naruto flying out of the stadium. Sakura and other ninjas work to evacuate the stadium. Sarada is almost crushed by a falling column but is saved by Sasuke, who is then attacked by Kinshiki. Boruto tries to attack Momoshiki spamming the bracelet, but all his attacks are absorbed. Momoshiki walks towards Boruto, but Naruto comes back and takes Boruto to safety. Shikamaru binds both Kinshiki and Momoshiki with his Shadow Imitation Jutsu, but Momoshiki breaks free by absorbing the shadows into his right hand.
Momoshiki tells Kinshiki to follow him and ascends into the air, consumes a chakra pill, and releases a giant chakra ball from his left hand, surrounded by all elements, then starts attacking the stadium. Naruto goes into Kurama Head mode to block the attack, and spreads his chakra across the stadium in forms of bushes of golden flame.
Boruto: "So this is dad's power."
Momoshiki wildly throws more attacks of various elements at Naruto, extinguishing the separate flames. This appear to make Naruto's Kurama Head waver, but Sasuke joins in with his Susanoo chakra, and forms a susanoo helmet around the Kurama Head.
Naruto: "Sorry about that, Sasuke."
Momoshiki keeps attacking and laughing, then finally throws the giant black sphere at them.
Naruto turns to Sasuke: "I'll leave the kid to you Sasuke." then turns on Kurama mode. Kurama form tries to shoulder the black sphere, but the sphere still keeps on pushing down. At this point Naruto turns his head to look at Boruto and smiles at him, and the sphere explodes. Naruto vanishes together with the explosion.
Boruto wakes up in a temporarily set up disaster-relief tent, seeing Hinata lying beside him unconscious. Sakura explains Hinita tried to rescue Naruto by rushing into the explosion but was knocked out cold. All around Boruto there is suffering and moaning. Boruto runs out of the tent and falls over on the way.
Boruto runs to the Hokage office, and see on the desk Naruto's part 1 outfit that he threw out the window. Boruto takes off his own coat and put on the old torn up orange outfit.
Boruto looks in the mirror: "I really suck..."
Sasuke enters and sees Boruto, and thinks of Naruto.
Sasuke: "Now you don't know if your dad is dead or alive, and your mom is unconscious. You are on your own now, and if we take away the sister, you are the same as Naruto was when he was your age."
Boruto: "How did dad overcome this?!"
Sasuke: "If you want to know, come ask him yourself!"
Boruto: "But..."
Sasuke: "I can sense his chakra, he's alive! I didn't think you'd be more of a usura-tonkachi than your father."
Boruto: "What is a usura-tonkachi?"
Sasuke: "An idiot who never gives up."
Sasuke gives his old headband to Boruto.
Sasuke: " I'm going to rescue him, together with the Gokage."
Kurotsuchi, Chojuro, Darui and Gaara appear at the doorway. Boruto asks Sasuke to bring him along too.
The roof of Naruto's Hokage mansion. Sasuke is preparing to teleport the group with his Rinnegan.
Sasuke: "Teleportation uses massive chakra, so the number of people I'm sending is limited."
A recently-recovered Hinata hurries to the scene, and tries to stop Boruto from going, arguing Boruto isn't adding to the group's power anyway.
At this point, Boruto takes out Sasuke's headband, and put it on his forehead in front of everyone. In that instant Hinata sees young Naruto in front of her, and she thought about Naruto's ninja way and his journey. Hinata chooses to believe in Boruto.
Sasuke: "Finally you look abit like a shinobi."
Gaara: "This is like seeing the past Naruto and myself. What an inspiring moment."
The group leaves, but just after Boruto jumps into Sasuke's portal, Katasuke and his assitant jump in as well.
In another dimension, Momoshiki is sucking chakra out of Naruto.
Momoshiki: "Such a huge amount of chakra, it's taking more time than I imagined to absorb it."
Sasuke and group fall from the sky. Boruto breaks open the Mokuton branches that are trapping Naruto. Sasuke rushes over to catch a falling Naruto. (My friend jokes about the gentle way Sasuke catches Naruto, which is mirrored in a later scene when Naruto catches a falling, badly burned Sasuke)
Chojuro and Kurotsuki face off with Kinshiki, while Gaara and Darui are keeping Momoshiki busy. Sasuke and Naruto joined team Gaara and are really coming down on Momoshiki, whose chakra manipulation ability barely helps him out.
Momoshiki talks smack during the fight, calling himself god, and saying Naruto and Sasuke are of a lower class than him.
Gaara: "Since Ninjutsus are out of the question, we'll just use Taijutsu. It's a very simple solution."
Darui: "Don't underestimate the shinobi."
Kurotsuki and Chojuro manage to trap Kinshiki with concrete and what appears to be lightning needles. When Kinshiki sees Momoshiki is at a disadvantage he broke free, tearing away a large area of skin from his arm, bearing the muscle and tissues underneath.
Kinshiki: "Momoshiki-sama, it is time for me to put in my all for you."
Momoshiki: "You are created for this moment!"
Momoshiki absorbs Kinshiki into a chakra bum and eats it, then powers up into a demon form.
Sasuke: "That kind of power is not real strength."
Naruto powers up, Sasuke takes off his cloak, and the two skirmish with Momoshiki in a pure taijutsu fight. It's a fantastic combo, with sasuke and naruto taking turns to push Momoshiki back with flying kicks, Naruto catching Sasuke's sword to slash at Momoshiki, who barely block all the sword swings before Sasuke came out from below and launched him into the air with a part 1 lotus kick.
Then the two kick Momo back and forth in the air like table tennis, and prepare to deliver a simultaneous blow when Momoshiki counters, sending Naruto flying and wrapping Sasuke in Chakra chains. Sasuke rolled and got free but Naruto got stuck in boulders, and Momoshiki further crushes him with what's basically two mountains.
