Thank you Souji-senpai! This technique is good, but the tremor is my absolute favorite still. Haha! That seems neat. I believe Akasha-senpai is doing that as well. Sorry for being such a slow learner.

Penguin saw Souji nod over to the cave and start walking. Cave? That is an earth source. A huge earth source. I wonder what's gonna happen.

Penguin strolled into the cave after Souji, eyes glued on him.

Ah. Using the pre-existing earth to attack from above, not below. That is innovative. No wonder it caught the Obito Uchiha off guard. And he was a little kid I heard. Sick stuff.

Penguin started molding his physical and spiritual energies together in parts to form chakra. The chakra inside him had started to get a doton nature due to Penguin thinking on all the doton he has learned so far and what's to come. Then the promise Shinta-sensei made to Penguin once he finished doton. After giving the chakra a doton nature, Penguin slapped his hands together and moved his fingers around to form a hand seal, letting his chakra flow into a small part of the cave. This flow was an uncontrolled surge of chakra, breaking apart part of the cave, crushing anything beneath it.

This jutsu is pretty neat because the opponent wouldn't expect it first off. Secondly it is so fast and chakra efficient. Plus it can reach into long range which is so good. The damage output on this technique is also astounding. The only bad thing is you need to not be caught in the crushing, and you need a pre-existing earth source.

 

[Souji]

"Akasha-senpai? Ah, right, I heard about her new status. I suppose great minds think alike." he said, smirking slightly. Souji let his thoughts drift for a moment, recalling a fight he had with the 'Paper Angel'. He made a mental note to himself to finish that fight sometime down the road.

"A nice counter to that technique would be to use pretty much any higher ranked Earth technique to defend yourself. The rocks do A-rank damage but are not controlled by your chakra, so they're relatively easy to stop."

"These next two techniques can be performed in a cool combination. For the first one, perform the Tiger hand seal, and channel your Earth chakra through the ground underneath you and your opponent into a mud river. It requires a high level of manipulation to do this, so focus!"

"Once you've done that, you will subsequently perform the Ram → Horse → Dragon hand seals and apply your shape manipulation to create a Dragon's Head made of mud that emerges from the mud river. From the mouth of the dragon, you will then allow it to shoot concentrated mud bullets at your target."

"If you have a fire jutsu, I want you to perform it last, and combine it with the mud bullets you would have fired in order to create something almost like lava pellets!"

Indeed Souji-san, indeed. Penguin watched his senpai draw a blank face. As soon as Penguin mentioned Akasha, Souji started daydreaming. Maybe he had a crush, or possibly was impressed by the woman.

That makes sense haha!

After Penguin is finished listening to the instructions, he pauses for a moment, envisioning the jutsu. He then stands in shock and awe.

Wait, wait, wait. Are these jutsu the ones used by the God of Shinobi? Hiruzen Sarutobi himself? When he fought snake man Orochimaru? Oh my gosh!

Penguin starts gathering chakra via molding his physical and spiritual energies. Once gathered, he molds these energies in equal parts, creating chakra that flows throughout his body. As the chakra is created, Penguin thinks about the earth. It could be swampy, it could be hard and coarse, and dirty. These thoughts gave Penguin's chakra a doton nature. Penguin then forms a hand seal and inserts his chakra into the ground. The ground where his chakra was inserted started turning into a flowing river of mud due to nature manipulation.

Now for part number two...

Penguin strings together three hand seals and inserts more chakra into the river of mud. Due to his chakra and shape manipulation, some of the mud is turned into a small dragon's head. The dragon's head starts spewing out highly concentrated mud balls at a tree, peppering it.

These jutsu are great. The can be used in conjunction with each other and other jutsu, it's hard to avoid due to all the bullets, Hiruzen used it, and you can throw your opponent off balance with the river. Did I mention long range?

The bad parts are that it really isn't that high of a level ninjutsu. You can't use this on water either. Other than that, real solid.

"I've heard rumors that Hiruzen was the strongest Kage of his era, and perhaps of all time. He was known to be able to perform all jutsus in Konoha. His disposition and grandfatherly-like figure was a role model for many a generation of shinobi in the Leaf. Myself included..."

