He can't learn it's name because he doesn't know how to communicate with it.

His zanpaktou was screaming, yet, Kenpachi couldn't hear it. In a way, you have to believe in your zanpaktou and trust it in order to learn it's name. You can't learn it unless your zanpaktou feels that you're worthy/ready.

tbh i would love to see kenpachi get a bankai not coz he really needs it, just for the curiosity of what it would look like n what kind of power it would have +!! it would be hillarious is his zanpakuto ended up with a really wimpy form imagine kenpachis face when he realises hes been fighting with a wimpy blade all this time XD

guys ichigo got his powers from rukia that is why he had a zanpakuto before achieving shikai...and anyway how did we end up talking about kenpachi having bankai?

Ichigo temporarily borrowed Rukia's Shinigami powers but that doesn't explain him having a zanpaktou. The zanpaktou that he had was his zanpaktou manifested from his own soul.

Even after he was left for dead by Byakuya and Renji, Urahara helped him regain his Shinigami powers. Before Zangetsu told him name he still had his zanpaktou.

Even if you don't know your zanpaktou's name you can still have it. It just means you can't release Shikai. That's all
