Today's mainstream rap are still stuck in that time period, I agree. But it's fake. Today's rappers that rap about killin and shit, are fake. Plain and simple. Back in the 90s thats really all they had to rap about, was their struggles and their life.real hip hop was never about gangsta shit to begin with. 90s introduced a lotta mcs with that gangsta rap and they were good, but they've already been tried.
the reason why today's mainstream rap is just a disgrace to all musical genres is because mainstream rappers are still stuck in that gangsta concept from the 90s and fail to move on.
+ They fail at trying to be gangsta :|.real hip hop was never about gangsta shit to begin with. 90s introduced a lotta mcs with that gangsta rap and they were good, but they've already been tried.

You summarised the whole problem and the reasons for it in one reply! Nice!the industry is nothing but a morgue where music comes to die. where all artists will eventually ***** themselves to commercialism. record industry moguls manufacturing there fabulous hollow idols to milk them dry. the reason we know good music exist because the people in charge in the 50s 60s took a chance on strange music witch was against the norm. and as frank zappa said "without deveation from the norm progress is not possible." and that exactly was wrong no risks are taken leaving music stale and unespireing just generic elevator music for people to listen to.
Good luck with that man! Hope you make it and that we will hear from you someday!thanks man i been trying to make my own label to record my work for a while few hic ups but nearly there. i am really sick of music industry the now. hopefully if i get sucessful enough i can be a rebelious breath of fresh air on the air waves.
I don't mind if you link it here. So please share it with us, it's always nice to hear something else than american.i so agree. hip hop sucks now a days! i specially hate how the hip hop world is going techno on us! im from holland, i had to put up with all these wack beats from the techno/house-scene for years. here in holland were are finally moving on... we got over the techno/house-phase... now all the rappers start recycling those wack techno-beats ive heard for all these years! they took the beats of european dj's and put lyrics on em! and it sells! when i put on the radio i'll hear the same tune ive allready for the last 10 years! i loved american hip hop! i still love the old sh*t.. but i can't stand the stuff that comes out now a days ( wack and yellow, wack and yellow) luckely i really like the hip hop that comes out in holland, it's real creative in the sound and lyrics.. i wish i could share some with you.. but i'm afraid you guys won't like it couse its dutch..(holla at me if you wanna hear some anyways, ill link it in this thread)
