It allows the user to see/sense chakra, grants the use of the Six Paths(Like, the Six Paths of Pain), and also lets you use every type of Chakra Transformation (Fire, Lightning, etc).
I'm pretty sure that's all it does, though I may be forgetting something.

I believe he's trying to say that there are two hereditary types of chakra within each person (a Yin-type and a Yang-type). And that those two types can intertwine with other halves to make a new whole.
But then again, that's gettin real confusing/nitty-gritty into it... not sure if Kishi would do that to his fans.. lol

What I want to say is that Sage had 2 sons
And I think each son produced 2 clans.
Young one:
Senju from his Yin and Uzumaki from Yang
Elder one:
Hyuga from his Yang and Uchiha from his Yin
Since Uzumaki clan possess strong Yang chakra and Minato sealed just Kyubi's Yang chakra into Naruto, his new seal combine both Naruto's and Kyubi's Yang and manifest it like Yang release cloak or something.
As Madara Uchiha is Yin and Hashirama Senju was too there was no chance for Madara to unlock Rinnegan because to unlock Rinnegan one need both Sage's body(Uzumaki, Yang) and eyes(Uchiha, Yin)
As Nagato was Sage's body(younger son's descendant, body and strong physical energy yang) Madara gave him his EMS(elder son's descendant, eyes and strong spiritual energy yin) to unlock Rinnegan in Nagato.
So all possible combinations of what I listed, are total 6 paths.

If this is true, then why was he known as the Sage of Six Paths. In order to even HAVE that title, the 'six paths' must've been known at some time; his desendants, which have decendants of their own (making clans) are the paths. And why would Madara waste BOTH his eyes to give some random kid the Rinnegan? And yes, he was random; Madara could've picked any Uzumaki, by your logic. And why would he wait to take the eyes; why not take Nagato's DNA and give himself the Rinnegan? And don't say because he was all 'yin', because if he took Nagato's DNA, then he'd have the 'yang' he needed. If he was only going to use one Rinnegan eye, why waste both EMS? That's just stupid, which Madara is not.
Unless these 'six paths', which you claim to be combinations of clans, already existed (there was already a 'senju/uzumaki' hybrid, and a 'hyuuga/uchiha' hybrid, ect.), your theory doesn't hold much water. In addition, these 'paths' would've also had to have ENOURMOUS power and/or impact on the ninja world to give their predecessor such a title, and there would've had to have been a VERY direct tie to the sage in order to accosiate him with them so much that he gained the new name, and if such ninja had existed, we surely would've heard of them before, and they would have titles and stories greater than the sage.

Nagato was not random ... he was child of war and his parents were killed before his eyes, I think that Madara used genjutsu on those Konoha ninja.
He was Sage of the Six paths because he possessed:
6 elements
He passed throught all 6 realms of reincarnation and possessed power of each.
His neklace is probably Yasakani no Magatama which symbolizes benevolence/enlightenment.
He was something like Jesus to Christianity, chosen one.
I think that my theory is right, yeah that about Hyuga mother is weird but not impossible.

Hinata is useless, Neji does not have enough screen time, Hanabi was not seen fighting yet and more importantly Hanabi in Part II. was not shown "yet"

Nagato was random; he had the ocular powers before the leaf ninja attacked, as he used them to kill the leaf ninja. Madara chose some random Uzumaki in a war zone to give the eye's to; this kid was in a place where he could've been killed any day, and the only reason he wasn't was he saw his parents killed before his eyes, and if the leaf was faster, they would've killed him before he used the Rinnegan (there was a LARGE delay in his parent's dieing and him using Rinnegan, meaning that he could've been killed if they hadn't realized that the family were just commoners).
Your premis of how he got his name is wrong; if that was true, then why would Madara go out to collect 'paths', when there are no paths(you're paths are elements, Madara's paths are people; 1st Hokage (Senju), Himself (Uchiha), Nagato (Uzumaki), ect.)
It's not impossible, but it's highly unlikely. And on your premis, than it has to be Neji who's part Uchiha, as if it was Hinata, then the NaruHina relationship would result in an Uzumaki/Hyuuga/Uchiha combo, which wouldn't be the Uzumaki/Hyuuga you need for your theory, and so your Hinata's mother/Sasuke's mother thing is invalid.
Hinata is not useless, Neji is so epic, he makes up for a lack of screen time with what he does when he's on screen, and Hanabi's a little girl; of course she's seen no fighting time, especially during a war.
Through those pictures, are you suggesting that Mikoto was Sasuke's, Hinata's, and Hanabi's mothers, all at once? No. And it's not proven that Mikoto even has the sharingan; I think she married into the family. They actually don't look very simmilar, and look above for more (last paragraph).
