Last chapter of the gaiden proved that Itachi was the greatest uchiha...

out of ALL the uchiha who passed away including Madara himself.

The remnant Uchiha want to avenge Itachi the Solo King.

Rejoice as Kishi is showing us Itachi is indeed the Solo King

How was he the ultimate traitor? Are you forgetting that all he initially wanted to do was protect the Uchiha Clan. Your statement contradicts itself considering Itachi wiped out the clan.

Edit: However that said. I still see it how it is. Madara was the Top Elite of the Uchiha. Followed by Itachi. Both had their own demons

Your thought process doesn't make sense.... He turned his back on his own people.. He chose WAR instead of Peace. How is that protecting the Clan?

He turned his back because he was rejected by Tobirama and not fully welcomed to the Leaf. The rest was a result of his suffering at the loss of Izuna (the Power of his Mangekyo Sharingan is an Indicator of this) which compounded him to spiral out of control until he finally saw the error of his ways at the very end. It's worth noting that he was the one who warned that Tobirama would isolate the Uchiha Clan, which he did, which led to the Coup, which led to Itachi also being led to doing something he should not have done. He admitted to Sasuke that maybe there could have been another way.

IT was his actions that lead Tobirama to Isolate the Uchiha clan... Tobirama knew Madara was a bad person. He simply did not want any one else to be that way. Madara was basically a selfish stubborn shinobi that. Itachi is the noble and most respected in the situation as he chose the higher path to maintain peace this is why the current uchiha respect him.

Madara was not always so selfish. Are you forgetting he initially put his trust in Hashirama? The Senju were just as guilty as the Uchiha as lives and siblings had been lost on both sides. However, when it came to putting things behind and moving forward, Tobirama wouldnt let it rest as he still harboured his fathers distrust of Uchihas.

I agree Itachi was an honourable Uchiha. Just as Shisui was. However, he still comes in at Number Two. He is not innocent. Madara fought for most of his life to protect the Uchiha. Itachi unfortunately was forced to murder them all. Remember... it was the curse of the Uchiha unfortunately. But at their best, both Madara and Itachi were epic.
