So Sasuke showing an affectionate side ruins his character?

Judging thinking about my old poll (SasuSaku Movie opinions) but a lot of people said it would ruin his character.
But to me, I think we need to see more of that side. People complain about lack of character development but this is actually good. He finally acknowledged his Rival, he actually had hid his feelings towards Naruto's strength. He's very like Vegeta but came around at the end. But really, wouldn't you want to see where all this affection came and developed from?