Souji remembered the lessons in the Academy of the Hokages. Each one of them was considered the pinnacle of the shinobi world, and his aspirations were to be like them. Perhaps one day.


"A water technique of high enough rank should be able to wash away the mud. Fire techniques could dry up the mud river before the bullets form, but I think they'd need to be sufficiently strong."

"Alright, moving right along. Perform the Rat, Horse, Dog, and Snake hand seals and then create rock pillars that rise out from the ground. A cool thing about these pillars is that they can be controlled by your chakra and manipulated around the battlefield up to mid-range. When you've surrounded your target, allow these pillars to swarm and stop them, with a type of 'prison' around them, a cage of sorts."

"The second one in this set is also a defensive technique. Strike the ground with your hands and channel your Doton chakra to form a slab of Earth that rises up, creating a wall of sorts that can protect you from the front."

"Another variation has you manipulating the ground so two slabs of Earth rise up on your left and right and move away from each other, creating a hole. Think of it like a trap door that lets anything below it fall in. The hole isn't humongous, but it's probably sizable enough to be useful in certain situations."

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user manipulates the ground in front of him to form a slab that tilts upwards, up to 90º, creating a wall of earth that can defend from incoming frontal attacks. In addition, the user can also create 2 slabs that will rise and tilt to the sides in front of him, as if "opening up" the ground. This can be done to create a clear path if anything hazardous is above the ground in that specific area.

Penguin could tell Souji admired Hiruzen more than anyone in the world. Penguin smiles and laughs at Souji's knowledge of the Professor and the "True" God of Shinobi.

Hiruzen was my second favorite Hokage, but I think you know my favorite. Hiruzen was no doubt the longest reigning and favorite Hokage of the people. And his powerful summons...it makes me want to find the Monkeys and sign their contract. They are a very powerful and smart species.

Ah I see. This ought to go pretty smooth.

Penguin starts molding chakra by combining his physical and spiritual energies together, along with thinking about Doton's properties, giving the chakra a Doton nature. Once the chakra was gathered, Penguin strings together four hand seals with ease, and sends the chakra to the ground below a raiton bunshin Penguin made before hand. Using shape and nature manipulation, four sections of rock came up to surround my raiton bunshin.

Follow up techniques? Oh there are many. Swamp of the Underworld would be good due to they cannot escape from above, Earth Spikes for the same reason or the fact you can create spikes on the rocks you raised up. Doton no Jutsu would seem viable since you can create a single spike to skewer your opponent with ease that way. Lastly, the Dropping Lid seems good as the opponent would have no way of knowing it would be coming. Possibly even the Earth Dislodging technique that killed Obito. Would you agree? But this is a good jutsu. I would use it to trap my opponent then use any of the attacks I listed, or possibly huge a huge katon to made a pseudo lava out of the rock. Haha! But the only downside to the technique is that it really isn't that strong. But that doesn't bother me.

Penguin molds his energies once more to form chakra. Once the chakra is molded, he thinks about Doton's properties once more to give his chakra a Doton nature to it. Penguin then strikes the ground with his hand and channels chakra into the ground, and by using shape and nature manipulation, forms a huge wall of earth in front of himself.

I think the other variation would be more useful since my opponent wouldn't really expect it haha. But this is a decent defensive jutsu that blocks the line of sight which helps me a lot. I could use this jutsu and shoot a Raiton: Gian through it and my opponent wouldn't expect it really.

"Good."

"Raise your dominant hand and summon a mud river that can reach almost any range. This can push away your enemy or overwhelm them. If you have a Suiton jutsu, follow up with this technique to increase the speed of this technique. It's a good combination to counter lightning because the water and mud will trap and conduct the electricity if it's a low enough rank. This also creates a mud source, and can help supplement certain techniques, like the Earth Dragon Bullet from earlier."

Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent by merging with the ground itself. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. The disadvantage with this technique is that merging with the ground is rather slow and while perfomring the technique, the user is vulnerable to high ranked Earth techniques. The user isn't hidden from doujutsu or sensory ninjas and cannot travel beyond the 3 meter deep mark. Moving around in the ground is slow and the user cannot sense very well what is happening above.

