For one, I didn't say it was 100%. And, for another, I wasn't talking about someone who wants Sasuke dead interrupting. And one of them does not have to die. I'd only agree to that if a prophecy said such a thing. Also, let's just say this: after Itachi, who always had and always will have the most influence over Sasuke's emotions, even if not directly - such as his spiral into darkness after he learned the truth about Itachi, comes Naruto. Just saying.

Either way I would definitely believe one of them dies just based off of Kishi's way of writing/story-telling and his NEED for surprises. Sasuke is to f*cked up for things to go back to normal. Yes anything can happen with Kishi as we all know but I just don't see any outcome AS OF RIGHT NOW in which Sasuke lives and everything is back to normal. My reasoning lies in something that you said that I agree with but wouldn't make the same correlation you did. Itachi definitely has the most influence over Sasuke but I don't think his Spiral of Darkness was indirectly or directly anything with Itachi and/or happened way before he learned the truth about Itachi. Sasuke's darkness came from Orochimaru being his ticket to gaining so much power so quickly which I believe led to his Spiral into Darkness. If someone else was able to do that, I think Sasuke is still the same person (emo) but not Dark/Evil. Sasuke knew Oro was the only one capable of getting him to where he is now in terms of POWER so what happened to him is like what happens to so many others trying to seek that much power that quickly: 99.9% of the time they become evil and blinded by their goal. Then Tobi comes along (pretty much the same type of influence on Sasuke as Oro was) and twists not only Itachi's words/what he wanted and had sacrificed for Sasuke but Sasuke's mind as well into believing it. All in all, I think Sasuke has too much of a TWISTED/F*CKED UP mind to ever becoming a friend of Naruto's or returning to Konoha because he has too much pride and is blinded by power to the point where he would never accept Naruto beating him (and allowing him to live). I guess the best way to put it is since Sasuke's reason for living has been completed (Vengeance against Itachi), the thing holding the MOST influence over him/his emotions is his HIMSELF because he is so blinded by POWER and PRIDE and being an UCHIHA and all that other great stuff.

Normally, I would agree with this 100000%. The only problem is Kishi is the ultimate troll and he is so inspired by DBZ that I think one of them can technically "die" but will end up still being "there" as an influence. (If that doesn't make sense think about Goku dead but helping Gohan fight/kill Cell).
I feel like one of them are going to die but its going to be extremely lame. For example, Naruto ends up dying but Sasuke realizes he just killed the only other person that loves him in the Narutoverse and everyone accepts him back and he lives out Naruto's dream (cue corny sad song here). As much as I want to say that Naruto is going to end like EVERY OTHER Good VS. Evil story, I just don't see Kishi ending it like that. It will definitely end on some corny shiznit but its going to be something like I wrote above or Sasuke and Naruto beat Tobi and/or/+ Madara together but one of them takes the final blow for the other and that person becomes Hokage and lives out Naruto's dream (cue corny sad song here).
Either way I would definitely bet that:
1 - Naruto's dream of becoming Hokage comes true by him or Sasuke
2 - One of them dies (most likely Sasuke but if Kishi feels like super-trolling then Naruto)