Sasuke goes to attack Momoshiki alone, who manipulates the wet concrete to form spikes to hinder Sasuke's dash. Sasuke cuts off the spikes but get trapped when the concrete becomes hard, but uses chidori nagashi to break free of the earth element based concrete, barely evading Momoshiki's giant hammer blow.
Momoshiki uses a simple form of chibaku tensei to wrap around sasuke's skeleton susanoo (probably to prevent him from busting out PS in time) then heat up the whole thing to the point it looks blinding to Boruto who's looking below. Half of sasuke's face is badly burnt before the rock trapping him explodes from the heat.
Naruto enters full Kurama mode to break out of the mountains, and leaps in the air to catch Sasuke. Seeing Sasuke's unconscious/maybe dead form, Naruto roars and starts destroying Momoshiki's Mokuton dragons.
Naruto suddenly pauses as his red hot Kurama rage chakra cools down with a susanoo shade, he turns and sees Sasuke touching his arm to calm him down. Sasuke's face burns are all completely healed.
The Kurama avatar is enclosed in PS armor, seeing this, Momoshiki reshaped his element attacks into a rock giant, and throws its fist at PS Kurama, who unsheathe a katana, evade the punch, and slashes the rock giant in two. Momoshiki falls out, apparantly out of chakra from all his spams, and naruto and sasuke turn off their power off, and fall to the ground, Naruto carrying the still-recovering Sasuke's arm on his shoulder.
Boruto: "Wow"
Suddenly Katasuke ran out and spammed his bracelet at the falling Momoshiki, which only powers up Momo again.
Darui: "Idiot trouble makers.."
Momoshiki recovers and starts bombarding the whole place. Boruto is caught in the destruction but is saved by sasuke's skeleton susanoo in the last second.
The dust clears, and Naruto has protected the Gokage with his chakra. Suddenly Momoshiki creates a huge shadow that covers the whole area where Naruto and Gokage are standing on, and uses Shadow Imitation Jutsu he earlier absorbed from shikamaru to bind the group's movement. He then penetrated Naruto with black Rikudou rods for good measure, rendering Naruto completely immobile. Momoshiki prepares to finish them off with an elemental chakra ball.
Sasuke on the other hand had stayed away from the area of the shadow and so isn't bound. Sasuke carries Boruto on his Susanoo hand, and tells Boruto to use his Rasengan.
Boruto: "But Ninjutsu doesn't work on him."
Sasuke: "Believe in Master, Boruto."
Boruto throws his Rasengan at Momoshiki. Momoshiki sees it and holds up his right hand preparing the absorb it on contact. However the Rasengan fades away just like during Boruto and Sasuke's training. Momoshiki looks bewildered then "whatever", but then got hit in the arm. This breaks the Shadow jutsu, and Sasuke lands in front of Naruto with Boruto following.
Sasuke explains how he saw during training Boruto's Rasengan would visually fade away but still hit and damage the target as evidenced by the tree bearing damage marks.
The group prepares for their final attack. Boruto creates Rasengan again, but Naruto puts his own hand beneath Boruto's and the Rasengan grows massive and golden amidst the blue.
Sasuke launches the attack and dashes towards Momoshiki, who keeps firing chakra bombs but Sasuke evades them all. When he gets close enough, Sasuke leap in the air towards Momoshiki, and throws his sword at the space behind Momo. Then Sasuke uses Ameno to switch places with his sword and got behind Momoshiki.
Momoshiki turned to successfully counter Sasuke's backstab, but Sasuke is actually the decoy here. When he switched places with his sword, his sword kept flying towards Momoshiki, which transformed into a Boruto clone who stabs Momoshiki in the right hand with a kunai, destroying the rinnegan that absorbs Ninjutsu. And now the real Boruto jumps out, carrying the massive Rasengan, and threw the thing in a frightened Momoshiki's face.
The attack damaged Boruto's right arm, which look like it is badly burnt, but it sends Momoshiki flying all the way into outer space, and explodes in Death Star style above the blue planet.
Sasuke walks to the exhausted Naruto, and sits down beside him.
Sasuke: "Looks like this time I win."
Naruto: "Ha.. I guess so. It's true that whatever era it is, the essence of shinobi stays the same."
Boruto: "Tell me more about dad's old stories when we get back!"
(This is kinda huge among hardcore Naruto and Sasuke fans. It's kinda Kishimoto's solution of "we'll settle things" back in chapter 700. The general consensus on Japanese boards seems to be that Sasuke makes this claim because in the final fight he rescues Naruto twice, both times Naruto is incapacitated and couldn't break free on his own, and Naruto rescues Sasuke once, when Sasuke is badly burnt and he thought Sasuke had died, but then sasuke healed his own wounds and got back in the fight within the minute.
At the beginning of the last fight, Naruto had alot of his chakra sucked away, but then Sasuke also just teleported 8 people to a different dimension, which he confirms uses up massive amount of his chakra.
Also there is the fact that the final parts of the battle are all devised and initiated by Sasuke, how Boruto doesn't even know how or why his Rasengan would work in their attack to lift the Shadow Imitation Jutsu, and the final attack to catch Momo off guard in order to destroy his hand is only possible because of the smart use of Ameno (though here Boruto's team work is definitely vital too).
However Naruto fans make the solid point that throughout the movie Naruto is repeatedly shown to be exhausted because of constantly spamming his clones during Hokage work, and sustaining so many clones on a daily basis takes its toll. He is at many times shown with dark circles around his eyes and is shown to barely have strength to email Boruto early on. People joke the only time in the fights when Naruto seems truly awake and himself is when he thought Sasuke had died, when he roared in rage and demolished Momoshiki's elemental monsters, as a testament to Naruto's bond with Sasuke.)
Back in Konoha, things have gone back to normal. Morning at the Uzumaki household. Hinata is fixing Boruto's coat. Rest of the family are eating breakfast.
Boruto: "It's time to head out, I have to go on a mission. Dad you should go to work now too right? Mom give me the coat."