Penguin starts molding his spiritual and physical energies together. Once evenly combined, this causes chakra to flow throughout Penguin's body. Penguin then raises his hand, and uses his chakra to manipulate the ground to form a river of mud that washes away a clone.

Well, this jutsu is really fast to perform and reaches any range. Coupled with a suiton, the river becomes way faster, but unless you and your opponent are really far away, that isn't needed. If you use a small katon, this can superheat the mud and form a pseudo lava. The only disadvantage I could think of is that this jutsu requires earth to do, the mud isn't the fastest thing in the world, and if someone had a strong enough katon they could turn this into solid rock. Since the mud is a doton, I could make earth spears out of the mud, correct?

And with the last jutsu, I doubt I would use it. There is a superior version to this jutsu not only in earth, but in ninjutsu. Compensate for it's weakness? Well, if you were a sensor, you would compensate for the lack of sensory. For the speed issue, I would create a diversion or a clone before I used this to deal with my enemy. Isn't that what you would do Souji-senpai? And for the jutsu's strengths and weaknesses, this jutsu's only advantage is that you can go underground to evade techniques or if you blocked the LoS from your opponent, you can sneak attack them. The disadvantage is that you cannot go beyond 3m, you are noticed by dojutsu and sensor users, and it is slow.

 

[Souji]

"Well, I suppose if the spears can be made from mud, I don't see why not. Diversions are one of my favorite tactics, but they're hard to pull off, so I simply rely on thought-out combinations. Heh."

"Ok! Moving on. You'll perform the Rabbit, Boar, Rat, Horse, Tiger, and Snake hand seals. Slam your hands on the ground after that, and channel your kneaded Doton chakra through the ground, forming Dragon's Veins through it. Basically, Dragon's Veins are like bulges in the ground that look like pumping veins on our body. From these veins, you can control where they flow, since each Dragon's Vein pumps your Doton chakra through it. Depending on how much chakra you channel and focus, you can adjust the strength of the jutsu. These Dragon's Veins, when you so desire, will then tear the Earth apart, creating a hole or chasm at the vein's location and split the Earth into two separate sections. You can have multiple Dragon's Veins to significantly alter the terrain to your advantage."

"For this exercise, simply try using one Dragon's Vein to split the Earth between us. Create a deep enough chasm that can cause a good amount of injury if your victim falls into it, so about 15-20 meters. Just be careful not to fall into it, of course."

Description: The user will first perform the required hand seals Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake and slamming the hands on the ground, the user can, by flowing concentrated chakra into the Dragon Veins flowing underground, tear the earth apart, creating large chasms by raising the earth in two oposite sides in the desired location and then splitting that piece of earth through the center. The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

"And once you've completed that, perform the snake hand seal for the next technique, and slam your hand on the ground again. The ground up to mid range around you will rumble and 'turn up' as if spouting, releasing a bunch of rubble upward and out. It's a good jutsu that can destroy earth constructs up to the same rank, or an annoyance for your enemy to have to deal with the rubble, distracting them."

Description: After performing snake hand seal the user slams their hand on the ground. The result is that the ground becomes heavily turned up with chunks of rubble popping out of the ground. This technique is used as a means to distract opponents to either create an escape or follow through with a surprise attack although it can also do some damage or be udes to destroy enemy earth techniques of equal rank and bellow.

Ah I see now. Thanks for the tip. Dragon's veins huh? Seems complicated, but oh well.

Penguin beings forming chakra by molding his spiritual and physical energies until they are mixed together, letting energy flow through his body. He then changed the chakra's nature to doton by thinking of doton's properties. While this is going on, Penguin claps his hands together and wiggles his fingers around to form the Rabbit → Boar → Rat → Horse → Tiger → Snake hand seals. After this is done, Penguin slams his hands on the ground to create a dragon vein within the ground. The earth in the middle of Souji and Penguin rose in two separate parts about fifteen meters in the air, creating a fissure in the middle of the earth. Once Penguin lifts his hands up, he uses the left over chakra he stored and forms the snake hand seal while slamming his right hand on the ground. This causes dirt and pebbles to pop out of the fissure, barely reaching to where Penguin was standing.

