Maybe the Senju can read it as well in some different way, or they have other ways to follow a certain path.
Maybe the Elder son did something to the tablet to make sure only the Uchiha were benifitting from it.
We dont know. There are to many blanks imo to say that the sage only left it for the Uchiha.

Naruto in a way is following a certain path and he can only do this, because he has not read the tablet I think.
If he had read it, he might have followed a different path, so in a way, it is a good thing that he didnt read it.
So maybe the sage did it on purpose. Maybe he felt it would benifit the younger son more to not have read it.

But again as I say, I feel there are lot of blanks still.

Well his successor was the Senju Ancestor and hence he left the tablet to the Uchiha Ancestor for justifying his actions perhaps.

I think in the past they used to write their history on stones just like the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Roman Empires... Kishi is just tapping into that.... I think The Sage or Elder son probably casted the writings on the stone with the use of optical visual powers; hence for you to see it, you needed high visual powers that are closer to that of the original writer (As Madara said, the more your visual prowess develops, the more you can decipher from the stone)... This is why it is mainly visible to the Uchihas!!! Mind you, when Hashirama saw it he could see the writings but didn't have the visual prowess to decipher it!

The Senju passed down the legend orally that's why Hashirama & others knew some details about the So6P, but the Uchiha. The info was probably supposed to be largely hidden from the public, to prevent people from desparing like Madara did. That's why the Elder Son wrote it in an encrypted way.

I think RS made it possible, but decided to believe in his younger son.

Also Madara said it was RS who created the tablet, and Obito also said it. I see no reason for it to be a lie.

I also can't believe that the sage wrote it but Naruto wiki says the sage did...in my opinion though I think Just like the bible, peOple kept writing their own parts...for example we can assume that it was the older son who wrote about the progress of the Sharingan since the sage had the Rinnegan he couldn't have known about the Sharingan and the MS/EMS could he? even if he did I doubt he would write something like "you need to kill your closest friend tO awaken the MS"

The sage had to write it not the elder son because the sage is the only one with the rinnigan. It is just a plot hole that he would leave a tablet only someone from the eldest sons line could read even though he declared his second son(the senju ancestor) his official heir.
