she got injured she gave ichigo some of her powers
and he becomes a subistute shinigami
then the real story starts
just begin watching bleach for the rest

Bleach is sort of a complicated anime due to the fact that its about this 15 yr old boy that had the power to see ghosts, then one day a girl named Rukia who has the powers to fight off evil ghosts (Hollows) who are bent on eating spirits of humans. The power she has is that of a Shinigami (english: Soul Reaper, meaning: Death God). She gives Ichigo the powers to do so but by that she has broken the law of Soul Society

I'd recommend watching it until the second or so arc. There's a lot of action in this manga so it's worth it to watch it instead
