Speed Test Minato and Gai

I was doing some thinking and just some real simple math, and thought about who would be faster in a nearly instant situation. We've already seen Minato teleport to a mark before Ei could hit him, but what about an 8th Gated Gai?

Well lets get started on my argument.

Gai first demonstrated his speed when talking to Sasuke near the beginning of the first Chunin Exams, right after Sasukes fight with Rock Lee. Sasuke blinked and Gai had vanished from his vision. As Sasuke opened his eyes Gai was already behind him. The average blink takes 100 - 400 milliseconds. For the sake of argument, lets say Sasuke took the longest blink at 400 milliseconds. So it took Gai 400 milliseconds to be behind Sasuke at the range, max.

The average human reaction time is 261 milliseconds. It takes 261 milliseconds for an average human to react. Now Minato is obviously not the average human. So lets take 61 milliseconds off the reaction time, to make up for him being so experienced. 200 Milliseconds is considered peak human reaction time. Thats about as fast as you'll get in real life. But this isn't real life right? This is Naruto, so lets take off another 100 to account for Minato being a general bad ass and Hokage of the Leaf. So he has an inhuman, impossible, reaction time of 100 milliseconds, Minato does.

Now if you've been paying attention I've given Gai the short end of the deal, and gave Minato a LOT of slack. Minato has an impossible reaction time, and Sasuke supposedly took a long ass blink while Gai made his way behind him. So now we account for Gates.

"Any shinobi who activates this state will temporarily gain powers a hundred times greater than their normal self, but will die because of the damage done to their body." - Eight Gates - Narutopedia ( )

Now 100 times seems a big exaggerated right? Not really, but AGAIN for the sake of the argument and any Minato fan boys out here, let me give Gai the short end of the stick. We'll cut the 8 gates boost in HALF.

400 milliseconds / 50 = 8

That means 8th gated guy, it only takes him 8 Milliseconds to be behind Sasuke at the range they were at, a big difference from 400. And this is after cutting Gai down to his absolute lowest. Now how many milliseconds does it take Minato to react? 100 right? That's an inhumane reaction speed. Lets cut it down EVEN MORE just for the hell of it. I'm giving Minato fans a lot of slack here. Lets take one fifth off of the reaction speed. 80, he can react at 80 milliseconds.

80 / 8 = 10

Gai can be behind Minato 5 times over before Minato reacts to the first instance of Gai moving. Gai could move faster than Minato could react and think about teleporting. While Minato can move from one place to another instantly, he has to actually activate the jutsu, he has to think about using it, and Gai simply moves faster than Minato can THINK about using FTG.

Please, if I screwed up anywhere, used botched logic, anything like that, point it out so we can correct it. Am I missing any factors? Keep in mind this is not a vs, they're not fighting, I'm simply seeing who would be able to react faster if they were at mid range and Minato had to dodge an attack from an 8th Gated Gai. Intelligent Arguments welcome!

These are assumptions, but I agree, Gai>>>>>Minato in everything besides ninjutsu

anyone who says gai is faster then minato is dumb
FTG=INSTANT
Gai can either be as fast as minato or slower.

Guy's reaction speed is superior to Minato's. Yes.

Calcs aren't needed.

speed is inconsistent in this manga along with everything else but gai has to open the 8th gate to be faster than minato so he has the speed title for 10 minutes lol

8th Gated Gai's foot speed > Minato's

But if we're taking everything into account, FTG is instant.

Your entire science thread became irrelevant the moment you mentioned FTG, which is instantaneous movement. Speed equals distance divided by time. If you were talking about Minato's foot-speed, however, your thread would relevant.

I guess I'm going to have to respond to this again, even though I clearly spoke about it in the original post. Now pay attention, because I'm literally doing this a second time, right in front of you, all you have to do is read.

YES FTG is instant, BUT Minato has to THINK about using FTG. He has to atleast know that he needs to use it. Think about it, it's not automatic, his FTG doesn't just happen without him wanting it to does it? When Ei nearly hit him, he used it at the last second before Ei hit him. He saw Ei move towards him and nearly hit him. It didn't just automatically activate. Now look back to the post, I proved that Gai could literally be behind Minato 5 times before Minato could react to the first movement. Do you know what reaction time is? Its how long it takes for you to react to something, for you to even know that its happening.

I know this can be a bit hard for some of you to understand, but basically, through these calculations, Gai's moving faster than Minato can realize that he NEEDS to teleport.

Thunder god jutsu is a transportation jutsu, Gui is just extreme running teleportation beats running speed sines it dose not need rely on terrain and weather conditions to optimize performance. Ask your self can a car beat a jet plain?

Why does no one read my posts.
Why does everyone just respond with no actual argument, just what they think. They don't even say why. They don't even read the post before posting.

He appeared and went away in front of Gai.. i'm sure that required THINKING.

But yea, 8th gated Gai is physically faster.. However, normal gai.. nah.

Minato saved Guy from Marada's TSB while Guy was a meter max from them, after Minato teleported in front of Guy the ball has to hit him and he has to react, he then teleported and Guy (in the 8 gate) wasn't even touching him yet i don't see your calculations to be precise

Gai's speed trumps minato's reaction, FTG gets to be useless.

Minato is fast but Guy is faster. Minato's teleportation doesn't count imo because thats not speed its teleporting

Speed = Distance/Time

Minato teleporting from point A to B is him moving instantaneously aka instantaneous speed/velocity. So those who disregard space time ninjutsu as speed are scientifically wrong. Nothing is faster then instant speed.

And then even without space time ninjutsu, his speed is still insane, in both body flicker and reaction. 8 gates guy would know ;)

"Praised among all ninja as the greatest in god-like speed, the honour of that valour fascinates even the elites of other villages."

Guy's striking/combat speed is second to none though. But great emphasis has always been put on his taijutsu prowess, including the speed of his taijutsu.
