Setting: On the outskirts of a forest during sunrise.
Sensei: Maho, get up.
Maho moaned and rolled over in his sleeping bag. Sensei took Maho's sleeping back away from him and poured water on his face.
Maho: AHHH...!! COLD!!!!
Sensei laughed.
Sensei: C'mon, Maho. We're going to trek around the forest a bit.
Maho: I thought you said it was dangerous to go into the forest; that's why we stayed out here, in the fields.
Sensei: It was dangerous for you, not for me. And now you have the Blue Beast to make you stronger than ever.
Maho: What exactly made it so dangerous for me?
Sensei: You'll see soon.
Sensei slung the bag filled with everything they had over his shoulder, and began to walk into the forest.
Sensei: In fact, the very danger that haunted this forest will make you stronger.
Sensei walked into the forest and out of sight.
Maho: H-h-h-HAUNTED!?!? Sensei, wait up!!
Maho ran into the forest, using magic to locate Sensei.
Two dark figures stood, crouched in a tree, watching Maho run after Sensei.
?: Is that who boss wants?
??: No, the other one; the adult.
?: Alright, let's go get 'em!
The two figures disappeared from their branches in the blink of an eye.
Maho and Sensei walked through the forest, and Sensei explained some of the more intracite and complex uses of the crystals and their magic. In the middle of one of his sentances, Sensei stopped Maho abruptly.
Maho: What is it-?
Sensei: Shhh... Over there.
Sensei pointed to a rather large tree sitting in the middle of a small clearing.
Maho: So?
Sensei: You haven't been looking for magic while we've been walking, have you?
Maho: I was trying to listen to you!
Sensei: How nice and polite, but not what we need right now. Sense for magic.
Maho pressed his palms together and felt for magic around him, nearly being knocked off his feet by the enormous ammount of magic in the tree before him.
Maho: WHOA-!
Sensei: SH!
Maho: What is it?
Sensei: It's a Shizen; a great tree that governs life around it, mainly plants, but it can influence animals as well.
Maho: What about humans?
Sensei: Other than the fact that it can make every living thing within a fifty mile radius of the tree try to kill us, we should be fine.
Maho: What ticks it off?
Sensei: Harming, or potentially harming, everything that it governs.
Maho: So... We should be fine. Right?
Sensei: It will also want to kill us if we get too close to it. And I've heard a story about one Shizen who killed someone merely because he was within the radius of things it governed.
Maho: Oh, wow...
Sensei's feet lifted off of the ground, the trampled grass under it standing up straight, as with the rest of the lush grass the two spellcasters had stepped on during their trek.
Maho: What are you doing?
Sensei: There was another story of a Shizen killing someone because he damaged grass that it governed. We've been lucky, but I'd hate to see you unneccisarily killed.
Maho: I see...
Maho's feet also lifted off of the ground, and the grass repaired itself almost instantly.
Maho: Sensei,
Sensei: Yes, Maho?
Maho: Why are we whispering?
Sensei: As to not disturb nature and make the Shizen try to kill us.
Maho: Shizen's are sensitive, aren't they?
Sensei: Shizeni are. So, let's just go around it, and we'll be-
?: STOP RIGHT THERE!!
Maho and Sesnei span around in the air to see two men wearing light armor with long swords sheathed at their sides.
??: Kid, stay out of this, we just want the guy in the green jacket.
Sensei dropped to the ground and motioned for Maho to do the same.
Sensei (To Maho): Okay, this is a dangerous situation. Those are Samurai; warriors who cannot use magic but should not be taken lightly. Unlike Spellcasters, Samurai have great physical stamina, and they are immensly physically strong and fast. Most Spellcasters have to use the body-flicker spell to keep up with them.
Maho (To Sensei): Why do they want you?
Sensei (To Maho): I'm not sure, but the Samurai aren't our only worry; we're fighting dangerously close to a Shizen. One false move, and it'll try to kill us all! We have to fight them, but make sure not to anger the Shizen while we do so. Keep the levels of magic the Shizen has in the back of your mind; if it starts to gather magic into itself, be ready to run. If it starts to give off magic, teleport away as FAST AS YOU CAN! I'll be alright, just make sure you get out okay.
Maho (To Sensei): Alright-
?: If you two are done...
The one Samurai ran at Sensei, disappearing from sight, drawing his sword as he ran. Sensei drew his sword and held it in front of himself to try and defend, but the Samurai appeared behind Sensei, spinning around in the air, ready to imbed his sword in the back of Sensei's flak jacket.
Maho: NO!
As Maho shouted the word, a burst of magic erupted from his mouth, stripping trees of their branches, but also knocking the Samurai and Sensei off their feet.
??: The kid's a Spellcaster!
In the back of Maho's mind, he saw the magic levels in the Shizen warps as if disturbed as the trees regrew their leaves almost as fast as he tore them off.
Sensei (To himself): Maho, what did you do?
Sensei span around on the ground and tried to cut the Samurai with his sword, but the Samurai defended with his own sword.
While Sensei and the Samurai reengaged in battle, the other Samurai came at a sprint towards Maho. Maho held up his hand and the Samurai broke his sword on Maho's invisible shield of magic.
??: B@$t@rd! We don't need you anyways; just the other guy!
Before Maho could react, the Samurai had kicked him in the chest, sending him to the ground, and then walked over to his friend.
??: How long does it take to take out a non-Samurai?
?: Shut up! This guy's tougher than you think!
Sensei: Tougher than you think!
Sensei held up his hand, and then flicked his finger towards the one Samurai. He went flying backwards into a tree, destroying the bark of it.
??: So you're a Spellcaster too, eh? Boss never said anything about that; I'm not sure this is worth the gold he promised us.
Sensei: Gold? Boss?
The other Samurai was lifted into the air by Sensei's magic and then boundin place by an unseen force.
Sensei: Who sent you here? How much is he paying you?
Maho: Ummm... Sensei...
Sensei: NOT NOW, MAHO!
Maho: But, Sensei-
Sensei: Maho, whatever it is, it can wait!
Maho: I'm not sure it can.
Sensei turned his head towards Maho.
Sensei: What is it...
Even without sensing for magic, Sensei could see the Shizen growing even bigger in size, various birds and other small animals comming out of their homes inside of it. It grew multiple branches and the leaves grew sharper, ready to fire at any time.
??: Oh my go-
Sensei fired the Samurai over by his friend, and walked up next to Maho.
Maho: This is a problem, right?
Sensei: A big problem.
Sensei turned around and took off at a full sprint.
Maho: Sens-
Root and brances began to wrap around Maho's arms and legs as he stood still, watching Sensei run.
Maho: Oh, crap!
The branches and roots were cut with magic and Maho took off after Sensei, enfusing magic with his feet to catch up to Sensei.
??: Hey! Man, get up! Get up NOW!
The Samurai took his friends sword and slashed at tree branches and roots that were comming towards them. His friend woke up to him fighting an invisible enemy.
?: What's going on?
??: Nature's trying to kill us; let's go!
The two Samurai took off at a run after Maho and Sensei. They weren't letting the gold they were promised get away from them.
Sensei: Maho, get up.
Maho moaned and rolled over in his sleeping bag. Sensei took Maho's sleeping back away from him and poured water on his face.
