I thought it was odd he was doing so poorly against Kaguya.

Also, he purposely didn't use any other rinnegan techs to:
1. Preserve chakra for the fight he knew was coming
2. To have the element of surprise in the final showdown.

Now he has a complete analysis of Naruto's power, speed, jutsu, err'thang (everything* if you don't get that XD lol) !

To be honest, I actually don't like Sasuke. But this was smart on his part.

So people who were running their mouth about him having "limited techniques" look very stupid now because he just displayed a technique nobody saw coming, and immediately sealed the beasts. He could have most definitely did damage to Kaguya, but he probably wanted to keep most of his new techs a secret from naruto while studying narutos new techs at the same time whilist surviving and protecting naruto when necessary such as against the IT.

It makes sense. If Sasuke had what he had in mind all this time, it makes sense for him to old back slightly. He knew naruto would be an obstacle at some point so he was smart to not use other moves (like his CT) so that Naruto wouldn't be prepared.

His beast were sealed in kaguya before still he was able to use them. Dint u listen to wat hago said he is the meeting point for all of them to come and talk... They can still lend their support....
