Barrier ninjutsu is a special type of chakra formed in to usually a square shape, Covering a certain area to protect or trap, The space time barrier functions differently, Instead of forming a square barrier it tears a hole in the space time continuum, Allowing anything that hits it to be pulled through a dimensional void and redirected to a targeted location, This has been speculated to be achieved through use of a FTG kunai to pull the technique towards the location in a similar method to the techniques formation itself.

I do the first technique relies on the manipulation of space and time within a certain barriered area, The edges while not unbreakable or in the style of a traditional barrier are still potent and full of chakra causing anyone to walk within the kill zone so to speak, to be affected by the technique becoming disoriented slower and less effective on a whole.
While the shiki technique variant is using the seal of the flying thunder god in its traditional manner but instead of transporting themselves to the seal they instead teleport an item namely the exploding tags.

Barrier first.
Minato begins by taking a position relaxed sitting upon the ground, He then formulates the correct sealing technique in his head, Visualising the barrier as it would be positioned, upon doing so he begins to extend his chakra through the earth below him, adding elements of the FTG seal in to the visualised barrier causes the space/time contimuum to distort within the area, then using his mastery of fuuinjutsu he maintains control of the area forming it around him in to a wide area, controlling on the basics of a barrier technique to prevent his chakra from running wild he forms it in to a large radius with solid edges in the chakra preventing the technique from leaking out so to speak, once he has done this he increases the density of his chakra to control the loose flow of time and space within the barrier causing it to bend to his will.

Using his chakra Minato follows the instructions of Minato (Head****ed lol)
He uses his mastery of space time chakra to bend the flow of light by causing space time distortions around the light sources inside the barrier causing ripples and refractions throughout the light.
To increase the effect he uses his knowledge of the ninjutusu camouflage concealment technique to further refract the broken light around the space time ripples.

Minato follows the instructions of his teacher completetly inverting the technique by switching the space time distortions to the exact opposite positions of the previous ones, causing the distortions to switch rapidly infracting the light to a different location leaving the barrier completely changed.

Minato focuses his body trying to maintain the concept of working on inverted controls, He ducks slides and spins as the kunai come, Allowing his body to follow the man throwing them at all times, This proves to be more difficult then usual due to the inverted controls but he adapts quickly thanks to his high intelligence, Continuing to dip and dive between the kunai he starts tracking the movements of the doppleganger despite his increased speeds.

Minato notices the pillar raising from the earth in front of him, although realizing quickly the nature of the barrier he is in he charges raiton in to a S/T kunai as he draws it spinning around he slashes in a 360 degree spin slicing through the top of the earth pillar that has erupted behind him.