Hinata: "It's not patched up yet."
Boruto: "It's okay, I'm fine with the hole here, I like this coat."
Himawari: "Do your best, big bro!"
Boruto heads out with Naruto and walks onto the street.
Boruto: "You do your best at work today dad!"
Naruto: "And you with your mission!"
And then Boruto and Naruto bump fists, Boruto's right arm is now in bandage just like Naruto's.
Scene switches to a TV interview.
Host: "As the Seventh's son, what do you think is the most important to being a shinobi?"
Boruto: "I think there are three points to this: teamwork and will."
Boruto vanishes after saying this, turns out to be a clone. Naruto, who has been watching the interview on TV, laughs and turns it off.
Team Konohamaru are standing on top of the Hokage monuments.
Sarada: "You're the real Boruto, not a clone right?"
Boruto: "Of course."
Sarada: "You never wanted to become Hokage because both your grandpa and dad are hokage right? But after this whole thing, do you still feel the same...?"
Boruto: "I.. still have no interest in becoming Hokage. I've decided to become someone like uncle Sasuke, a man that protects the village from the dark. That's just so cool. That is my ninja way. Sarada, the job of Hokage is all yours. When you take office, I will protect you and the village."
Sarada flushes like crazy at this.
The panda bear at the start of the movie is on the loose again. And so Boruto and team start their mission for the day.
A long way off, Sasuke and Sakura are standing on top of a tall building and taking in the vista.
The ED is drawn by Kishimoto himself, family protraits of all the characters.
The bonus scene after the ED, Boruto and Sarada stand on top of the panda bear they took down again.
Boruto: "So, who are your parents?"
Mitsuki: "Oh, didn't I tell you guys? My parent is called Orochimaru!"
Sarada: "Whaaaaa... THE Orochimaru?!"
Boruto: "Who is Orochimaru?!"
Sarada: "Is he your mom or your dad?"
Mitsuki: "Well, it doesn't really matter to me either way~"
Boruto yells: "Hey, who the heck is Orochimaru?!"
Far away Orochimaru is taking in the scene.
Woah, can't believe translating this stuff took so much time... hope you guys enjoy! She did say she may have forgotten some points, but it should be mostly accurate. Now just to wait for the movie to come out in the States haha
Start of the movie, in the snowy Kaguya dimension with the castle (one of the dimensions shown in the Kaguya fight in the manga), Sasuke fights Kinshiki. Momoshiki is watching the two fight with great interest. The fight is completely in (awesome) taijutsu. At the end of the skirmish Kinshiki's weapon is about to hit sasuke when sasuke used Ameno to swap himself with a stone statue in front of the castle gate. The two talk, and Kinshiki says he wasn't expecting Sasuke to be this powerful, that he's impressed.
The scene switches to Konoha, to a shot of the back of Naruto. Sakura, Temari and Ino are having a get-together, and a shadow clone of Naruto runs past behind them.
Pedestrian: "Ever since the Seventh took office, all his shadow clones running around have become part of the konoha vista."
One of Naruto's clones is interviewed on TV, while the real Naruto is watching the interview from the Hokage office.
TV host: "After the great war, the world has entered an age of peace. It's only because of the hard work of the Seventh that Konoha is enjoying its prosperity today. Now the five nations are working together to hold the upcoming Chunin Exam. So what does the Seventh think is the heart of the Exam?"
Naruto: "Well it's all about three points: teamwork and will."
TV host: "That's only two."
Naruto: "..."
TV host: "..."
Naruto: "Ah that's about it... Let's all do our best!"
The clone went "poof", and real Naruto turned off the TV.
Scene switches to Boruto, Mitsuki and Sarada, who are on a mission chasing a panda/bear thing. Sarada is arguing with Boruto whether it's a bear or a panda. Mitsuki extends his arm and wraps it around the panda bear. Sarada went "shannaro", rushing at the panda, but Boruto and two of his clones suddenly came out from all directions and took down the animal.
Boruto: "See? Didn't I say it'd be a breeze."
Sarada was displeased: "What about the team work we talked about?"
As the two fight, the panda bear got back up again. At this time, Konohamaru came out and trapped the bear with Shadow Imitation jutsu.
Mitsuki: "Hey, isn't that Nara clan's secret jutsu?"
Konohamaru explains it's the new devise developed by the science division, that it shoots out the ninjutsu sealed within, requires no chakra and can even be used by normal people. While explaining, Konohamaru used a scroll to seal a Rasengan, then the scroll shrinked to the finger's size, and Konohamaru loaded the mini-scroll into the bracelet-shaped devise. The Rasengan is shot onto a hill some distance away and caused an explosion, causing Konohamaru to panic in embarrassment.
Konohamaru: "The bracelet shot the Rasengan, so it's technically not from me!"
As he speaks, a small house on the hill collapses in the background.
The scene switches to Hokage office. Konohamaru and his team are reporting their mission status.
Naruto: "Don't call me Dad. Here in this office I'm Seventh Hokage. Besides not just me, but all the former hokages are looking at us."
The camera pans all the hokage pictures up on the wall. Boruto is not happy about it. Naruto and Boruto stare at each other. Naruto then began to talk about Chunin exam with Konohamaru, when Katasuke, the leader of the science divison, entered. Katasuke asked Konohamaru if the bracelet worked well, and went on to boast about his invention, claiming it's the future direction of ninja arts, how now with the technology, ninjas don't have to waste time training in order to gain great power. Katasuke even suggested turning the Chunin exam into a show using the bracelet's tech.
Naruto: "The Chunin exam is an important occasion that teaches the new generation to bear the responsibility of the future. It's not a show. Your bracelet is not the real power of a shinobi, and I forbid its use in the Exam."
Katasuke tries to argue, but Naruto tells him to leave. Before he walks out the door, Katasuke shares a glance with Boruto. Boruto starts yelling at Naruto again.
