i find it funny that they had a france flag on their logo such as tumblr and youtube which is very humane and ironic at the same time since they never would do such thing if it wasn't the west..facebook apologized about it and i totally respect that but the others nope..they always make it seem like humans are only living in the west or something, sometimes i feel like they literally don't give a sh*t about the rest of the world.

Over 210,000 people have died in Syria and more than 500,000 in Iraq, yet you don't see people changing their profile picture to the flag of Iraq/Syria. You also don't see anyone being silent for 1 minute for either of these countries. If 9/11 and the Paris attacks deserve a 1 minute silence, then these other war-torn countries deserve 10 minutes of silence.

Because those are war zones. It's not as surprising as a civilian zone. Are the lives less important in war zones? No, but it's expected. It's like The Joker said in The Dark Knight. When things aren't "according to plan," when things are chaotic and against what is expected, that's when people panic.

Instead of making it some kind of sick competition, instead of going "Wow you guys are paying attention to this and not this instead," people should work to talk about both. Instead of making threads where you go "Stop paying attention to Paris and pay attention to Syria," just talk about Syria. There's no need to even mention Paris unless you're saying something like "The battle against ISIS, who recently caused this many deaths and this incident in Paris, has caused this many casualties in Syria," and then continue talking about Syria. There's no need to divert attention, you don't have to distract people from one incident in a country and demand they pay attention to another. Human beings are fully capable of paying attention to more than one thing at a time.

Then make threads. Share articles about it. Instead of whining about people talking about Paris and not Turkey, start talking about Turkey. You don't need to shame people into not knowing about Turkey, or try to guilt people into not paying attention to Paris and pay attention to Turkey, just start talking about Turkey. There's no reason conversations about both can't exist, and if one conversation isn't happening, start it.

even if he makes a thread about it most people won't give a s**t we all know that, also it's not like his thread will make people think differently on social media or around the world.

My chef told us that in honor to Paris we give them a minute of silence.

This didn't happen when Turkey was attacked etc.

What?

And it's not that people don't care, it's that it's not surprising.

Okay Felicia.
Willful ignorance is the saddest kind.

You're still no better if you don't try to start the conversation. And it's not like this forum is the only medium in the world possible.

Do they know about it? Did you suggest it?

It does annoy me a great deal. The problem is, people who suffer these attacks daily based on where they live are viewed as less important because to the media and the West, it's just a typical day. However, you get the same everyday life thrown at a cushy city where they don't understand the true meaning of survival, and it's suddenly a national disaster. I stopped watching media reports long ago because of this sort of thing.

The media will only show what is convenient to the ones who fund the media itself. There's nothing we can really do about but speak up share awareness and try to get this knowledge out there.
