So Sasuke showing an affectionate side ruins his character?

Sasuke showing affection is a new addition to his character arc, but it's entirely subjective to say it's good or bad because it entirely depends on whether or not the person reading it likes it or not. Considering the fact that Kishimoto decided to wait until the main story was pretty much over and the last part of the gaiden to depict Sasuke like that, it rightfully comes across as him trying to conveniently tidy everything up so everyone could live happily ever after, no matter how forced and uncharacteristic it may be. It would've felt a lot less forced if he didn't depicted Sasuke as being his old douchebag self when he Sarada finally found him.

Sasuke needs to have his Part 1 attitude. His nrw fake love with his fake family kinda alters his character. I like his love hate relationship with Naruto because that seems natural. Gaiden Sasuke is awkward af but it does not ruin the badass that Sasuke is. I like his Emo side better, he had a better goal that time than walking in the woods and wasting time.

in part 1 he had a caring side mixed with his cold demeanour, a lot of panels show that so anyone saying he behaved cold all though the manga obviously skipped panels. anyways for the thread, it depends on how it is depicted. the scans you have shown is just a man showing care to his family so its perfectly fine, that in no way or form is ooc. however if he is being all lovey like last naruto then yes that would ruin his character

I must disagree here. Part 1 Sasuke was an a** hole to begin with who always needlessly disrespected Naruto and others. He was also incredibly ethnocentric as shown when he underestimated Lee and implied that Lee couldn't beat him just because his [Sasuke's] last name is Uchiha. As for his goals , killing Itachi is understandable for someone who had their family slain in such a way , and wanting to change the world via revolution is understandable as well. Crushing Konoha was his only unreasonable goal.

Even though his goals in his youth were mostly reasonable however, his adult goal of protecting the world from alien threats like Momoshiki and Kinshiki is just as good if not better. To be honest, adult Sasuke is what I've always wanted from Sasuke. He is still a very powerful individual (arguably stronger than in his youth), he fights for the good of others and he is finally a respectful likable character. Why would you want some stupid jerk of a character when you could have the epicness that he is now?