Boruto: "Have you forgotten what day it is today?! If you forget a day as important as your daughter's birthday, I will never forgive you!"
Boruto then runs out of the room following Katasuke. Konohamaru, Sarada and Mitsuki continue their conversation with Naruto about the Chunin Exam.
Scene switches to an alley. Katasuke asks Boruto if he is interested in taking part in the Chunin Exam.
Boruto: "I'm not interested in that. So where's the stuff you agreed to get me?"
Katasuke pulls out a computer chip (probably an SD card) and gives it to Boruto.
Scene changes to a burger shop, where Boruto, Shikadai and Inojin are playing games on handheld consoles. Sarada finds Boruto and asks Boruto to enter Chunin Exam with her and Mitsuki. Sarada hands him the application form, but Boruto refuses.
Sarada: "I have to become Chunin first before I can become Hokage, so don't you be the one to hold me back!"
Boruto yells loudly: "I don't care about Hokage, nor do I want to become one!"
All the people in the burger shop turn to look at Boruto.
Boruto: "You'd better go home. It's not a good place to fight, people are staring."
Inojin: "But without all three people on a team, you can't hope to pass the Exam, you know."
Boruto: "Never mind that, let me transfer the gears to you."
Boruto transfers the fully leveled-up gears for the video game they are playing to Shikadai and Inojin. Boruto got the gears from the chip Katasuke gave him.
Shikadai: "I actually kinda like the feeling of accomplishment of leveling up bit by bit."
Inojin and Shikadai then say they have to train and leave the shop.
Scene switches to Konoha central street. Sarada and Boruto are sitting on a bench. Mitsuki is standing facing them. The three are chatting, and somehow start talking about Sasuke.
Mitskuki: "Say, the only person in this whole ninja world who can fight the Seventh on equal footing is Sarada's dad..."
Sarada: "Speaking of parents, we still don't know yours."
Boruto become interested as well.
Mitsuki: "Huh? Haven't I told you guys? My parent... "
Right at this time, Himawari enters the scene.
Himawari: "Big bro!"
Boruto turns his head and sees Himawari and Hinata walking towards them.
Boruto: "Today's my sister's birthday, so I gotta go home right away."
Boruto's face breaks into a big kiddy smile, then he runs towards his mom and sis, talking loudly about what to eat for dinner.
Mitsuki looks at the three walking away: "So Boruto has a side like this too."
Sarada: "Boruto wasn't always the way he is now. In fact, he..."
Scene switches to the Uzumaki household at night. Everyone is happy. Naruto is lighting the candles on the cake while his wife and kids look at him do it. But when Naruto is carrying the cake to the dinner table, he goes "poof" (turns out its a shadow clone). The cake smashes onto the floor. Boruto's face suddenly switches from joy to anger.
Boruto: "Is this how a Hokage should be like?! Working and working all day, won't even bother to come home!"
Hinata tries to calm Boruto, but Boruto shakes her off. Hinata looks very sad.
Boruto: "Grandpa was hokage too right? Are hokages all like that?! It's because Grandpa died so young that dad doesn't get the pain I'm going through! A dad like that is better off not in my life from the start!" (the wording means like Minato dead and absent from Naruto's life from the start, it is an ugly thing to say...)
Boruto runs upstairs, and sees the door to Naruto and Hinata's room ajar. Curious, Boruto goes in to take a look. The window is open in the room. Boruto sees on the desk photos of him as a small child happily playing with Naruto, their family photos, as well as the old part 1 team 7 picture. Near the wardrobe he sees Naruto's part 1 orange outfit.
Boruto: "This thing is ripped apart and full of holes and he still kept it. What an ugly piece of crap."
Boruto throws the outfit out of the window. At this time the door bell rings. Boruto thinks it is Naruto coming home. He excitely hurries downstairs, opens the door and throws a combo attack towards the figure standing in the doorway.
Boruto: "Yo, shitty dad! You've come home at last!"
Sasuke effortlessly blocks the attack with one hand. Boruto lands on the floor and sees it isnt Naruto and becomes embarrassed.
Boruto: "I'm sorry! I thought my dad had come home!"
Sasuke: "So you are Naruto's son. What's your name?"
Boruto: "Boruto!"
Sasuke: "Boruto, huh?.."
Hinata hurries to the door, and sees it's Sasuke: "Oh hello Sasuke-kun!"
Sasuke: "Naruto's not at home?"
Hinata: "I think he's in Hokage's office."
As sasuke leaves, boruto's eyes are sparkling (lol).
Boruto (thinks to himself): "So he is Sarada's dad, my dad's rival, Sasuke! He's so cool!!"
As Sasuke walks down the street, he sees Naruto's childhood outfit lying on the road. He looks up at Uzumaki house's open upstairs window, then silently picks up the outfit.
Naruto sits in his office, when he senses something flying towards him from the doorway. He catches what turns out to be a scroll Sasuke threw his way. Sasuke walks into the office. The two talked and mentioned Boruto.
Sasuke: "It's got to be tough, having a son like that."
The conversation moves onto the technological development of the era, things like the science division.
Naruto: "Are we being left behind by this day and age?"
Sasuke: "I believe the essence of shinobi will stay the same no matter what era we are in."
Sasuke leaves the office and walks down the street. Boruto tries to ambush Sasuke, but Sasuke body-flicks behind Boruto instead.
Boruto: "Wow, so this is the power of my dad's rival, Sasuke! Please let me be your apprentice, I have an opponent I have to beat no matter what!"
Sasuke: "Do you know how to use Rasengan?"
Boruto grew silent.
Sasuke: "When you learn Rasengan, I will agree to be your master."
Boruto hurries to Konohamaru's place in the middle of the night.
Boruto yells: "Konohamaru-sensei, are you home? Stop sleeping, get up! I need your help!"
Konohamaru gets up and is still half asleep: "What the heck are you yelling for in the middle of the night?!"
Boruto: "Teach me Rasengan!"
Konohamaru is instantly wide awake and close to tears.
