Yeah, but that's likely because of Naruto's reputation as Hokage. Him doing research doesn't mean he would attain everything there is to know. An example I can think of is the fact that SA had done research on Madara's abilities. However, Onoki didn't even know Madara had Mangekyou Sharingan. Same for Hashirama as well.
Against Naruto, Shin immediately activates his Mangekyo Sharingan knowing Naruto is much stronger.

However after facing Sasuke, Shin goes on and said "he shall die by my hands". This could only prove Shin isn't scared of Sasuke and actually thinks he can defeat him.

Then how would u judge what mode it is seeing how Naruto's cloak lacks signs of BM and RSM. The only sage mode where Naruto loses his eye markings is RSM
The eye markings in the Last prove that Naruto was using TSM+KCM.
Naruto having BSM eye yet no SM markings means RSM, the lack of TSB can probably be attributed to him not using the other bijuu's chakra
who knows where they stand now, but from the last few chaps of part 2 its clear that Sasuke had some catching up to do if he wanted to be at Naruto's level without capturing the 9 bijuu :bdpf:

whatever mode Naruto used (RSM or BM) was overkill anyway. Naruto has shown that he possesses the shunshin speed to blitz Shin easily in those modes, but all he did was stand there and use chakra arms to deflect kunai and half-haphazardly try and catch him lol

not really. he made that comment based on what transpired in his scuffle with sasuke. hooded asks how sasuke is then shin proceeds to say he is very powerful even though sasuke hardly flexed his muscles. but am guessing soosano is gonna come out next time sasuke meets him since we have seen bsm or rsm, whichever it is.
