Basic Information

Name: Spike Spiegel
Nickname: Spike, Swimming Bird
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Clan: None

Looks: Spike is tall and thin. He has fluffy dark green hair and reddish-brown eyes, one of which is artificial and lighter than the other. A flashback revealed it is his fully functioning right eye which is surgically replaced by the cybernetic one (although Spike himself may not have conscious recollection of the procedure since he claims to have lost his natural eye in an "accident"). He is usually dressed in a blue leisure suit, with a yellow shirt and Lupin III inspired boots. Spike often has a cigarette between his lips, sometimes despite rain or "No Smoking" signs. This is also done in homage of Lupin III, as Lupin's partner, Jigen, smokes cigarettes that are in poor condition. Another quite distinctive homage is to Bob Dylan. Spike's whole rebellious demeanor and hair, are one of the very distinct similarities between Dylan and Spike.

Personality: Spike is very laid back and lackadaisical, often a source of consternation for his crew mates. Some members of the Bebop crew occasionally refer to him as a "lunkhead" due to his attitude, and generally Spike just takes life as it comes. He also is shown to enjoy sleeping, and that may tie into his mantra of 'living a dream.' Spike's philosophy seems to be based on the ancient samurai ideals of immediacy, such as considering oneself as dead and the idea of death being an awakening from a dream, which are both elements of bushido illustrated in the Hagakure. Spike has a habit of being very indirect with his emotions, for example behaving antagonistically towards someone he actually likes; this could apply to Spike's relationship with Faye. Spike is also heard saying that the three things he hates most are "kids, animals, and women with attitudes." He asks his friend Jet why all three are aboard the Bebop.

Village Info.
Village of Birth: Amegakure
Village of Alliance: Konohagakure

Rank//Chakra Info.
Ninja Rank: Kage
Specialty:
  • Taijutsu: Spike employs a unique style of taijutsu called "Jeet Kune Do" in which he keeps his body from becoming tense. Instead of using his own power to produce damage, he takes control of the opponent's movement and turns it against them.
  • Water: Spike was born with a natural affinity for the water element. Though he is nowhere near the skill level displayed by someone like Tobirama Senju, he can use water techniques with less hand seals than the average ninja.
  • Rain: During his time in Amegakure Spike became more than proficient in the use of Rain style techniques letting him turn the simplest of rain storms into devastating attacks.

Background Info.
History:

The Syndicate

Spike grew up in Amegakure where war ravaged the entire nation. Without a stable economy or government the villages became corrupt and riddled with crime. One group in particular became feared above all, the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate. This crime syndicate was known to be ruthless in their business and quickly gained power. Along with his best friend, Vicious, Spike became a member of the Syndicate and became an enforcer. During this time he and Vicious became even closer, going as far as to consider each other brothers.

A Forbidden Love

With Vicious' friendship also came the friendship of a woman named Julia. She was also a member of the Syndicate and was Vicious' girlfriend. After a battle against a rival organization, Spike stumbled into the home of Julia. He was badly injured and near death, but Julia managed to care for him and nurse him back to health. During this time Spike fell in love with Julia, his best friend's girlfriend. The two knew the love as forbidden, so they planned to escape together and leave the Syndicate behind. Before this could be carried out Vicious learned of their plan. He ordered Julia to kill Spike or face death herself, after which Spike would also be killed. Seemingly cornered they didn't know what to do. But the oppurtunity arose during a battle against another group. During this battle Spike faked his own death and fooled the Syndicate into thinking he was dead. He then waited for Julia so they could leave and be together, but Julia never showed.

The Bebop

Some time after faking his death Spike left Amegakure and began travelling the world. He eventually joined up with a retired Konoha Police Force member named Jet Black. The two became bounty hunters where they traveled the world picking up whatever bounties they could get their hands on, though much of the time the bounties either wound up dead or being let go. Slowly their crew grew. The first addition was a trouble making woman named Faye Valentine, who much like Lady Tsunade had a large gambling problem which had brought her tons of debt. Despite never being formally invited to join the Bebop, and despite the complaints of the two men, Faye seemed to come and go as she pleases. Spike developed a somewhat complicated relationship with Faye in which they clearly cared for each other but rarely showed it. The next two additions to the crew were a data dog named Ein and a child named Ed who's gender is questionable. Spike was once quoted as saying, "Jet, do you know that there are three things that I particularly hate? Kids. Animals. And women with attitudes. So tell me Jet...why do we have all three of them neatly gathered in our crew?!"

Unfinished Business

While travelling with the Bebop Spike kept his ear open for any news of Julia. Eventually he found out where she was staying and tracked her down. Once reunited he planned to escape again with her and live in peace. During her attempted escape Julia was killed by members of the Red Dragon Syndicate, which was now headed by his old friend Vicious. After her death Spike dedicated himself to settling things with Vicious. He single handedly attacked the Syndicate and worked his way up to his old friend. Here, they had one final stand off. During the battle Spike was pushed to his limits but was able to kill Vicious after sustaining serious injuries himself. While leaving the Syndicate he slowly moved down a set of stairs. He held out his hand and made a gun with his fingers before saying "Bang!". He then collapsed.

A Closed Past, and an Open Future

After taking care of his past Spike along with the Bebop crew made their way to Konoha. Here they settled down and gave up the life of bounty hunting. Spike was finally able to develop a relationship with Faye whom he remains with to this day. His friend Jet Black reconnected with an old friend of his and was reinstated into the Konoha Police Force. The quirky Ed and Ein live with Spike and Faye. Despite the fact that Spike hates animals, children and women with attitudes, he lives happily with them and has become a respected shinobi in Konoha.

Other

Ein: Ein is the name of the dog who follows Spike during his travels. This dog was once part of the Inuzuka clan but as the runt of his litter he was too weak and small to contribute in battle. He had no ability to use ninjutsu, taijutsu or Inuzuka techniques, and was therefore useless to his partner. Ein was put up for adoption and went from family to family before making his way into the hands of Ed. When the two joined Spike and the rest of Bebop, Ein became very fond of Spike and viewed him as his master. After the Bebop moved back to Konoha, Ein came to live with Spike, Faye and Ed. Ein constantly follows Spike around, even during battle. Though he is of no use in direct combat, he is a dog and has a heightened sense of smell.

Juliet: A momento of Spike's past, Juliet is the name of the katana Vicious used to wield. It has no special features other than it being a little longer than most. Spike took the sword after killing his old friend and now carries it with him at all times. The sword is fairly long with the bottom of its hilt at Spike's hip and the tip reaching the ground. Over the years Spike has become a decent swordsman.

Smoking: Spike constantly has a cigarette in his mouth and like Asuma he has learned to adapt his smoking habit into his battle style.

Personally I don't mind if the dog does nothing, just a random compagnon. Though in the case that you want to have the skills of a real Inuzuka dog and jutsu's, you need to be an Inuzuka.

But as you said that isn't the case I don't really see a problem.