Konohamaru: "Boruto, you finally want to learn this jutsu. I'm so happy to be the one to teach you this technique!"
The following morning.
Boruto: "I asked you to teach me Rasengan, why are you giving me a water balloon?"
Konohamaru: "It's for your Rasengan training."
Boruto: "Isn't there a more efficient way?"
Konohamaru: "Get started if you are impatient."
Boruto keeps complaining but starts training nonetheless. Sarada is hiding nearby looking at Boruto train.
Boruto passes the water balloon then air balloon training, and is finally able to create a tiny rasengan. He then runs to find Sasuke.
Boruto creates the mini-Rasengan in front of sasuke.
Sasuke: "You call that a Rasengan? Wait until you can make a bigger one then come and find me."
Boruto goes mad and throws the Rasengan out of his hand. The Rasengan slowly disappears in the air. Boruto runs away. Sarada jumps off the tree where she's been hiding.
Sarada: "He's your daughter's teammate after all, you know, you can't let him hold me back, come on dad and agree to be his master. Why are you so hard on him?"
Sasuke turns his head and sees a tree some distance away from them. It shows the damage of being hit by a Rasengan.
Sasuke: "He is indeed talented."
Katasuke finds Boruto, and urges him to use his devise during the Exam. Boruto refuses.
Katasuke: "The Seventh will be present to see the Chunin Exam, you know. Don't you want to show up your power in front of him?"
Boruto: "Dad's going to be there?!"
Boruto has a flashback of Sarada saying she would show her power in front of the Seventh, then agrees to use the devise. Boruto tells Sarada he will participate in the Exam with her.
Boruto keeps training until he can make a normal size Rasengan, then goes to find Sasuke, who finally agrees to be his master.
Scene changes to a camp fire, the master and the apprentice sit by the fire.
Sasuke: "What do you want to learn as my apprentice?"
Boruto: "I want to beat my dad, please tell me his weaknesses."
Sasuke: "You dad has countless weaknesses, but he who always ranked last in school still became the person he is today. It isn't the current Naruto that you should get to know, but rather his journey till this day that should matter to you, don't you think?"
Boruto: "Huh?"
First day of Chunin Exam. Examiner is Sai. The test is "true or false". Those who picks "true" are to stand on one platform, while those who chooses "false" stand on another one. Team Boruto chooses "true" while Team Metal Lee chooses "false".
Sai then reveals the answer to be "the team that isn't painted black has made the right choice". Just when everyone is puzzled, the floors of both platforms, true and false alike, collapse. Beneath the collapsed floors are tanks of black ink, so the whole thing is just a trap, "true or false" is irrelevant.
The instant Boruto begins to fall he considers using Katasuke's devise, but before he decides, Mitsuki and Sarada save him. The team passes. All teams who hanged on to the ledge and didn't fall into the ink are victors.
Sai says smiling: "Congratulations to those who are now painted black, you have failed."
Inojin (thinks to himself): "Seriously dad..."
Hokage office.
Shikamaru: "Your boy passed the first test. And of course my son passed too."
Naruto: "Have you come here just to say this?!"
Shikamaru walks towards the door, then turns and says: "Because this is supposed to be important."
Uzumaki household, Boruto's room. Boruto lies on the bed. He noticed there's a new email on his computer, and sees it's from Naruto.
Mail says: "Congratulations for passing the first test. Dad"
Boruto is cheered up and laughs: "Shitty dad, at least send a shadow clone for something like this!"
Scene changes to Naruto in Hokage office, who just pressed "enter" to send the mail on his computer. Naruto's hand is shaking out of exhaustion.
Boruto is training with Sasuke.
Boruto: "Why do we keep training with shurikens? I'm not good at shurikens, my strong suit is shadow clones."
Sasuke creates a dozen shadow clones on the spot: "I can do shadow clones too. Naruto can make thousands. You can't claim this is your strong suit."
Sasuke proceeds to teach Boruto Itachi's badass "no-blind-spot" shuriken technique.
Sasuke: "Don't always expect others to have the right answers for you. There are things you should think hard to figure out yourself."
Second test, capture the flag. Team Boruto vs the triplet brothers. Boruto is in charge of defending their flag, Sarada is charged with capturing enemy flag, while Mitsuki stays in the middle to intercept enemies and provide backup to either end of the battlefield when necessary.
The brothers, on the other hand, leaves no one to defend the flag, but uses genjutsu to make it appear there are countless identical flags on their base. This way all 3 brothers are on the offense. So it's Boruto vs 3 brothers.
Boruto starts with shadow clones from the start, reaching his limit with 3 clones, 4 counting the real Boruto.
Boruto: "Seems like I have the advantage in numbers!"
The 3 brothers go on to create shadow clones of their own, 2 clones each, so there are now 9 on the brothers' side.
Brothers: "What about now?"
Boruto has a hard fight with the brothers, Sarada sees this and tells Mitsuki to go help Boruto. Boruto's clones are all defeated and vanished. The brothers are about to take the flag, so Boruto uses the cheat bracelet. A big Suiton jutsu, followed immediately by a Raiton (the "chidori" shown in the trailers), demolishing the brothers. Meanwhile Sarada uses Sharingan to dispell the genjutsu and captures the brothers' flag. Team Boruto wins.
The battles of other teams are shown after this. Chouchou uses body expansion jutsu to capture the flag. Metal Lee's team had their flag captured by the enemies, presumably the fault of his teammates, since Metal Lee is shown fighting, not near the flag defending it.
Tenten, the examiner of second test: "As expected of the Seventh's son, Suiton plus Raiton!"
But Tenten notices something about the fight, but chooses to keep silent about it.
Sarada is chatting with Boruto in the test area. A very happy Sarada get very close to Boruto's face, causing Boruto to flush. Mitsuki appears, Boruto is startled and jumps back.
Sarada: "Boruto, your eyes are just like the Seventh's."