Hmm that is kind of neat. Penguin's popping pebbles. That is what I shall call it. But that first jutsu is real neat. It takes away your opponent's footing which is always good, and can reach ridiculous ranges. I love how you can choose the curve, width, length, etc. via the dragon's veins. The downside is that it takes a little while to perform and if you cannot touch the ground, you cannot use it.

The second jutsu is a great little distraction. Good range, quick, blocks their vision and distracts them, etc. I wouldn't use it all too much, but it has it's benefits. It also has the same downsides as the previous jutsu minus the speed.

"Triple P. You should make some nice Earth Penguin-themed customs and spread the love and knowledge." Souji chuckled.

"This first jutsu in the next set is pretty... handy, no pun intended. Perform the Snake hand seal followed by the Seal of confrontation. Then, you'll mold Earth chakra and allow your arm to become encased in an armor of sorts, covering it in rocks. You can use this to perform enhanced Taijutsu strikes. Kitsuchi used this to beat up some fodder Zetsus."

"I do have one question for you: how would you use this technique defensively?"

"Here, since we don't have any Zetsus with us, try it on my clone."

Useful for escaping or helping to set up for certain strategies. Some key points... you can't be detected if you're underground or if something is in the tunnel. Maybe you could set up a trap with a clone, or something similar."

After listening to his senpai's words, Penguin begins molding chakra by combining his physical and spiritual energies together. After thinking about the hard, firm, and balanced earth, Penguin's chakra gets a doton nature to it. As the doton chakra channeled through him, Penguin channels it into his right arm and releases some of it. By using shape and nature manipulation, Penguin turns the doton chakra into actual rocks that cover his arm.

How would I use this defensively? If someone came at me with a C-ranked wind, fire, or doton, within reason I could easily tank it with this arm right here. Same with B-ranked suiton and D-ranked raiton. That is also an advantage to this technique. Defensive and offensive capabilities are definitely out there for this jutsu. The only bad part is that is such a short range jutsu.

With his left over chakra, Penguin performs the Ram → Dog → Rat → Bird hand seals and channels his chakra through his feet and into the ground. Using shape manipulation, he causes the chakra to form a tunnel under himself that goes behind his senpai. Penguin then jumps down and scurries up behind his senpai, smiling and poking his shoulder.

This technique is pretty cool and sneaky hehe! Like a covert op! But ye, the advantages are that it is basically undetectable and it can be used to surprise the enemy or ambush them. The bad part is, you will need a clone or a friend to help pull this off with ease.

Souji jumped a little when Penguin tapped his shoulder.

"Nice. I should have had my Byakugan activated. You're a sneaky one..." he chuckled.

"Alright, form the Snake handseal and manipulate the ground by channeling your chakra through it. This will create two walls of earth around your target that will then sandwich and crush them. Nothing excessively complicated."

"What would you use this technique for? Give me a combat scenario where you'd find this useful."

Souji creates more fodder- uhhh, Shadow Clones, for Penguin to try this on.

"The next technique after that requires an advanced form of manipulation that turns the earth into a fine particulate form... dust. Release Doton chakra through the ground in front of you and create a wall of dust particles in front of you that will then push forward, creating a dust screen that can blind your opponent, save for dojutsu users and sensors, who, in theory, should be able to see through the distraction."

"As with the first technique, how would you utilize this, and furthermore, how would you counter it?"

Like second nature, another Shadow Clone was simply waiting, like a pig to the slaughterhouse.

Haha thanks! Sounds easy enough. Penguin begins molding his spiritual and physical energies together to form chakra, and by thinking about doton and it's properties, Penguin's chakra begins to have a doton nature to it. Penguin then channels his chakra under the clone as he forms the snake hand seal, and by using shape and nature manipulation, causes two walls of earth to erupt around the clone. The clone would then poof away after being crushed. If my opponent was blind, like in a mist of sorts, I could use this and gain the upper hand. Or possibly attack from different angles with kage bunshin, and once I see an opening I could use this and take him by surprise.

