Whoa whoa hold on a second. Sound weak against earth? It's actually the complete opposite because soundwaves shatter earth. Ok, you covered the NB part of sound but I like to get scientific with stuff so this isn't nearly as close to sound.No using condoms?
I like sound because of it's offensive and supplementary skills. The enhanced hearing can help a lot with anticipating, and countering attacks. I also like it's offensive and destructive force even though it isn't a tangible thing. I get horny when I use sound to make genjutsu XD.
Sound Release is a skill which allows the user to use sound to fight his opponent. Manipulating their chakra the user is able to increase their own sense of hearing thus allowing them to hear the slightest sounds. It can also be used to attack the opponent sound waves which can damage their hearing making them go deaf, but also damage their center of orientation and balance thus confusing them and allowing the user to gain the upper hand. It can also be used to put the opponent into a genjutsu like Tayuya of the Sound Four does.It is created by combining the two of the basic five elements: Lightning and Wind. It's weakness is Earth since the earth (certain techniques) can prevent the sound waves from reaching their target. It is also weak against Wind for the same reason it overpowers Lightning.it is a perfect sound isolator but it can also blow away the sound waves thus dispelling them.
Questions, opinions and thoughts please. You obviously know the basic stuff since you're a sensei and a skilled RPer so I will not bother with doing the stupid routine training. I want to make this into a discussion of sorts to see your opinions on the jutsu themselves as well as their usability, etc.Frequency
First of all, a frequency is measured in Hertz. A frequency in theory is how many waves pass a certain point in a certain amount of time. So, basically, the lower the interval, the higher the frequency.

Now, the cool thing is, adjusting the frequency. A higher frequency is a higher pitched tone, while a lower frequency is a lower pitched tone. If you listen to music and hear the bass, the frequency is lower. You can also feel it in your body a lot more than high frequency tones, because generally those are harder to perceive in the first place. The neat thing is, that this allows us to alter the effects of sound techniques by altering the frequency. That being said, you probably see how versatile sound actually can be, and how it can create different effects. Even if you can't hear something, the sound waves are still there and can still have effects on your body.
Substance it moves/passes through
Now, realize that sound can move through any medium. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Though we needs some sort of limitations, and it's reasonable to say wind is a good counter to sound if it can be seen (doujutsu) or heard, but at that point it might be too late (depending on how a technique is used and how the effects are). Earth, however, depending on the situation (and the level of understanding of the usage by the opponent) can be a devastating counter as well.
Now, look below:
-Speed of sound:
solid > liquid > gas.
Sound moves fastes of all through solids. Generally, this is because the particles and atoms in earth are more tightly packed than they are in liquids or gas. So, the closer the atoms/molecules, the faster sound moves.
- Elastic properties
There is a catch in between different solids. Sound moves faster through rigid solids (i.e. steel, iron) than other things like jelly. This is because solids that are rigid generally mean that the atoms and molecules have a much stronger force of attraction towards each other than in other solids. This is because of the fact that, once moved, they move back to their original position/form more quickly (and thus resulting in a much higher vibration speed). jelly in this case has much weaker attraction between the molecules, that's why it's so "elastic" (not to be confused with elasticity like rubber), and much more flexible.
- Density
Next to this, there is the density. Now, more dense substances = more mass. More mass=bigger molecules. Because sound is based on kinetic energy that travels from one point to another, moving through denser objects means it has to use more energy, seeing as it has to move (vibrate) larger molecules. This however is used for substances with the same elastic properties.
To explain this take two examples with nearly the same elastic properties. Gold and aluminum (Gold = 10.8 psi; aluminum = 10 psi). While they nearly have the same elastic properties, gold is much denser, so it will travel faster through aluminum than gold.
If the technique doesn't specify frequencies etc. but just a generic effect then that's all you can do. Basically, no you don't have free form manipulation of the frequency unless the technique allows you to. I don't get it, other than him being able to hear the sound he would also feel the effects. If it's closer to infrasound then he would feel those effects, etc.Alright, I like the sound of this (pun intended).
Regarding different frequencies. Can I manipulate the frequency of all sound techniques to be lower (if I want to disorient my opponent) or higher (to damage them)? What kind of effect does it have if I keep the sound technique in the frequency heard by the human? What happens then?
In a fight I saw Scorps say that Sound is weak to wood since wood is one of the best insulators against sound? How come the same doesn't apply to earth?
Can I make the sound waves completely unhearable for them to still have some effects?

Shaak Ti channels her chakra through her body merging her wind and lightning chakras inside her solar plexus, creating the new chakra, sound chakra. He then focuses that chakra throughout his body adn channels it upwards through her chakra pathways all the way to her throat. Focusing the chakra in her vocal chords, Shaak Ti screams releasing sound from her speaking apparatus. She uses the chakra she gathered to enhance the soundwaves release at the same time she screams.

As Shaak Ti's eyes were bound she took a deep breath. She focused her chakra into her ears into the main parts which are responsible for receiving sound. That way she enhances her sense of hearing to a much greater degree, being able to perceive the slightest sounds on the field. She then tries to sync her hearing with her breathing, using her own breath as sort of a guide using it to hear everything around her. Her breath bounces off of the different objects, her ears gathering all the information and processing them giving her a somewhat clear picture of the surroundings. Shaak Ti then focuses her senses onto Barney listening to him as he reads. She halts before starting to follow him asking a question.
"You can read?!"
She then refocuses on her senses switching from hearing the surrounding to get a clear picture of where she is going, to listening to Barney to be able to clearly perceive him and follow him.

Shaak Ti keeps focusing her chakra, the process being already easy for her as she got accustomed to it. She marks the circular trajectory of Barney and hears him draw a kunai from his pouch using the sound waves. As he draws the kunai and throws it she draws a kunai of her own from her pouch, deflecting each kunai she sends at him while still keeping track of his location and movements as he reads, remembering the words he speaks.
Question, what would happen if something really loud happened with this technique active? I'm sure there are some drawbacks to this.

This jutsu requires you to gather sound chakra in your hands and clap them together. This forces a strong soundwave to burst forward. Because of its frequency it is able to disperse oncoming jutsu, however, only up to C rank, included. It's a directional blast, that travels forward and is aimed at jutsus. Since sound weakens with distance the sooner it hits the jutsu the better the dispersion. It doesn't work directly on opponents.

Shaak Ti channels chakra into her palms focusing it carefully into her palms. Once ready she slams her palms together, the contact between her palms expelling the chakra releasing a sound wave from her palms which dispels and oncoming attack heading towards her.