Mitsuki: "Really? You sure pay attention."
Sarada: "Seventh is very easy-going, he'll let you stare at him if you want."
Boruto is absent-minded and thinking about something else.
Back home, Boruto hears Himawari greeting him.
Himawari: "Welcome home, big bro! Congratulations on passing the second test!"
Hinata hears and comes out of kitchen.
Boruto: "I'm heading upstairs. I don't want to eat tonight."
Boruto broods in his room. Naruto opens the door and enters, but is uneasy and unsure of what to say, so just picks up Boruto's photos from the desk and fumbles about.
Boruto: "Get out if there's nothing you need me for."
Naruto makes up his mind: "You did great! Do your best in the next round too!"
Naruto extends his fist to bump with Boruto. Boruto half extends his arm but then withdraws.
Boruto: "That was a breeze, there's nothing to it."
Naruto's fist bumps into boruto's chest instead, then leaves the room. Boruto is so happy he tears up, then goes roll around on the bed.
The scene switches to Momoshiki arriving at where Killer Bee is. The two fight and Killer Bee is no match for Momoshiki, who absorbes all chakra attacks with the rinnegan on his right hand, then transforms the chakra into a pill, which boosts his power after he consumes it. Killer Bee attacks with Bijuu-dama, but gets absorbed and then reflected via Momoshiki's left hand. Momoshiki even amplifies the explosion, then picks up the defeated Bee and absorbed his remaining chakra. When Bee's chakra is sucked dry, he is thrown into the waterfall, lifeless.
Morning of the third test. Sarada heads out of home, and says goodbye to Sakura.
Sarada: "Mom you're like a new gal now that dad's back."
Sakura: "Shuddup kiddo what do you know."
Sakura is like a teenager again during the conversation, and Sarada makes fun of her.
Gokage arrive. Kakashi arrives too, pushing Guy's wheelchair. Ino, Sakura and Temari are arriving together again. Hinata arrives with Himiwari.
Test begins. After a few other fights, it's now Boruto vs Shikadai.
Shikamaru says towards Naruto's seat at the Gokage table: "Looks like it's my son versus your son."
Shikamaru then finds Naruto is not sitting at the table, but had gone join Hinata in the normal audience area.
Naruto says to Hinata: "Our son won't lose."
Himawari: "Do your best big bro."
The fight is intense, in the end Boruto is about to hit Shikadai's face with what's apparently Juken, when he's trapped by Shikadai's Shadow Imitation Jutsu.
Shikadai: "Well I had planned on giving up after trading a few blows."
Boruto uses the bracelet to shoot multiple miniscrolls unto the ground, which turn into dozens of Boruto clones surrounding Shikadai.
Naruto notices something at this point.
Shikadai: " I give up."
Rock Lee, referee of the third test, announces: "The victor is Uzumaki Boruto!"
A troubled Naruto asks Hinata to see if there's something up with Boruto with her Byakugan.
In headquarters of Cipher Division, Sasuke is checking on the deciphering progress of the scroll he brought Naruto. The content of the scroll is made clear to Sasuke, who says the Chunin Exam should be paused immediately, and heads towards the third test arena himself.
Hinata confirms Naruto's suspicion, who jumps down into the arena. Boruto happily offers to bump fist with Naruto, who instead grabs his arm, revealing the cheat bracelet. Naruto asks Lee to change the victor to Shikadai, and forcefully takes off Boruto's headband.
Naruto: "The lecture can wait until we get home. The test is still on-going. Leave the test area now."
Boruto: "Lecture?! If you had time for lecturing me before, things wouldn't have come to this. I have never had the privilege of you lecturing me!"
Katasauke breaks into the arena, with a cameraman following him, and starts advertising the bracelet technology to the audience and gokage, despite Naruto telling him to stop.
At this point Kinshiki arrives from the sky, and start smashing up the place. Momoshiki comes out and kicks Naruto in the head, sending Naruto flying out of the stadium. Sakura and other ninjas work to evacuate the stadium. Sarada is almost crushed by a falling column but is saved by Sasuke, who is then attacked by Kinshiki. Boruto tries to attack Momoshiki spamming the bracelet, but all his attacks are absorbed. Momoshiki walks towards Boruto, but Naruto comes back and takes Boruto to safety. Shikamaru binds both Kinshiki and Momoshiki with his Shadow Imitation Jutsu, but Momoshiki breaks free by absorbing the shadows into his right hand.
Momoshiki tells Kinshiki to follow him and ascends into the air, consumes a chakra pill, and releases a giant chakra ball from his left hand, surrounded by all elements, then starts attacking the stadium. Naruto goes into Kurama Head mode to block the attack, and spreads his chakra across the stadium in forms of bushes of golden flame.
Boruto: "So this is dad's power."
Momoshiki wildly throws more attacks of various elements at Naruto, extinguishing the separate flames. This appear to make Naruto's Kurama Head waver, but Sasuke joins in with his Susanoo chakra, and forms a susanoo helmet around the Kurama Head.
Naruto: "Sorry about that, Sasuke."
Momoshiki keeps attacking and laughing, then finally throws the giant black sphere at them.
Naruto turns to Sasuke: "I'll leave the kid to you Sasuke." then turns on Kurama mode. Kurama form tries to shoulder the black sphere, but the sphere still keeps on pushing down. At this point Naruto turns his head to look at Boruto and smiles at him, and the sphere explodes. Naruto vanishes together with the explosion.
Boruto wakes up in a temporarily set up disaster-relief tent, seeing Hinata lying beside him unconscious. Sakura explains Hinita tried to rescue Naruto by rushing into the explosion but was knocked out cold. All around Boruto there is suffering and moaning. Boruto runs out of the tent and falls over on the way.
Boruto runs to the Hokage office, and see on the desk Naruto's part 1 outfit that he threw out the window. Boruto takes off his own coat and put on the old torn up orange outfit.
Boruto looks in the mirror: "I really suck..."