Penguin, using his left over doton chakra already flowing throughout his body, channels his doton chakra into the ground. By using shape and nature manipulation, Penguin lifts up his arm causing a dust wall to rise up from the ground and then goes forward blinding the clone. Penguin then throws a kunai aimed for the clone's bicep, making him poof. This would serve as a distraction compared to a defense or an attack. I would use it with a kage bunshin and then attack from above with myself via kenjutsu, or a jutsu that opens a portal like Earth Lid. I would counter it with a wind technique that can push the dust technique back and blind my opponent as well.

Then, give me your reasonings as to why you used those moves like you did."

Ashitaka gets closer to the scroll so that he can view it with ease. The three techniques that he saw seemed easy to perform. Just basic doton jutsu by the looks of them.

Alright, a combination you say? Sounds pretty cool. Let's see what I got!

Ashitaka begins to channel his doton chakra under the clone facing him as he claps his hands, and by using shape manipulation, two huge rocks emerge on both sides of the clone, which sends the clone flying backwards. Without wasting any time, more chakra is channeled into the ground behind the clone. By using shape manipulation, a hammer of earth is formed and smacks the clone down into the ground as he is flying backwards. As the clone lay on the ground, hammered in place, Ashitaka extends his right hand towards the clone. A rock forms on the first of Ashitaka and then he quickly sends it at the clone, who is lying on the ground.

Well, I used the jutsus like I did because I liked the idea of a hammer hammering something down into place as the object is moving into the air or backwards. The bullet of rock seemed like a finishing jutsu opposed to the other ones, but the hammer is also pretty devastating. These jutsu were not too diverse, but diverse enough to make a neat little combo.

"Good work, I liked those creative uses."

"Now, for the final C-rank jutsu, you'll mold doton chakra and stomp the ground, creating fractures that cause earth to rise up and hit your target with blunt force. It can push them upwards into the air, too."

Description: The user will manipulate their chakra and stomps the ground. By doing so, he causes small fractures to rip through the ground, which will then force fragments of earth and rock to rise up from the ground like protruding rock formations to then deal blunt force damage to the opponent and can raise them up into the air.

Ashitaka's eye widened after hearing this jutsu's description. In his head, Ashitaka visualized the simple but effective jutsu pushing Edward up in the air. Ashitaka grinned devilishly at the idea of using this jutsu to mess with his rival Edward.

Seems simple enough. Let's see if I can perform it to a high degree.

After molding chakra by combining his spiritual and physical energies together, Ashitaka started thinking about doton and it's properties. This starts to give his chakra a doton nature. Ashitaka then stomps his right foot on the ground as he channels the doton chakra into the earth under the clone, causing two pillar like rock formations to come up and push the clone up in the air. After doing this, Ashitaka faced his friend Souji and began to describe the jutsu.

Well, this jutsu is really neat. It is done with quick speed and has nice range, and it's very simple to use. The only downside of this jutsu is it's simplicity, making it easy to counter. But if used in the right situations, this jutsu won't be able to be countered. Such as your opponent falling down from a moving earth core followed up by this jutsu skewering your opponent.

"The first B-ranked jutsu has you performing the hand seals Boar and Ox. Afterwards, you'll place one of your hands on the ground. By channeling your earth chakra through the ground and around your opponent, the earth below them will begin spiraling inwards, much like how a toilet is flushed. This will bury them, or squeeze them and twist them up in a trap of jagged rocks."

Description: After performing the required hand seals Boar → Ox → placing hand on the ground, the user causes the ground surrounding the enemy to spiral inwards on itself, burying them alive or crushing them in a mayhem of jagged rocks. This technique is capable of causing quite a bit of damage to a large area. This technique is much more damaging if used in rocky mountainous areas, or inside a cave.

'Afterwards, channel your Earth chakra to form four large spikes that attack your target from different directions. It can be easily evaded by escaping upwards, according to the description."

"If an opponent were indeed going to escape upwards, how would you follow up with another attack? What would be your best option?"