Sasuke enters and sees Boruto, and thinks of Naruto.
Sasuke: "Now you don't know if your dad is dead or alive, and your mom is unconscious. You are on your own now, and if we take away the sister, you are the same as Naruto was when he was your age."
Boruto: "How did dad overcome this?!"
Sasuke: "If you want to know, come ask him yourself!"
Boruto: "But..."
Sasuke: "I can sense his chakra, he's alive! I didn't think you'd be more of a usura-tonkachi than your father."
Boruto: "What is a usura-tonkachi?"
Sasuke: "An idiot who never gives up."
Sasuke gives his old headband to Boruto.
Sasuke: " I'm going to rescue him, together with the Gokage."
Kurotsuchi, Chojuro, Darui and Gaara appear at the doorway. Boruto asks Sasuke to bring him along too.
The roof of Naruto's Hokage mansion. Sasuke is preparing to teleport the group with his Rinnegan.
Sasuke: "Teleportation uses massive chakra, so the number of people I'm sending is limited."
A recently-recovered Hinata hurries to the scene, and tries to stop Boruto from going, arguing Boruto isn't adding to the group's power anyway.
At this point, Boruto takes out Sasuke's headband, and put it on his forehead in front of everyone. In that instant Hinata sees young Naruto in front of her, and she thought about Naruto's ninja way and his journey. Hinata chooses to believe in Boruto.
Sasuke: "Finally you look abit like a shinobi."
Gaara: "This is like seeing the past Naruto and myself. What an inspiring moment."
The group leaves, but just after Boruto jumps into Sasuke's portal, Katasuke and his assitant jump in as well.
In another dimension, Momoshiki is sucking chakra out of Naruto.
Momoshiki: "Such a huge amount of chakra, it's taking more time than I imagined to absorb it."
Sasuke and group fall from the sky. Boruto breaks open the Mokuton branches that are trapping Naruto. Sasuke rushes over to catch a falling Naruto. (My friend jokes about the gentle way Sasuke catches Naruto, which is mirrored in a later scene when Naruto catches a falling, badly burned Sasuke)
Chojuro and Kurotsuki face off with Kinshiki, while Gaara and Darui are keeping Momoshiki busy. Sasuke and Naruto joined team Gaara and are really coming down on Momoshiki, whose chakra manipulation ability barely helps him out.
Momoshiki talks smack during the fight, calling himself god, and saying Naruto and Sasuke are of a lower class than him.
Gaara: "Since Ninjutsus are out of the question, we'll just use Taijutsu. It's a very simple solution."
Darui: "Don't underestimate the shinobi."
Kurotsuki and Chojuro manage to trap Kinshiki with concrete and what appears to be lightning needles. When Kinshiki sees Momoshiki is at a disadvantage he broke free, tearing away a large area of skin from his arm, bearing the muscle and tissues underneath.
Kinshiki: "Momoshiki-sama, it is time for me to put in my all for you."
Momoshiki: "You are created for this moment!"
Momoshiki absorbs Kinshiki into a chakra bum and eats it, then powers up into a demon form.
Sasuke: "That kind of power is not real strength."
Naruto powers up, Sasuke takes off his cloak, and the two skirmish with Momoshiki in a pure taijutsu fight. It's a fantastic combo, with sasuke and naruto taking turns to push Momoshiki back with flying kicks, Naruto catching Sasuke's sword to slash at Momoshiki, who barely block all the sword swings before Sasuke came out from below and launched him into the air with a part 1 lotus kick.
Then the two kick Momo back and forth in the air like table tennis, and prepare to deliver a simultaneous blow when Momoshiki counters, sending Naruto flying and wrapping Sasuke in Chakra chains. Sasuke rolled and got free but Naruto got stuck in boulders, and Momoshiki further crushes him with what's basically two mountains.
Sasuke goes to attack Momoshiki alone, who manipulates the wet concrete to form spikes to hinder Sasuke's dash. Sasuke cuts off the spikes but get trapped when the concrete becomes hard, but uses chidori nagashi to break free of the earth element based concrete, barely evading Momoshiki's giant hammer blow.
Momoshiki uses a simple form of chibaku tensei to wrap around sasuke's skeleton susanoo (probably to prevent him from busting out PS in time) then heat up the whole thing to the point it looks blinding to Boruto who's looking below. Half of sasuke's face is badly burnt before the rock trapping him explodes from the heat.
Naruto enters full Kurama mode to break out of the mountains, and leaps in the air to catch Sasuke. Seeing Sasuke's unconscious/maybe dead form, Naruto roars and starts destroying Momoshiki's Mokuton dragons.
Naruto suddenly pauses as his red hot Kurama rage chakra cools down with a susanoo shade, he turns and sees Sasuke touching his arm to calm him down. Sasuke's face burns are all completely healed.
The Kurama avatar is enclosed in PS armor, seeing this, Momoshiki reshaped his element attacks into a rock giant, and throws its fist at PS Kurama, who unsheathe a katana, evade the punch, and slashes the rock giant in two. Momoshiki falls out, apparantly out of chakra from all his spams, and naruto and sasuke turn off their power off, and fall to the ground, Naruto carrying the still-recovering Sasuke's arm on his shoulder.
Boruto: "Wow"
Suddenly Katasuke ran out and spammed his bracelet at the falling Momoshiki, which only powers up Momo again.
Darui: "Idiot trouble makers.."
Momoshiki recovers and starts bombarding the whole place. Boruto is caught in the destruction but is saved by sasuke's skeleton susanoo in the last second.
The dust clears, and Naruto has protected the Gokage with his chakra. Suddenly Momoshiki creates a huge shadow that covers the whole area where Naruto and Gokage are standing on, and uses Shadow Imitation Jutsu he earlier absorbed from shikamaru to bind the group's movement. He then penetrated Naruto with black Rikudou rods for good measure, rendering Naruto completely immobile. Momoshiki prepares to finish them off with an elemental chakra ball.
Sasuke on the other hand had stayed away from the area of the shadow and so isn't bound. Sasuke carries Boruto on his Susanoo hand, and tells Boruto to use his Rasengan.
Boruto: "But Ninjutsu doesn't work on him."
Sasuke: "Believe in Master, Boruto."
Boruto throws his Rasengan at Momoshiki. Momoshiki sees it and holds up his right hand preparing the absorb it on contact. However the Rasengan fades away just like during Boruto and Sasuke's training. Momoshiki looks bewildered then "whatever", but then got hit in the arm. This breaks the Shadow jutsu, and Sasuke lands in front of Naruto with Boruto following.
Sasuke explains how he saw during training Boruto's Rasengan would visually fade away but still hit and damage the target as evidenced by the tree bearing damage marks.
The group prepares for their final attack. Boruto creates Rasengan again, but Naruto puts his own hand beneath Boruto's and the Rasengan grows massive and golden amidst the blue.
Sasuke launches the attack and dashes towards Momoshiki, who keeps firing chakra bombs but Sasuke evades them all. When he gets close enough, Sasuke leap in the air towards Momoshiki, and throws his sword at the space behind Momo. Then Sasuke uses Ameno to switch places with his sword and got behind Momoshiki.
Momoshiki turned to successfully counter Sasuke's backstab, but Sasuke is actually the decoy here. When he switched places with his sword, his sword kept flying towards Momoshiki, which transformed into a Boruto clone who stabs Momoshiki in the right hand with a kunai, destroying the rinnegan that absorbs Ninjutsu. And now the real Boruto jumps out, carrying the massive Rasengan, and threw the thing in a frightened Momoshiki's face.
The attack damaged Boruto's right arm, which look like it is badly burnt, but it sends Momoshiki flying all the way into outer space, and explodes in Death Star style above the blue planet.
Sasuke walks to the exhausted Naruto, and sits down beside him.
Sasuke: "Looks like this time I win."
Naruto: "Ha.. I guess so. It's true that whatever era it is, the essence of shinobi stays the same."
Boruto: "Tell me more about dad's old stories when we get back!"
(This is kinda huge among hardcore Naruto and Sasuke fans. It's kinda Kishimoto's solution of "we'll settle things" back in chapter 700. The general consensus on Japanese boards seems to be that Sasuke makes this claim because in the final fight he rescues Naruto twice, both times Naruto is incapacitated and couldn't break free on his own, and Naruto rescues Sasuke once, when Sasuke is badly burnt and he thought Sasuke had died, but then sasuke healed his own wounds and got back in the fight within the minute.
At the beginning of the last fight, Naruto had alot of his chakra sucked away, but then Sasuke also just teleported 8 people to a different dimension, which he confirms uses up massive amount of his chakra.
Also there is the fact that the final parts of the battle are all devised and initiated by Sasuke, how Boruto doesn't even know how or why his Rasengan would work in their attack to lift the Shadow Imitation Jutsu, and the final attack to catch Momo off guard in order to destroy his hand is only possible because of the smart use of Ameno (though here Boruto's team work is definitely vital too).
However Naruto fans make the solid point that throughout the movie Naruto is repeatedly shown to be exhausted because of constantly spamming his clones during Hokage work, and sustaining so many clones on a daily basis takes its toll. He is at many times shown with dark circles around his eyes and is shown to barely have strength to email Boruto early on. People joke the only time in the fights when Naruto seems truly awake and himself is when he thought Sasuke had died, when he roared in rage and demolished Momoshiki's elemental monsters, as a testament to Naruto's bond with Sasuke.)
Back in Konoha, things have gone back to normal. Morning at the Uzumaki household. Hinata is fixing Boruto's coat. Rest of the family are eating breakfast.
Boruto: "It's time to head out, I have to go on a mission. Dad you should go to work now too right? Mom give me the coat."
Hinata: "It's not patched up yet."
Boruto: "It's okay, I'm fine with the hole here, I like this coat."
Himawari: "Do your best, big bro!"
Boruto heads out with Naruto and walks onto the street.
Boruto: "You do your best at work today dad!"
Naruto: "And you with your mission!"
And then Boruto and Naruto bump fists, Boruto's right arm is now in bandage just like Naruto's.
Scene switches to a TV interview.
Host: "As the Seventh's son, what do you think is the most important to being a shinobi?"
Boruto: "I think there are three points to this: teamwork and will."
Boruto vanishes after saying this, turns out to be a clone. Naruto, who has been watching the interview on TV, laughs and turns it off.
Team Konohamaru are standing on top of the Hokage monuments.
Sarada: "You're the real Boruto, not a clone right?"
Boruto: "Of course."
Sarada: "You never wanted to become Hokage because both your grandpa and dad are hokage right? But after this whole thing, do you still feel the same...?"
Boruto: "I.. still have no interest in becoming Hokage. I've decided to become someone like uncle Sasuke, a man that protects the village from the dark. That's just so cool. That is my ninja way. Sarada, the job of Hokage is all yours. When you take office, I will protect you and the village."
Sarada flushes like crazy at this.
The panda bear at the start of the movie is on the loose again. And so Boruto and team start their mission for the day.
A long way off, Sasuke and Sakura are standing on top of a tall building and taking in the vista.
The ED is drawn by Kishimoto himself, family protraits of all the characters.
The bonus scene after the ED, Boruto and Sarada stand on top of the panda bear they took down again.
Boruto: "So, who are your parents?"
Mitsuki: "Oh, didn't I tell you guys? My parent is called Orochimaru!"
Sarada: "Whaaaaa... THE Orochimaru?!"
Boruto: "Who is Orochimaru?!"
Sarada: "Is he your mom or your dad?"
Mitsuki: "Well, it doesn't really matter to me either way~"
Boruto yells: "Hey, who the heck is Orochimaru?!"
Far away Orochimaru is taking in the scene.
